Long read, but likely very true to a point.

Worked on biometrics over 10 years ago. Goal was 100% identification of everyone walking on or near an airport. Was nearing 90% when I left it. A decade more than solved that problem. With that massive, massive, massive data center big brother built in the desert, data bases are now relatively easily tied together and analyzed in milliseconds

Freedom for most is but an illusion.
