You said the low end is clean, but the cam journels are bad? I would pull the motor for that.
If the short block is good, just get some exchange heads and your good. Drop in a nice cam and go.

That looked fake, to easy and cry on demand.
But overall I agree,

Pull motor, strip refresh, new cam and a head job (can I say that here! ) then reinstall....
Best option. No questions about it then and you have it.

Love the old conventional Petes, SS is by far better than chrome, just needs TLC.
When I did that we had several V12's with straight pipes.
Funny I just watched Blackdog last night!
The whole truck needs a good shining up. It's been a couple years. Farm life is hard on them.

Did SOD for a couple years, then it was beer. Sort of both sides.

9K is a lot, no matter what. Did they do a fair job though?
I can see not hauling the trash away. But no tools or doing the little things is not a complete job. I could see odd tool or other little thing but it sounded like, " I want them done and out"!
Tate, 2200 is OK for a 6ltr, but not great. I paid 2k for a 5.3/trans and ecm few years ago when they were not as easy to get.
Have you checked with your insurance and giving them the story? They may cover it then go after jiffy lube, was it?

I believe the hood has a "work" position built in (Ken). Undo the front bolt on the hood, point straight up and then that bolt will hold it vertical.
Good idea on the pan. I may have cleaned the block before all the new parts though.

Suppose if you think about it....the engines is almost out now anyway true? Cam change, degree the cam/proper oil pan gasket replacement, and maybe a look see at the bearings.....you said you were going to put a converter in it anyway....its a LS you can bet it needs new rods. Just thinking out loud here.
You know Don he is right. What 12 bolts and its out? Torque convert which was on the table anyway. No pan leak, easier assembly,,,,,,,,,,

Don, that fire extinguisher is a bit or lots too small to be effective by the time you get to it.
Ah man!
I have a 2.5 Halon under the center seat and a 2.5 standard in the bed. Love Halon, just getting $$$.

Ryan, that 44k one looks nice. 226 on the other!! Sounds like a good plan so far. If you go wheels, because you want wider for sure, you could still do 17's and clear with a 3 inch lift (really just a level kit). I probably went backwards with my intake, but I have a clearance issue with the elky hood. I now have an LS intake vs the truck 5.3 and a CTS pan. Bumpers sound cool, can't wait to see em. What is you planned route for the trip?

We spent really little time there. Road bikes in the AM, skiing when hot, drinking and pool at night, seemed the border patrol liked to chase me, never caught me.

« on: January 07, 2019, 10:59:23 AM »
I made my own set for the elky about 20 years ago. 1in is all, billet and had some crazy weight back there (cummins). Knock, knock.

I think your slides are fine Don. Just worried about the drawer bottoms not holding up. Did you try yours with the Dog

I liked the sliders and spacers. All the weight is on the sliders. Latches were a bit busy for me.

What does the think tank think of this idea ? Want to. Open up my options for used market of wheels/tires
I really like that 2012 Chevy wheel too
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sure it changes pattern but adds BS. I hate the new small tire sticking way out look. Be sure they are billet at least. Most wheels are cast so the spacer is stronger than the wheel. Doing that on my burb. H1 wheels are 7 BS so I will run a 2.5 spacer to keep the 4.5 BS most of us have now. May go a little more since I like the tire flush in the rear.

Also this should be done in the summer when you can enjoy being in the attic
I did! Nice grouping there. 7 or 10 yards?

Well, the All On mod was just a loose 1/4 plug.
I cleaned the OEM housings and it is better, but not great. So I got a OEM style set but cheap so we'll see.
I did get the JDM NX high beams and WOW, worth every penny. Very happy, $70 well spent.
Found one of my fog light adjuster was messed up. Screw came out of housing so it could float, easy fix. Ordered cheap LED bulbs for them, stock are just 37watts, ouch.

We did my moms walls and the attic. She fed, I crawled, worked good. Attic was easy once you were up there, walls had no blocks but you should have seen the holes for just a 900sf house!

Show us more Dave, I need to do that too.

I remember those areas on the side from my old 96, pretty much the same.
Very nice fit and work by the way. The pass side will have lots of AC stuff under there, the drivers not so much.
Think there is a factory cover for all that too.
Nice spot for a shotgun behind the rear seat,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

So, sure many are thinking this.
Cost for a bumper kit shipped.
Cost for file to cut local or excuse for a table!

Water table should be good if I don't have water. I am seeing wells (USGS) at up to 200ft, but many are under 100, some at 25. But another bargaining chip for sure.
I was seeing 1500-2000 for a 120-150 footer with a quick search. Sure that is without pump and all the rest.

Honest people with level thinking know they are crooks. Most of the "crimes" don't even require "intent", just doing them is enough.
I fear for my kids and hopefully grandkids to come.
