The ride is now considerably more harsh than stock. No denying that.
I would have to say before the lift, the Jeep rode like a car, now it rides like a truck.
Visual inspection during the install revealed that there had been regular contact between the bump-stop and the axle prior to the lift kit installation. Than's not the case anymore.
Well, I WAS looking at the ProComp lift... but I think I shall pass. Maybe just piece one together or, even stay stock! :o

Found this build simulator online. Helps you plan out a build and see how it would look when completed. http://www.ar15builder.com/Now go forth and have fun.

So how are the shocks in that kit? And how were the stock ones?

That Russian bad boy is a 9 X 39 not the pistol 9 X 19.
That pistol cartridge is just not that powerful. Witness all the little haji people we shot with it overseas...They survive usually. But it should keep an attacker off your butt unless he/she is amped on something. I know a guy who shot a large woman 5 times with a .45 and she still had enough juice remaining to plunge a knife into his buddy's shoulder! She died enroute to the hospital. She was high on something.
The likelihood of a home invader being amped on something is high. That's another reason I like the 12 gage option or the .45 auto. Those cartridges tend to equalize any positive effects any drug or combination of drugs might bring to the aid of the invader...
I know it's x39. It's basically the 9mm on top of an AK round, in simple terms. I had more of an answer, but my typing skills decided, I don't need to type longer replies with any sort of clarity. I'll re-attempt in the morning.

What do you guys think of a 9mm AR for the Wife as a home defense gun. I'm thinking short ,light, no recoil it won't go thru all the walls in the house, but still has 32 rds and load it with good home defense rounds it should be good for close quarters. What brands should I look at and which to stay away from. Thanks
If your and your wife think it'll be a good option, then that's what really matters. Do I think there is a valid point in what Chief, said about having a pistol, yes, I do. However, is she wants the 9mm in a rifle format then, go for it. The 9mm is a low recoil, generally accurate round for what you want to do use it for. The Russians' even have a "sniper rifle" chambered in 9mm that is suppressed so it does have tactical usage. Granted it's not 9x19 para but you get my point. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VSS_VintorezAs for brands to look at/choose/avoid.. That's a bit harder as I'm not sure how many makers there are out there. I think most of them are just 9mm uppers that connect to a standard lower. In the end, go with what makes you and the household 6 happy. If you can use it effectively then that's what matters.

It sure is nice to have some lights that can't be outdriven. We were going down the windy dirt road, before sunrise, at 30-35mph, and switched the 52" off, leaving just the high beams on, and I lost the road REAL fast.....we could only do 15mph with the stock lights.
Got any night pics of the light bar? And the light output?

Now you're just talkin' crazy!
Need we all be reminded of CMax, D2, Big Red, TacGator... Lol, all that extra light will come in handy when I have to go to work in a blizzard, where I can't see more than 10' , all because someone or multiple people "can't make it to work.." Plus those lights are Made In The USA... so you know... can't say no.

It will look bright! :D But in all fairness, pick the one that fits best for you. Either way don't think you'll be disappointed, you can never have too much light. I did the all on mod in my truck with 4300k HID's, all my buddy's can't believe the light.
Between the cargo rails it's 42", and gutter to gutter it's 54.6" If I'm remembering correctly. Either way will be nice due to the extra light. Maybe a 52" up front and the 46" on the bumper!
2711
« on: December 05, 2014, 06:06:07 PM »
Do it!!
Thinking about it. But might go with a 42" to stay between the cargo rails. Undecided on how a 52" would look, since it'll take up the entire roofline.

Ought to work
I'll bet you get into some work knocking those factory springs down judging from the rust everywhere else. Be sure you have new center pin bolts, the old ones will not be reusable.
2.5" seem reasonable
I'm really not looking forward to ANY of the bolts under XJ.. It's either going 2.5 or 3". Depends on what I find/can afford/doesn't look cheap.

Sorry for the pointless story, but all the comments about dogs made me laugh. We've had really good luck with GSD's. I know some of them can be kind of neurotic, my father in law used to train them and use them for K9 unit and once in a while he would get a really weird one that wasn't any good on duty. But most trained quite well. I have personally adopted two of them and they have both been fantastic. Both listen to me and obey commands better than my golden retriever that we got as a puppy. The first adopted GSD was a 130 lb male. We adopted him around 5 years old. The second we adopted at 3 years old and he was 100 lbs, but fairly tall, long and lean. This second one grew up in a Chicago downtown condominium and was walked to nearby dog parks. He reacted to meeting people and worked on a leash super well. But when I got home and let him off leash it got really funny. He still listened to my commands perfectly, but when I would throw the tennis ball, my 7 year old golden retriever was WAY faster than him. Something is not right here I said to myself. The new dog is 6 inches taller, 15 inches longer and way more muscular, why is he so slow? So I tested him jumping into my truck - fail, he came up way short. I found myself with a dog that apparently had never been free to be, well, a dog. The first time he was walking in the woods and came upon a 12 in diameter fallen tree he stopped as though it was a 6 foot fence. I had to basically drag him over the darn log. He couldn't jump over it. Never thought I would need to teach a dog how to run and jump. But fast forward 2 months later, he has adapted very well. He can now leap over 4 foot tall fences with ease and he is so ridiculously fast, I would never want to be the one running away from him. It is still funny thou because there are times, like jumping over a 5 foot wide creek that he still waits and watches to make sure the smaller golden retriever successfully makes the jump first. Perhaps he is just too smart to be the first one to get stuck in the mud. They are an interesting breed.
When I got Bear, him and the other puppies were housed in an outside garage, the place was a dump. When I went to look at the puppies to see if I wanted to buy one, I didn't see an food/water bowls. The puppies were wandering loose, no toys, just an old car seat they would rip up and lay on to get off the snow. The guy said they puppies would wander around and off the property. I was not happy.

1lb breakfast sausage-browned, drained 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese 4 eggs beaten, add pepper if you like 2 cups milk, mix with eggs 2 lbs Tater Tots
Preheat oven to 350.
In a 9x13 pan layer the sausage first, then cheese.
Pour egg mixture over meat and cheese.
Cover pan with Tater Tot layer.
Bake 45-50 minutes. Let it rest 5-10 minutes before serving. 8 servings
bobby, I figured you would get some good use out of something like this?
Yes, yes I will. I also wonder how it'd turn out with hashbrowns.. Possibly the same just different texture, and add pepper jack... oh yeah, I'm making it this weekend. the addition of a pound or so of Bacon as well.
I didn't think of that.... now I have to add bacon!

I book marked that puppy.
This looks pretty good for android at just $10 and I would probably have that in my pocket. I have a Kestrel too, even did a review on that about 10 years ago.

Those dynatracs doing well for ya in the snow, Bobby?
Affirm, I love these DuraTracs. They spin a little in the deep slush, but once they clean themselves, they dig and grab. I haven't used 4wd yet, except when I start at intersections or driving out of the underground parking garage and up the hill, mostly just to get all the joints and all that 4x4 voodoo in sync. I highly recommend them. I haven't gotten stuck yet, they feel pretty planted to the road as well. Next vehicle I own is getting a set.

I think it would be too long for that...It is over 7 feet long
I purchased 5. Two for SquareD, Two for C-Max, and one in case I screwed up.
Then I still have the girly ones left...Maybe I'll plaster them on the Frau's Caddy
Time to break out the stencils and cardboard and return to the lower enlisted/NCO time frame and spray paint, in keeping with font stylization.

If you have another, right under the rear window on the topper would be a good place for it. Seems like a relatively flat area, and one that is easily viewed by people come up behind D2 on the road.

Some of the best learning from those SKS's is cleaning off the cosmoline; just when you think it's all gone, you shoot it and discover the piston assembly squirts quite a bit when you forget about cleaning it outta there! ::)
Soak the metal parts in gasoline, helps remove most, if not all of it. Clean it up, put the wood in a turkey roaster pan, place in oven, heat it up and the cosmoline will leach out of the wood. If you have access to a decently strong steam cleaner the steam will cause the cosmoline to get runny and be easier to remove. The SKS is greatly underrated, by most people.

Does that dog have fat front legs?
Yes, he has/had tree trunks for legs. There's no sneakiness in this dog really. He lays against the couch he shakes it when he breathes, he doesn't gently lay down like most dogs, he just does a semi controlled crash, he sounds like a toddler stomping around on a hard wood floor when he walks. Holy cow, does Bear ever have huge feet! How Big is he now Bobby? I'm a Lab guy, but that is one fine looking shepherd! Too bad they grow out of the 'cute puppy' stage.
Yea, he has big feet. I'll try to get some updates pics of him standing next to mom. I really don't know how big he is, next time he's at the vet I'll find out. I'm gonna guess around 100 lbs. Well, he's still a puppy... turns 1 yr old on the 28th. Everyone who sees him when mom takes him to the pet store, out on walks, or to the dog park ends up gushing over him.

JR, I'll give ya Shasha...the onerous red dog. You can have her. Mostly golden with some German shepherd (Mother) in her. Sometimes she can back down the sled dog! Can one ship a dog across country?
Actually, yes one can ship a dog across the country. Has to be in a cage, a copy of all shot records and etc need to be affixed to the cage, and etc. Sorta like bring a pet home from Germany. Since, I mentioned Bear as a "puppy" I should post a pic of him in his Grizzly bear like state, well sorta, once I got him home, I pulled the twigs and etc out of his hair. As an added bonus, I was out throwing his ball for him and saw his print in the dirt. People ask to see how big his foot is so, here you go. He planted, dug in and launched...

Heck you ought to see the prices here in Kali.
Been looking for a lab, wife says maybe a gold, I am leaning to the black or choc. I have to get a puppy so it can grow up with the cat. Think the wife will say its "her or the dog" must go. To bad it would be so expensive to loose her,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I never really got into having a Lab as a pet. Always seemed to prefer GSDs as pets.

Always liked those Jeeps. It I needed a smaller ride than the sub, it would go that way. But I do like real frames!!
The dog does have nicer hair for sure,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
The Wranglers are WAY overpriced or the owners are asking too much for them in this area. I actually saw XJ after it was posted on Craigslist for 15 mins, bought it the next day. I should post up a pic of him when he was 5 months old when we got him. I named him Bear, since when I first saw him lumbering around a tree he looked like a Grizzly bear cub. I like that dog Want one Wife says no Two possible outcomes 1. She says yes 2. She goes! :o
I got Bear for $300. The guy said he would negotiate, but after seeing the crap conditions he and his 2 sisters' were in, I wasn't leaving him there. Mom said the same thing, but wanted to get the sisters as well, but that was out of the question. You can probably find a puppy or young one for sale, or adoption. Oh SNAP, get her a wee German Shepherd puppy for Christmas!! No one can say "No" to those little eyes and ball of puppy fur, and little puppy feet. Unless you get a bear cub looking puppy..

It's been a couple weeks since applying the vinyl. It is peeling loose in many places. It looks awful. I just imagine what it would look like flappin' in the breeze collecting dirt all over the exposed adhesive. This stuff is terrible, don't use it! I'm going to tear it off!
I thought you'd already removed it and continued on with the spray paint idea.

Which doors you need Bobby? I'll keep an eye peeled and ah-lookin down here just south of salts-ville
Only door that has rust is the rear passenger door. Everything else is fender/rockers. And the rust that's on the door, is a 1/2"x 1/2" roughly, so it can be trimmed out, bondo'd and bedlinered.

however with 37" tires you are starting to get into the range. 40" and bigger, definitely upgrade. But then again with upwards of 1300 ft/lbs of torque, I just might be there already.
When it doubt, go big or go home. At least that's what I've heard, I'm still stock.

Just order the doors from a junkyard. Specify no rust, get them from Texas, or similar no salt place Should be easy. No hassle and better than repaired
Then the search begins.
