Kids and electronics...Limit their time
« on: April 07, 2017, 10:48:32 AM »
My boys were spending too much time in their electronic gaming world

I made a change to all that

They have to earn it

They get an equal amount of time to play with their electronics as they spend working

If they sweep the floor, they get 20 minutes game time

A load of clothes washed and folded = 1 hour.

If they read for one hour, they get one hour game time.

Yesterday, two hours of pulling weeds earned them two hours of modern warfare

An hour spent reading the bible earns them an hour of minecraft

And on it goes. They can't play it until they earn it first.

I like that Don. I agree that video games should be viewed as a reward. And no matter what limiting time is important.

My 6 year old won't have any game time at all for 2 weeks. Got caught with moms kindle in his bag. He took it to school.

I think that is a great plan Mr. Don. I see way too many kids these days who are wrapped so tightly in video games that they lose touch with reality. It is really sad.

This one doesn't just apply to kids.  Plenty of adults out there running around with there head staring at their phone or other electrical device oblivious to the world around them.  Everytime we drive someplace I am disappointed in how much time my wife spends staring at her phone instead of looking around and looking at the world.

Thanks!

Last night, my boys realities started with several wheel barrows full of just picked weeds!

Then they turned into comedians. One came up, pushing the wheel barrow, acting like he was high, said, "hey man, want some weed!"

Then later on while I was working on the truck wheels, I hear them arguing, which is nothing new. Big one says, "Problem with you is that you have no balls!" Immediately the little one counters, "Do so, wanna see em!"

I was laughing so hard, I had to take a seat...

Thank you Lord for this abundantly funny and enjoyable life you have given us here on Earth, Thank You very much!
