Oh yeah. I know. One of my fondest truck memories is running my old 92 F250 7.3idi with old motor oil and tranny fluid mixed in with the fuel. I could roll black coal for miles just with normal driving.

You guys have for me to thinking that this may be a doable idea.... I think my folks still have an old d350 sitting at their place....

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's definitely doable. You could even keep it stock independent front suspension with that 4BT. A 6BT would crush that front diff and you wouldn't find torsion bars enough to hold all that up with the two extra holes

Haven't been able to get any physical work done on the truck for a few days, but the project is moving forward.

I ordered and posted over in the Tool section, some Bosch L-Box stackable storage containers which will be fitted out with spare parts, tools, med kit, survival stuff and cinnamon disks!

Also started talking with Dan the man, the ultra good welder guy who built that cool alchy tank for me. I am going to get him to weld up the aluminum aux fuel tank for square D because he is very good at that and I can't even spell aluminiminum!

Additionally, I kicked the red dog away from chewing on the aft air bag lines and removed a cat from the snorkel. So things are looking up!

Two thoughts

First having dirt kicked on ya is not necessarily a bad thing

As far as a moving target, and grunt guys check me on this, but when helicopter people would get into a firefight with haji, the runners, we called them "squirters," always got shot first.

Still tryin to talk dad into a 3032E... they just bought 10 acres and he needs a tractor LOL
Hmmm,
I believe my dealer just outfitted a 3032 for a customer and the guy never purchased it. Walked away from the deal after signing the papers. The dealer never delivered it. I saw it sitting in front of the store with a loader and something else on it.
A Kentucky delivery might be a tad bit much. B U T, you know (or maybe you don't) that east of the Rockies, things are mucho cheaper...Just sayin...

That is a really nice piece of equipment... *drooling*

I wish i could justify one... but with 90% use case of mowing manicured lawn, I think a riding mower would be more appropriate for me.

Really nice tractor!
I thought it was a big riding mower, but it is actually a tractor. Greg, who delivered it said it was a lot heavier than the 500 and 700 series lawn mowers, but for cutting on slopes this machine was hard to beat

Loader comes with a grill guard

I can testify from using the 4720 with a premium grill guard that when bush hogging, it doesn't work...neither does anything else. The only thing that will save your tractor from damage while bush hogging is to turn the key off!

Not really a tractor by my reckoning, however the company calls it a compact utility tractor. Having owned several tractors in this size before, I can say they are very capable as long as you size the job appropriately.

The fuel tank is in the left fender, as is the fuel level gage

I like how they fit together, that is great. I have a question- do you worry about having to "unclick" all three to get to the bottom one or the middle one etc.? I like that you are integrating it into a support structure for the table but still not sure of "taking it apart" when you want to access it. Just curious, not trying to be a PITA in any way.

Could they be put on end so you could grab one and unclick it without disturbing the others? (I am not sure how the mounting mechanism works or if they could be done vertically with the mounting hardware underneath them attaching to the side/back section of the case? thereby having the handle up)
They click into the next unit at the base, flat side down. I do not know of any base unit other than a roller caddy, so I plan to fab one up once I see how it all works

I don't care about inconvenience. Security and being able to quickly locate things is what's important to me.

Wonder how well that'd work in the back of XJ.
It would work in the back of anything I'd imagine.

But the cool thing is your stuff is organized into a nearly indestructible box that you can separate and go with. You can grab the first aid kit and bandage someone up, then click it back in place, then grab the "Survival kit-box" and pull out your fire starter and get some heat going, then pull out the tool box and fix the leaky rad hose on the truck.

Very innovative.

I wanted to secure or perhaps organize stuff in the back of SquareD so I have chosen the Bosch L-Boxx stackable system to utilize

I ordered: Two of the 4.5" deep L-Boxx1
                One 6" deep L-Box 2
                Tow 10" deep, L-Boxx 3

I figure I'll make one of the 10" deep units a spare parts container. The second 10" will be a tool box. The 6" deep one will be a medical kit, a 4.5" one filled with survival stuff, spare this and that's and the final 4.5" L-Boxx 1 container for a catch all

The plan will be to build a fixture to allow the stack to clip into the floor and serve as a prop for one corner of a fold down desk/bunk. The opposite end of the bunk/desk thing will rest on the fuel tank.

I already have a selection of tools sitting here from Northern to start to fill the tool box, so we'll start to kit all of that out PDQ

I agree completely with the fuel issue. I need to do some research and spend sometime with our master mechanics to figure out what would be needed to convert it to run on alcohol. I imagine re-programming the ECM will be needed. On these older generation 5.3s that is a relatively easy task with a programmer or laptop and some time.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ya know, a simpler approach might be to figure out how to convert it over to being carbureted. That along with an analog distributor could solve the fuel metering issues.
Or just drop a 4BT in there!

Yes, you are on to something here for all the reasons you just mentioned

Your biggest weak link will be the availability of fuel.

Having said that, if you can get it to run on alcohol, then if you set up a still at your BO location you could possibly solve that problem

Maybe you should consider selling those side steps to fund a new set of diesel spark plugs or something. Then show up down here for a visit and I'll do you up a set of respectable steps/sliders/side ramming devices w/spare tool cache and aux air tank along with a secret compartment for two extra 30 round mags!

Another item checked off the list was upgrading all of the light bulbs to LEDs. There are 26, #921 style bulbs and 4, #1156 style bulbs inside the trailer. I haven't done the outside ones yet.
This is what the 2 styles look like:

The 1156 style on the left is good for 150 lumens, the 921 style on the right is rated at 250.
Could you give us a link/source for those bulbs?
