finished up the polaris today. duracell is proud of their batteries (mine was completely dry.. charging at 9volts at idle and 18-19 at WOT.. no bueno).. and that was after a new voltage regulator. so.. new battery, voltage regulator, fuel lines, fuel filter, air filter blown out, upper and lowe steering shaft bushings, inner and outer ball joints on both sides, choke cable handle, left handle bar switch disassembled and cleaned, ingition switch cleaned, all electrical connections scuffed and dielectric greased, fresh paint and a new tail light bulb.. here she is

quick update while we await the arrival of the front axle shims

identical dimensions to the original, without the 3/8" rod covering where the grill is and out of slightly heavier material. just mocked up for now.. needs some mounting tabs and some black paint to finish it out.

you think a tight stall might be some issue with what the kaiser is experiencing? seems to not want to return to idle after a quick bump of the skinny pedal while in gear. (even just bumping it to get it moving from a dead stop and taking your foot of the fuel quickly..)

i'm sure you have already done lots of looking on the internetzz on the swap.. but there are a few small things here and there i believe i've committed to memory, but are also in the 715.9  build.

one major one being the machining of the coupling from trans to case and swapping over the shift and TV lever from the 46 to the 47rh..

im currently trying to fiure that out. trying to get some details on the rest of it. at least it's from a truck where sheetmetal can be easily found, and the rear doors are easier than day a crew can dodge, to find. he's only a couple hours from me, and will hopefully be too tied up over the holidays to move it. may ride out and take a look in a week or so..

not counting my chickens just yet.. i'm waiting to see what he's thinking. whether it's realistic or outrageous. and.. i may just get the rolling chassis and body. don't really have time to work on the engine and such yet. but they are easier to find than a good body and frame. (been tossing the idea around for a common rail 5.9/48re combo from an 03-05..) but they're just details.. i judd need the BONES!! hahah

One way to tell which is which. If it has heat it's a house or a shop, no heat it's a shed or a barn. If it has a loft it's a barn, if it has no loft  but 4 walls it's a outbuilding. If it doesn't have 4 enclosed walls it's automatically a shed even though often called a barn. (loafing barn as an example) Outbuildings can be sheds if they are just for storage, then the one open wall isn't a requirement to be a shed. LoL

A grainery is used to store and move grain, a crib is used to dry corn yet on the ear, a grainery can be used to process ear corn to just grain...sometimes these are called elevators, but only if they have a leg. Then you have the annex, which is far different than the crib and is used to store grains.

i think i found my signature..

being away from family at the moment (not long.. just worn for a bit) and thinking about what i get to go back to in a couple days.. made me tear up for these families. every year my parents (mom mostly) asks me what i want for christmas. my answer has always been 'mom i don't need anything' (and she knows that.. we've all be on overseas mission trips and seen what 'without' looks like).. and not many ppl here (USA) are in that situation. but when you hear and see it in your backyard.. it makes you so greatdul for what you have. and i just had another one of those realizations.  lovely fiancĂ©, a house, cars, tools, toys, clothes.. and food is never a concern.

i picked this thread up too late it seems.. but will be more on top of it for other occasions. don, you're right. no child, no innocent child.. should go without when we are beyond blessed. i think the best part about the whole idea, is just the girls knowing someone out 'there' cares for them. bc they have only received it from one person, and one of them isn't even a parent.

W250/M37 combo doesn't sound horrible. and all the 'modern' suspension/steering stuff exists for it. along with a bolt in rear tank as you mentioned. i think the 440/727/black box/205 would easily work. i'm just thinking fuel mileage/reliability (not that a built 440 would have many issues..). if you're going to just drive it around town.. 440 all the way. but any cross country stuff or anything other than stuff in the bed being towed.. 6bt and 727.

btw.. id swap you a 727/205 from a cummins for a 5 speed and tcase  ;D hahah

Oh,  And that must be one huge "shed".  Probably the size of a small walmart....

i'm tempted to make a trip out to the 'farm' this spring to see what's going on out there. we keep hearing about 'sheds' and 'barns'. well.. it's time someone else took a look. hahah

i replaced the headlights on my polaris 325 with an almost identical size LED spot light (gift from my brother) and they're amazing. can see ~100 yds down a path. i'd almost prefer 1 spot and 1 flood, but adjusted correctly they cover more than enough for me to have decent vision overall. and i'd almost venture a guess that they pull less power than the conventional incandecents that were there. a 20" bar.. might be a different story. but 2 2"x3" pods.. maybe not

if i ever find myself living in a location where a snowmobile is a primary means of travel.. it will instantly be for sale, along with the house and everything in it. hahahah

but really.. that is a nice addition. i may have to do something like that on my 4wheeler, provided i get home soon and it back together before the next duck hunting outting. (i may regret this..) but you can never have too much light. hahah

not that you'd need any more ground clearance with 40s.. but i vote ford HP front 60.. esp if it's of the king pin variety. a ford NP 205 can be found about as easily as a SBC, and AA makes a 23 spline female to 31 spline male and clocking ring for the DSD NP205. can kill 2 birds with one stone, well actually 3: higher front pinion (away from those nasty rocks) and a flattened Tcase (maybe tuck it up high enough to clear the bottom of the frame rails for a sweet skid plate) and less front DS angle, which i would imagine would be helpful if you put much lift on it, along with a short 3speed auto..

but i wouldn't argue with an HX30, PPump'd 4bt with some tweaking, an NV4500 and an atlas 4 speed case. geared so low you could drop your umm.. 'beverage' while wheeling, hope out with it in gear, retrieve and re-enter all with 2 steps down the trail..

its almost the least you can do for some men who gave so much. not to mention just how much fun they will have working on the ol girl again. if i were in your shoes, i'd set up a video camera with gold audio in the shop to capture all that transpires and the stories being swapped around. can't wait to see this come together.. but my vote will always be a direct injected oil burning turbo in whatever size flavor you desire. hahah

My cruise attitude is linked to the story of Noah - get on a boat to escape peril, get back on dry ground as soon as possible!  Now, I might do one of those "River" deals.......figure I can swim to shore there if necessary!   ;D

Well HH6 and I took the dogs for a walk at the beach.
We both commented how it seemed colder than earlier.
Even the dogs weren't all that cool with it...

Turns out were under an extreme cold warning.
Wind chill in excess of -45 to -55...
Yeah it cooled off some...
-15 this morning, -30ish base temp overnight.
I'm fearing what Mother Nature has in store for us now, being November was so warm relatively speaking.

those temps don't even compute in my southern brain. hahah

where exactly is that??
