I mentioned the tractor three point hitch was repaired

Here's the test lifting one of Deere's new cutters. No, I didn't buy it. I am holding out for a heavy duty (Spendy) Bush-Hog brand cutter so I can munch up small Jap kars along with other weeds, unwanted trees and wildlife which is too slow or too stupid to get out of the way!

I was messing around with the DR a bit today. It backfired and then refused to run properly. It is acting like it has a vacuum leak. I don't know this 40mm Mikuni that well, so I guess I'll have to become an expert on yet something new.

I drained the gas to be sure it wasn't bad gas or something simple like that. While I have it down, I'll run a dual gas line setup into a larger filter so that I can capture fuel from either side and any time

So that is the scene as of today. Have some farm playin' tomorrow, but should be able to get some work on it this Sunday

Next, I built a mount on the low section of the inner wheel well to front radiator mount. I'll come up from there with a couple of pieces so that the thing will screw together/apart for ease of installation and maintenance

Next it is back to the air filter bulkhead so that I can get the snorkel system fully operational

I began with fitting the hose and that adapter I made up earlier.

However I quickly realized I would be better using the stock filter can and building something around that. So I found the old mount and cleaned it up and fitted it

I started the day with swapping in the new Marine Injectors. That business went along pretty well, and after bleeding the lines, the motor fired right up.
But
It idles rough now with a bit of a lope and some of the white unburned fuel thing has come back to visit. I am not sure if after running it 15 minutes it still has some air trapped in the lines or another gremlin has come to visit. It was too hot to bleed, so I'll get to that next time I work on it

Another useless factoid.

In the "Posi" differentials of old, around the 60's ish to prevent the chattering of the clutch plates, GM would have you add a pint of friction modifier to the oil back there.

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / Such a time as this
« on: July 22, 2016, 12:17:05 PM »
Donald Trump was created for such a time as this!

In the wake of despicable, out in the open, gross violations of the law, and all that is right this man has come forth.

http://video.foxnews.com/v/5026200874001/why-is-clinton-off-the-hook-but-a-marine-was-forced-out/?#sp=show-clips

After watching all his children and his wife speak about their family, their love for each other, their country and of this man I was left with the impression and expectation that we may be on to something with Mr. Trump. Then last night Ivonica painted such a strong and loving portrait of her father that it sealed the deal on the genuineness of their passionate speaches.

But it did not end there. I listened to the 1 + 15 acceptance speech he gave and I realized I was looking at greatness. What has surfaced from the primaries and the lies and deceit of the Obama/Hillary administration is a man. A man who said enough is enough. HE decided to do something about it himself. And God has equipped him with the experiences, with the education, with the financial ability and the heart to lead us out of the quagmire we find ourselves living in. What has emerged is a man destined for such a time as this.

He is unstoppable, and more importantly, he cannot be bought. I do not believe he really wants to be the president. I mean why would he? He will take an enormous cut in pay, if he accepts any money at all. He will have to live away from his family which he loves so very much. He will be out of his city, New York, that he also loves so much. He will have to work with many people who singularly hate him and would wish him dead. He is going to be the focal point for hatred from the evil that is so virile in this once great nation.

But, he doesn't care. He said that out of all the men out there, I can get this done, I know how. I have the money, the power, and I have the love for my country to set family, home, comfort and everything aside just so that I can work my butt off in my waning years to make us better. Who benefits from all that? Does he? Well think about it, he's a billionaire. Is he going to set things up so that some billions more flow into his shady organization like the Clinton's do. No, I don't believe he is about that at all. His children are business juggernauts in their own right. It is time for them to take their corporation into it's future. This man is legit...He is really doing this for the common man.

Do you notice him when he talks about carpenters, about electricians, about plumbers and concrete guys? He likes them! He cares about them. Heck he knows them, as in he knows laborers on his project and so does his daughter and son. He genuinely cares! He is not to be dismissed as a fake like Hillary. He is genuine. He is anti-establishment, but not for the sake for being anti establishment. He just seeks out the best and truest solution and focuses on the essence of the problem or deal. They refereed to the art of the deal. These people are post graduate deal makers. They are the masters, teachers. Putin and China and Korea and Japan have no idea what is coming their way. Trump is not fake, he is not so much anti establishment, no, he is just focused differently. where Washington deal-makers have to consider political ramifications and often feather the bed of unsavory types to get their one good thing done, Trump doesn't consider those factors. He looks at the bottom line...He looks at money.

I have long said that with all things, simply follow the money to the truth. Trump is wired that simply. A wall on our southern border is not something he has to schmooze this governor or that senator over. Nope to him it is, "Who can provide the concrete, the steel and the labor for the proposed budget" and little more. He will crush the old way of doing business. A way that squanders away 90% of our assets buying off corrupt politicians and corporations. All that extra money and the money from lots of inefficient government workers who are going to find themselves jobless after January 20th will pay for the righting of our heavily listing ship, this America.

We are sitting at the dawn of a new Reagan age. A man just like Reagan. We are looking at the prospect of making things right again and destroying the efforts of evil socialists. Yes, I said evil, because they are. Get used to in your face honesty because a big guy with the weird red hair is about to fire the kill shot into the heart of Political correctness.

Donald Trump and his family are what we need. He is a man whom God has raised for such a time as this!

It seems like most of your equipment is diesel so having a gasoline tank may not be as beneficial but I believe it is possible to get tax exempt gasoline similar to off-road diesel.  At least I thought we did on the farm.
At the moment we use gasoline for electricity production and a couple asundry tools like the chainsaw. In the future when I hard mount a generator in the "Power Shed" I may have to consider powering it from Propane and upping my supply to a couple thousand gallons of the stuff...

When it comes to fuel tanks my plan is to purchase and own the fuel tanks

However, I want a local propane company to install a 500 or 1,000 gallon tank into a pit I will construct. I have a reason for doing it that way...

The fuel will be purchased from a local company which routinely sells to farms...

Plan on seeing temporary fuel through until next year, however, I plan to have propane on property when the cold Wx hits.

OK, for today's update:

The tractor has been transported back down to the farm. It runs perfectly. We even washed it up and sprayed some wax on it at the truck wash.

We replenished the gasoline stocks down there, and I am seeing a couple of fuel tanks in the near future. One gasoline, one red diesel. I am now hauling 30+ gallons of fuel down there each time I drive down.

The dry pond is not so dry any more, it has filled a bit more, although the filling seems to have slowed down. If I accidentally "Mushed through" a weep hole in the clay with Sarge, then if and when I really clean that hole out with a proper excavator, I should have a lot more volume.

Tomorrow, we may go for the 6,000 gallon water tank in the morning...

Helicopters don't need a "Strip"  :)
That also went through my mind, but a plane is I think waaay more economical to buy and operate.

Not unless he has a Maintenance Depot right next to said pad!

Don, I sure hope you fly better than you operate farm equipment!!!

All joking aside have you thought about Bell, or Enstrom, Robinson, and the Huges500 are pretty cheap if you can afford to maintain them.  Or go the much cheaper route of fixed wing and strip, there is always powered paragliding!

Well, let's just say lots of different aircraft would be welcomed now and then.

As for my personal aircraft. It's either going to be a Super Huey 2, or maybe a Bell 412, or an AW-139...Painted OD green of course

That kobelco started sounding way better at first, then sounded too good to be true toward the end because I assumed it was similarly priced.  But for that much additional money, makes sense that it should be that much better.

Have you thought about renting a smaller sized one for a week to see if can do what you think it can?
I have thought about that. Weekly rates as high as mid 2K range and I only get 2 weeks. I'm the sort that has a job a day forever. Ditch here, pluck a tree there, lift up roofing over there sort of thing. I'd work that machine a little bit each and every week whilst getting big property improvements continuing.

For that reason a reasonably priced machine makes sense to own to me.

So how is Jo-Jo doing, or how did the dr appointment go.
Still in my prayers, as this is not a fun time for all.

Following the Dr's appointment late last week, we were thinking the prayers were helping. The bone moved a little bit and now it is healing by building another piece of bone over top the break in one area. The doctors after seeing that decided not to give her the surgery and allow this process to continue. The femur in that leg will be larger in circumference than normal due to this "Abnormal" regrowth, but it will/should be strong.
Praise Jesus!

I called for information on that unit today. I got to the sales guy who gave me the number of the owner. I am presently trying to get in touch with him

Now that unit is a 120 size, roughly 24,000 pound excavator

I ran across a good used Kobelco unit in the very town I reside today and went to check it out. It is a 2005, 10 years newer than the Hitachi. It is a 160, or 32,000 pound unit instead of the 24K, so it's roughly 50% heavier. The Kobelco has lower time, some 5400 hours and is in pretty good condition. It doesn't have any leaks, the rotation bearing assembly is tight, as are the arm bushings and lift mounts. The bucket bushing is GONE, as in needing immediate maintenance.

It has a 40" general construction bucket with all new teeth. I'd say the undercarriage is 50%-75% and the tracks grousers look to be full height. Best of all, it has an air conditioner which does blow out cold air! This one has a Mitsubishi diesel engine of around 100 horsepower which started right up with no smoke.

OK, Tractor is back up and running!

A primary rock-shaft control valve was sticking open which prevented hydraulic pressure to be trapped. The JD folks replaced the valve and even installed new seals on the piston and put it all back together.

I watched it effortlessly lift a small rotary cutter (No I'm not buying that one!) over and over, and hold it elevated for a while.

I'm back in business!
