Yep, nice job there. I heard it was not that hard, like changing spark plugs really.

Heck I replaced my cooler lines with alligators and not all that happy with them. Seemed like a lot of work for what it did and they still have restrictions smaller than the stock lines inside the fittings. I plan to go to dual coolers on both sides that will double the cooling area and using Summit fittings with larger hose.

I picked up someone who was Joe guest for some time. He called it cruel treatment. I asked how and sleeping in tents, 2 meals a day and pink undies came out of him.

Sure you have all seen the video systems from Walmart to Costco, so how so they really work?

I have this one from Harbor Frieght; http://www.harborfreight.com/color-security-system-with-night-vision-60565.html got it on sale for under $40. For what it is it works very good. It is wired so mounting somewhere is easy, plus it is 12v so it opens up lots of vehicle options.

I use a couple of the HF wired security cameras too, but they leave a lot to be desired. I have got some HD dome cameras off Ebay that work so much better for under $20.

I also have a few of these Wireless setups I got from Ebay and they works OK to for the price and being 2.4ghz. The little stand alone camera is nice as well as just adding a 9v battery. There are even recievers that plug right in via USB which opens up many options for viewing and recording. Software is a dime a dozen for this too.

I am building a cover for this soon. Just happen to have a 2 story garage where I park it and just poured 3 DEEP fence-posts next to it just for that purpose.

I am somewhat of an authority about little projects turning into major ones.
When you start with repacking the wheel bearings and then deciding on the need to stiffen and lift the suspension a bit, we'll all know the balance has shifted toward the 5 year "Oil change-plan!"

Funny thing is I do need to check the bearings and brakes. BUT HOW WOULD THAT EVER TURN INTO A BIGGER JOB?

OK, so with rain and coming and the inside drying I took to the roof again.

Fitted a new piece of ply to the opening, then added a 1/8 reinforcement joining the panels.

First I put new insulation in and glued the puppies in.

I would love to get a set of that type rail for my El Camino, it has nothing in the bed at to tie things off.

How good do those straps work? Seen them around and they look stout.

Been looking for a lab, wife says maybe a gold, I am leaning to the black or choc. I have to get a puppy so it can grow up with the cat. Think the wife will say its "her or the dog" must go. I am going to have to remove the bed rail to do this right. I have it opened up pretty well right now and have a heater in there drying it out. I will let this go for a few days as I finish the roof off.

I am sure there will be more teardown just to make sure it is solid and dry.

OK, now for pics;

After unbolting the seat and bed rail I cut around the affected area.

Found a mushroom growing behind a seat bracket.

All the screws that came out felt solid. Sure they were a little corroded but they were still doing their job.

Pulled out the braces and it looks good. I showed the before pic here to so it is easy to compare.

Then I found the other water damage, need to open this up quick!

Ok, finally got a little time to finish this up. Well, there is good news and bad.

Good news is the repair is going great. Removed the brace and the ceiling is solid and stays right where it should.

Bad news is there maybe lots more damage than I thought to the wall. I found a part that looks like its delaminated and there is a stain on the other side of the bed rail. Good news about all this is the folding bed and the other things mounted seem solid. So I am going to open this up some and see the real damage is. Hopefully it is more superficial and just needs to dry out with minimal repair.

So here are a few picks of the repair.

First I fitted the 2x2 slotted to overlap for a little more strength. This also filled the gap when the trusses were cut out and helped to hold the wood down a little.

It needed shaving to match up so out came the power plane while it was clamped down in the Rockwell Workhorse. If you have never seen these they are great! I use it for anything you can think of of from welding to simple woodwork.

OK, so this keeps coming up and I see links with with crazy prices for something that is not.

Also, stay AWAY from goggles, it screws up your head when you fly, looking at a small monitor is so much better.

So from a major company you can get this RTF (ready to fly) and just add the monitor of your choice. Not cheap, but not several K either.

The 350 quad from Horizon goes for $900 street price. Plus you can get spare parts at almost any Hobby Shop or online from US companies.

You get a Quad heli with Transmitter that has 3 axis gyro stabilization with GPS return, 5.8ghz real time video camera on a 2 axis gimbal. 

They also sell this without a camera or transmitter if want to upgrade or have GoPro type camera already.

There is also a optional fitted case and you can upgrade the transmitter for more range and more abilities with the camera in flight.

For a monitor, about the best I have found is from Hobbyking. It is a 7 inch with 5.8ghz reception and touch screen. $140

So for around $1100 you can have a "basic" system. Throw in another few hundred and you get more range and the ability to aim the camera in flight.
 

He would just mount a 3 axis gyro with auto stabilization and realtime video to watch it work.

When you look close you can see how the wood has split and rotted. The side skin is smooth, but is just FG over wood. I had to remove about a 2 ft wood section of an edge support and unscrewed the drip edge that held it all together. I will replace this with a 2x2 that overlaps some of it and all the ceiling that had warped from the water.

I will use tack the ceiling down first, then use FG as a glue with the new 2x2 hold it all together, then fill the one truss that needs it and lap the FG to them all making a big solid repair.

I also found that the ceiling sagging needed some support before the repair was done to keep it all straight. So used a couple 4x4s and a 2x6 on top of the electric bed and lifted it up just a tad over straight. Then I shoved a 2x4 into the drape holder making it level. That gave me at least a 1/4 gap from the wall which is another reason to tack it down so all that FG doesn't just run down inside.

You can see other cracks in the were the sealant is pulling away.

Well, I got her cleaned out good and all dry.

There were several tears where the water was coming in.

Got some Minwax for the Rot and some Rustolium for the truss plates that were beginning to corrode.

At first I got some other brand that I found was water based!! Wait, water to fix water, no way. The Minwax is solvent based and you junk the brush so off to my box of HF brushes.

The Minwax goes on until you get a sheen from the wood. I probably used 1/2 the pint can letting it soak in good.

You can see the worst of the trusses here too, got the real bad out, sealed-hardened the rest.

OK, so things have gone amiss but you and your loved ones are good. Your trusty M4, AK, Glock or 12 gauge is holding up fine, but is it?

What parts would you have for each? There are "spare parts" kits and such but what really breaks or needs replacing from the real world?

On my trusty old Mossberg 500A, the safety is plastic and broke in half. Not that I use the safety, but I do check it time to time.

Just to add to this don't get stuck with thinking all recon must be done in the air. If that wind is howling and its pitch black what are you going to see?

Now that cameras with IR are about everywhere, why not put one on an solid little 4x4 truck. There are RC cars and trucks that will rival anything real now, plus they are quiet and can sit and watch for a long time when an aircraft can't.

There are so many of these out there now finding one is not the issue. Finding one to do what you want for a reasonable price will.

I was at Frys a couple days ago and they are all over. I think finding one with the GPS return features wanted and 5.8 ghz camera for a fair price will be the catch. I think the $1000 price is a good target, not the $3500 for this one.

Another thing is parts. From what I saw there everything is over the counter (futaba radio-3 cell lipo packs-charger) with a fancy name all packaged up. I am doing research on this ad have a large show to attend in Jan that I sure will yield a lot of info. I work for the flying venue there (volunteer) and get to see cutting edge things up close, even hands on.

I have been looking at flag poles to and think I can power raise/lower with air, time will tell soon.

Thats another reason I got the Keltec 2000, takes glock mags!!

Lasers can do many things, but I don't like lights much. I do own a few with lasers but more for shotguns. If its in the light, it will get hit.

As for lights, not for home defense. What they do is tell someone where you are. Leave the lights off, you know your home, they don't.

When doing some tranny work on my Dmax I used some foil cooking tubs from the dollar store for drain pans, soaking clutch packs and such. Nice and then you throw them away.
