Yessir! It is a "pro star" machine. It's praxair's house brand. I just rented it but it's only $1000 unit and I've been pretty impressed so far really! It was praxair's answer to the hobby welder that has been burnt by harbor freight but can't afford a name brand machine. By their admission it is about 50% the machine a miller of the same recipe is at 25% of the price. Honestly I don't know much more about it than that! I got it off the floor and set it up myself and went to melting! I learned how to weld in ag class in high school and had my own small scale fab business when I was a kid. Did mostly fencing and hand rails. I worked for a summer as an apprentice to a pipeline guy my sophomore year.

My dad taught me there were a thousand ways to make a dollar and if you could learn to do all of them, you could make a thousand bucks... I've only learned how to do a couple hundred so far but it's paid off on occasion! Haven't always been a "doctors wife"!

Looks great Blaine! Don't envy that repetition.

I got rid of a power steering leak today.

Yea, well, that's good work

Much better to build it yourself than to buy! Cheaper, better quality, no skipped anything, and you know what you have.

Good job Airborne!

That railing looks great... welds also BTW. I can so BTDT on the blob of weld across the chest thing on a few occasions.

Samm  Snow....I remember those days in Wisconsin in May... don't miss them LoL

Yesterday:
Tried to convince Don he needs Square D to run asap because technology is the true earths evil...didn't work LoL

I spent quite some time scrounging parts to see if I have enough laying around to build a new pickup.

Lost my phone... I did find it in the gun safe about 4am this morning. After thinking I dropped it in the tall grass back in our "dodge truck burial grounds"

Tore the box off a Dodge frame I found... killed wasps in said frame with the weed dragon and some fancy dancing.

I spent almost 15minutes staring through the optics on one of the Ar's at the farm cat...after a few I decided I should stop tempting myself, so I got busy cleaning my work bench. By 3pm I was ready for lunch so I went to town and mooched lunch off my wife and well, I got nothing else done the rest of the day really.

I did spend a few hours with the metal detector and my grandson... we found lots of junk, one walking liberty and a old letter opener. So not a bad day all in all.

It's lunch time and so far today all I have gotten done is replacing 9 pivot tires and angering a crow. I have decided that since it's Friday I am done "working" so I am no headed out to Dodge stuff... we shall see how that goes LoL

Put four quarts of fresh Amsoil in the rear diff of the Chevy. Nothing to drastic on the magnet, just the really fine metal dust

Then added a little representation for my boy ZacH at Starlite since this week has been the ultimate callout challenge

It's on...rear bumper build.

No real plan other than kind of match the front one.

Now do I build with winch provision, as in no 'step' in the centre so there's room?

Well I'm thinking.
I've been told it's illegal around here to leave the hitch in the receiver.
But you can buy steps to plug into them.
I have a habit of getting rear ended in the city, dang distracted drivers.

So my thought is to make a receiver step. Then it will still be first hit.

Ive been trying to get my chicken pen finished up. I got everything in place. Tried to sew some grass but the wind was too much. I threw some wheat out there to get stared. At least there will be something growing. I never got the fence up yet. Now its suppose to rain for a few days. I stole the top half of a corn crib from my brothers place and got it home. ITs a pen in a pen for keeping chickens separate if I need to. Like when I start out the broilers. The Hens don't bother them.

Nate I hope not too. I've always left one in and never had a problem.

So executive decision made, I don't think I'll likely ever have a rear winch...so the centre step stays. I'll post a real time update of the day's progress in the bumper build.

Having said that I'm building like crazy today. Hoping to have it done this weekend...
Lofty goal I know.

I can relate on the windy.....Jon you guys get that wildfire smoke yesterday from Canada by you? It was so bad here yesterday afternoon ya needed headlights to drive. Kinda messed up our airshow experience with everyone coughing on smoke LoL It's not as bad today...but I can see the smoke plume to the west clearly, thankfully the winds wailing along and keeping us semi clear for the moment.

Brackets came in from King architecture. Ordered online thurs morning. On the doorstep Friday afternoon! Was surprised! Here is the representation of how they will mount!

Phase 1 panels are ready for the powder coating! Phase one consists of all of the "fall to your death" areas around the back porches!

Then an evening at the track!

Those mounting brackets look great.
Hate quite the pile of railings, is it half, or not quite.

I like the 'fall to your death' qualification of how much railing it is.

So I plugged away at the bumper most of the day.
Then it was nice enough to power thatch the lawn, which are up a couple hours but it needed to get done so it is now.

Returned from Mexico, was an uneventful week. Much needed vacation, but been traveling for last week and a half we're glad to be home in Colorado with real American food. I can attest I will never retire outside of the US (possibly Canada but too cold for my taste) as the food isn't something I'm willing to sacrifice on.

My first trip to mexico I ate from a street cart. I paid for that the entire trip home.

Love the food though.

We are looking at a road trip to Zion in mid July.

My best guess is the beef I saw was horse.......

Chicken, pork, fish gtg. Beef not so much imo, I've helped butcher cattle since I could safely hold a knife & it was never that texture just saying.

What I did this weekend:  Sat was my Mom's B-day...she's 76, and for her B day she wanted to go to the air show in Lincoln. So we loaded up the 5th Ave and the power Wagon, and the entire family went to the air show. A good time was had by all in general...they had 3 flying P51's and the Blue Angels and a F22 Demonstration as well as a P38 B25 and many others. They even had two Chinook. The kids enjoyed it, although I suspect the girls were mostly enthused by all the young Nat Guardsman helping run the place.

Security was very tight... the armed personnel was not subtle in the slightest this year. The smoke from the Canadian wild fires was so thick by 3pm itw as hard to breath so we cleared out and headed home to barbecue and treat the girls sunburns with some vinegar. Mom had a blast, so the mission was a success.

We spent Sunday doing some yard work. Then my wife went on a long bike ride with the girls for Mothers day while my Sons and I stayed home and waxed the boat and whipped up some good ole grass fed Neb beef for supper on the grill.

It's now Monday...time to relax LoL

We had the smoke here too. For a while there it was half to 3/4 mile visability. I was planting beans. It didn't bother me much. We got this special charcoal supposedly hypoallergenic cab air filter in the tractor. Couldent even smell it.

The last few days here have been spent storm spotting and in general Dodging mayhem. For those who may like to see "spring" in the midwest I will post a few pics of Mon/Tues.

The chances of a hole in one have improved considerably

A few more...

We have had 14" of rain in two days, 100mph winds, and well it's spring.

My wife shot this from our yard as it built...it's hard to see but the storms got so much updraft it's sucking dirt and grass from the fields into it....

I shot this as I was racing home... same storm from the other side. At this point they are blowing the sirens....we live about the center of that beauty.

other than a few more dents in Patch and a barn door,we wee unscathed...thankfully. No telling the rain damage yet...but it's very WET out LoL

We missed all that fortunately.  We only got a couple inches of rain and no hail at the place. They had some in Wayne, Wakefield just to the north of us. Sounds like Omaha really got pounded again last night. It rained here but that's it. Just a thunderstorm. It even dried up enough yesterday I got my Chicken pen done.

Yeah Jon it just stopped raining here about 5am. Surveying my kingdom at the house we lost a few ton of rock from the driveway from the rains and that is no big deal. The gravels and dirt roads are a muddy mess so I may have to wait tell latter to take a drive and check the fields. Our corns 6" tall...so we don't need any hail damage.

We don't have any corn up. Just planted 200 acres of corn and close to 200 acres of beans the other day. I run the air seeder and the boss runs the corn planter.
My neighbors have had corn in the ground for over a month. I'm not seeing much come up yet. Some look pretty good some there is nothing.

Yup, that's some wow factor hail!
And some serious carnage.
I love storm waching/chasing but it is a very dangerous game.
Having said that I don't get to see any real 'good' ones up north, kinda miss it.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

Today: Spent 4 hours fixing the driveway. Then spent a few more hours checking fields for flooding damage.

Stopped by the gun shop and bought Kay a new Kimber Micro. Her old one is approaching 3K rounds and well, time to upgrade.

Spent the remainder of the early afternoon wrenching on a old Dodge parts truck.. and NOW..grilling some salmon and drinking a Sam Adams and shopping for a new cell phone. Exciting huh?   LoL

That remains to be seen on the phone thing. But my old trusty one is clearly on it's last leg. I miss my bag phone..these new ones have no range at all. Kay has a super fancy G7 or something...it's almost useless if you stray more than 10 miles from a tower.
