If there was only one weapon.....
« on: August 08, 2015, 09:03:43 PM »
If you were in an EOTWAWKI situation and you had to leave your house with only one weapon, what would it be and why?

Forget alternate scenarios, just roll with this,, what would it be?

I'll start.  I'd take the Wilson combat 870. Reliable easy to find ammo for, makes mince meat out of zombies.  Wife can operate.

If I'm able to travel in my w350 I'd probably take my 870. If on foot or kayak or othertwise restricted I'd take the S&W 686. Old school reliabilty, maueverability, portabilty. Never malfunctions and likes any ammo I give it.

I'd have to go with an AR w/ELCAN Spectre 1-4x.

It's hard to beat a shotgun, but I would choose my AR. Easier to carry more ammo, reaches out farther, plus I just received the 100 round mags in the mail. A little tough to use (but not impossible) on birds/small game, but would work on deer, dogs, rabbits, etc.

when I finally get one, it will be a regular M16A4 (removable carry handle with the iron site).  I am a bigger guy and I have no issue handling that like most smaller guys handle M4.

You can't use D2 or a Chinook to move about Chief, you have to walk.

Man that is a tuff one. I have ammo cans full of 556 ans 12g.

OK, I would take the M4 and the wife would carry the 12g with kids each having an ammo box and food.

Oh, the 23 was already in my pocket.

But playing by the rules of the thread, the 12g. Up close or 100 out with slugs. Ammo is easy to find.

No one thing being perfect for everything I grab the AR on the way out.  Years of carrying it as the only option teach you to get good with it.

I'd take the cross bow. It's quiet, it's ammo is light and reusable, and it has plenty enough range as well. Also Dogs can't sniff it out.

I like the way you think Norm.

I tend to find how I think is a bit off the center of what most see as "normal" LoL

I'd have to go with commonality of parts and rounds. Then there is the fact I've carried one and used one for significant amounts of time. It would have to be the AR. Just as many are familiar, they are common and parts are readily available when we begin to look, and .223/5.56 is probably in close to every house that house guns.

Which leads to resupply being possible when your initial load out runs dry.

That being said, my sons 10/22 break down sure would be superb as well because of size, noise level, and amount of rounds able to be carried. However resupply might be more difficult.
