Built a special chair for my grand daughter. She fell and broke her left femur and is casted up from her belly to her toes. So a special arrangement was needed...

Next up on the medical crisis side is one of the pre rangers. Apparently he had to go to the bathroom while down near the creek this past weekend. He used some leaves to wipe. Those leaves were the poison ivy variety. We have an absolute mess with that one! Rangers....

X2 on ammo accumulation

Gun Play is coming

Be it from a reenergized terrorist sect that is not under much pressure

or from criminals who are coddled by courts afraid of being outside PC parameters

or from self righteous rioters who just want an excuse to loot and burn

A government agency or official operating outside the law or

Pick any of the above, they all will hurt you, and you need to be able to defend yourself.

I recommend making a tripod with a snatch block hanging from it (3 point or bucket on tractor strategically placed would work as well). Use winch on truck & have Duane lower you into said well. Why Duane you ask? Because he will document said folly with lots of pictures and commentary that makes for wonderful entertainment for all us DOT's!  ;D

Don't completely clear the area. Leave some treeline for a windbreak, and shady areas to relax in.
I'm not completely clearing it. I am leaving the hardwood trees for the most part and a couple cedars here and there

Now if someone can answer me the idea behind youth and gym clothes for every activity.  When I was a young lad if grandpa came to take me to work on the farm I was not allowed any other then long sleeve shirt and jeans.   The one time I didn't obey he let me walk through stinging nettle and reap what I sowed.

Raising boys into RealMen!!
Mine do pick up some poison ivy from time to time, but it is so humid here that long clothes get soaked, stick to you and overheat you fast.

I wouldn't normally spend that much money but I got a used yeti 75 for about half price so I couldn't turn it down. If I were buying another cooler today it would either be a Cabela's brand or a K2 from their scratch and dent page. The people I know who have bought scratch and dent K2s say the flaws are minimal and they still carry their lifetime warranty.

http://www.k2-coolers.com/index.php/clearance/scratch-and-dent.html

By the way: I really enjoy reading this forum. There are some talented people who post here.

L-Ball,

K2, forgot all about them.

Used them in the Armee along with the Igloo water coolers

Good stuff! If I looked hard enough I'm sure I could come up with some ballistic information on these units from shrapnel or AK-47 bullets or from knife punctures from some bored NCO grunt who was hitchin' a ride!

Glad you posted, keep it up, share away, make us smarter (Doesn't apply to some people here, and I'm not mentioning DOT's or anyone specific! ;-))

The box scraper is a super handy tool which works so well to grade the loosened earth and at the same time tear out the remaining roots. What you're left with is a great area to sow some grass seed

I highly encourage the use of child slave labor in these projects. If they belong to you, they will know the value of a hard day's work and be so thankful of what they accomplished...And they eat like men at the end of the day!

We went after the hedge row. Have about 200-300 feet to clear

The technique that works best (Thanks Mike!) is to use Sarge to push the tree over, then dig under the root ball and pop the tree out of the ground with the bucket curl back

Then I come in and buck the root ball and upper part of the tree off, then carry those parts to the burn pile, then go back and either trim the trunks or fill in the holes

Following that, I'll pull a water sample, then a second in a few days and start to test for what's down there

Fingers crossed!

The way I built the "Electric shutters" the hinges should have been welded onto the long side, so I'll have to modify that. In the meantime, I screwed the wooden panels in place for ascetics.

I wanted to start clearing out the well, so I welded up this grapple hook out of some scrap

Hmmm, the tilt of the earth is off it's 23.44 degrees!

And the moon declination of 5.1 degrees is way off. It now rises close to 19 degrees north and sets 17-19 degrees further south than normal!

Information from recorded lunar sightings...Something is definitely amiss...

One thing I found very interesting in looking at this is the biblical perspective and alignment. Britain is due for three days of no sun what so ever if the earth does it's normal winter tilt coupled with the amount it is now off! Read revelations with respect to three days of darkness.

There has to be a special place in he** for HOA board members. Thank GOD I don't have one but some of the stuff my friends put up with would drive me ape-s**t!! >:(

Nice work on the fence!
Concur

Having said that, I am the president of my HOA as most of you know, I think

I try to keep things sane through not taking action.

Everyone has this or that to say about their neighbors. And some of them come to me to ask that I do something about it. My first question has always been, "Did you talk to them about it?" If the answer is no, and it always is because people these days are spinless, I just tell them to work it out, or in one case, "grow a pair!"

I have served as the president of this HOA since its inception. We have lowered fees almost every year. I do volunteer work, like cutting the grass around the momument for years, and with no pay for the work. With all that I have done, now I hear that some neighbors have become uncomfortable with my being the president, and want a change.

Well, fine, who wants the stinkin' job anyway?

Think is, my vice president is a control nazi. He feels it ti the duty of HOA officers to run these complaints to ground. He likes to send certified letters...Heck, he even sent me one for my having my camper in my driveway more than 48 hours. OK, it was there for two months...

He has a son who is a fellon who was unjustly convicted, hates cops, is a strong Obama supporter and so forth. So yea, I am serving to keep the madness to a minimum. Should I step down, I can only imagine the quality of life around here.

I was thinking if I did step down, he would take the presidency and I just might give him a challenge or two. I was thinking of buying a junk truck or two and park it in the front yard of my almost million dollar home. But only for 48 hours...Then move it to the side of my property bordering an a$$hole who threatened to shoot my dog. Let him get acquainted with the trucks and all...

Yea. couldn't agree more, HOA's are no fun

Let's start the day off right!
Post a pic or a story of a great cup of Joe, or "Quoffee" as my friends in New York like to say.

And for me, every morning as I raise my cup, I'll say a little prayer for the men and women on this site

Today's:

Father it is a great day, thank you for it! Thank you for my friends who I have met on this web site. Bless them in some special way today. Encourage them, stand beside them in their struggles, strengthen them as they strive to be strong men of God. Show them how to lead, as it is said in the Rangers, to be a tab bearer, not a tab wearer. Give them wisdom and make them of clear mind. Let them be lovers of the truth and hate what is evil. And, Father, give them, each one, something to do for the kingdom, and in the name of Jesus, I say thank you and amen.

Don,

thanks for the prayer, but I must say, that looks more like coffee milk...
Well, I have a "Touch" of creamer in there :-)

D.O.T. / Looking at a bush hog
« on: June 28, 2016, 10:54:22 PM »
I think I need a new rotary cutter

Right now I am thinking about the Bush-Hog brand

It is the original rotary cutter, and from what I can see, it is about the stoutest unit made

I think I'll stay with the 6 foot model. Bush hog makes a 10 series which is a light duty unit. That would be a no-go for me based on my history with the stuff.

There is a BH320 which is a heavy duty unit that cuts up to 4" trees. It is very costly and at the moment I am very cost conscious.

In the middle is the BH20 series, or the BH26 for the 6 footer. Has a 130HP gearbox and really heavy steel. I think it weighs over 1000 lbs! Has a good warranty and for me is $3100 out the door.

Anyone have any knowledge of the product, or a better cutter? My J Deere was junk and costs a lot more than the Bush-Hog brand

My bad...

We picked up a GSD puppy, named him Scout

I always talked about the Hollywood dog, Rin-Tin-Tin...

Kat found a person who bred GSD from his bloodline!!!!!!!!

$700 later and 6 hours of driving and we had Scout. He's coming up on 11 weeks of age

There is a long stretch of highway coming east out of Cheyenne going over into Nebraska. A lot of the road is built up on a raised earthen thing. A skilled pilot, in a Chinook, for example, could fly in close formation to a semi in the middle of the night. You know those all nighters when you are having thoughts of ailen abductions...those nights?

The road was perfect so that he could tuck right in beside the truck, so close that the rotor blades were over the cab by maybe 10 feet. I, well, he could ease the cockpit up next to the truck cab to watch the guy doing the "What the heck is going on" routine. Then one could snap a pic and pull up and turn away, just like you were never there.

Ah, NVG training can be so much fun.

Next week, I'll tell you about flying on rail roads toward a train, with the landing light on...

Maybe you should use Sarge to clear out the trees. Push it all into a burn pile, while simultaneously clearing out a section.
Hmmmm, where might we have heard this idea before, Don?  You could pick-out the log quality ones with your jaw bucket on your green tractor, buck the limbs and root end afterwards.

I heard some Blackhawk pilots saying " no Chinook pilot would have the skills necessary to do that maneuver anyway"

You should know better than to listen to any Hawk pilot

I guess I can say that i really put a cooler to the test.... About 3 times over the Summer (on full moons)a group of us meet to camp in the Imperial Sand Dune recreation area just west of Yuma. I picked up a Yeti 125 quart cooler and have been very pleased with the results, that thing just works. It was pricey but I have no regrets. I would assume most of the high end brands would also work but I can only tell you that this cooler keeps my Barley POP and water right where I like them.. ICE COLD.  As mentioned above you will get a much better result if you pre-cool the cooler and beverages. Also just dont buy any ice from the gas station, you want a Big solid piece of ice that is crystal clear and frozen hard.
I do run the AC/Genny in the Camper but only in the bedroom and only to sleep, so during the day the cooler is setting in a hot camper well over a hundred degrees and really never gets cooler that 90 at night.
Camping in the Dez in the summer sounds crazy but nothing like shredding the dunes when no one else is out there.....
Oh, and it is a dry heat.......
We ride from just before sun up till about 1000, then again at night till about midnight.. the rest of the time we nap and swim in the canal all day......

Faith Discussion / Are you a true believer? Or a Hypocrite?
« on: June 28, 2016, 10:10:37 AM »
I came across this in my morning reading. Its a bit worrisome

Allow it to search you and reveal the truth

This will challenge you...

How to Distinguish a True Christian from a Hypocrite

by Tom Hicks

How can you tell whether you’re a genuine believer or a false professor? One of the best books describing the true nature of conversion is The Christian’s Great Interest by William Guthrie. The great Puritan theologian John Owen highly commended it and wrote, “The author [of The Christian’s Great Interest] I take to have been one of the greatest divines that ever wrote; it is my Vade-mecum [that is, “handbook”], and I carry it and the Sedan New Testament, still about with me. I have written several folios, but there is more divinity in it than in them all.”

Consider what William Guthrie says in chapter 5 of his book about the differences between the true Christian and the hypocrite. Here are some ways in which the hypocrite may be like the Christian.

1. A hypocrite may be influenced by the gospel in every part of himself. He may come to great knowledge of God’s truth (Heb 6:4). His emotions about Christ may be high (Matt 13:20). He may even experience drastic changes in the outward man, like the Pharisee who prayed, “God, I thank You that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, etc.” (Lk 18:11–12).

2. A hypocrite may look to others like he’s a true believer. He might talk of the law and the gospel (Ps 50:16), openly confess his sin to his own shame (1 Sam 26:21), and humble himself in sackcloth (1 Kgs 21:27). He may even carefully consider what duties he needs to perform and seek after them (Is 58:2), persevere even in hard times, give his possessions away to God and the saints, or even give his body away to be burned (1 Cor 13:3).

3. A hypocrite may advance far in God’s ordinary graces. He may come under great convictions of sin, just as Judas did (Matt 27:3–5). He may tremble at the word of God, just as Felix did (Acts 24:25), rejoice in receiving the truth (Matt 13:20), and have many experiences of tasting the good graces of God (Heb 6:4).

4. A hypocrite may have some characteristics very similar to the saving graces of the Holy Spirit. He may have a kind of faith, like Simon Magus who “believed also” (Acts 8:13) but then proved to be a false believer. He may have a kind of legal and outward repentance that looks very much like true repentance (Mal 3:14). He may have a great and powerful fear of God, like Balaam did (Num 22:18). He may experience a kind of hope (Job 8:13). The hypocrite may even have some love, as Herod had of John (Mk 6:26).

5. A hypocrite can even have great and powerful experiences of God. He may have “tasted of the heavenly gift” and become “partakers of the Holy Spirit” and experienced the “powers of the age to come” and yet not be genuinely converted.

So, what are the marks of a true believer? How is genuine conversion to be distinguished from false conversion? Guthrie provides five marks of a true believer that are not possessed by the hypocrite.

1. A true believer’s heart is changed forever. In Jeremiah 32:39 the Lord says, “I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me forever.” Hypocrites never have a changed nature. Hypocrites want Christ for the good that He might do them in the world. But a true believer’s heart loves Christ as the all-satisfying treasure of this life and the next.

2. A true believer’s changed life comes from a heart of love to Christ. Hypocrites can clean up their outward behavior to be seen by men, to ease their troubled consciences, or to keep themselves from the consequences of their sins. But true believers love Christ and keep His commandments for His sake, to serve Him, to know Him, and to bring glory to His name (Ps 119:6).

3. A true believer seeks Christ and His kingdom above all else. This is the one thing necessary: Christ’s friendship and fellowship. But that is never the “one thing” and heart-satisfying choice of the hypocrites. True believers, on the other hand, desire that this “better part would never be taken from them” (Lk 10:42).

4. A true believer submits to the righteousness of God. He abandons all hope in himself and his own righteousness, and rests wholly in the righteousness of Christ for his acceptance before God. A true believer rests in Christ and Him only as his Savior. Hypocrites don’t do this (Rom 10:3). They depend, in some degree, upon their own righteousness.

5. A true believer has the three great essentials of genuine Christianity. First, he is broken in heart and emptied of his own righteousness so as to loath himself (Lk 19:10). Second, he takes up Christ Jesus as the only treasure and jewel that can enrich and satisfy (Matt 13:44). Third, he sincerely closes with Christ’s whole yoke without exception, judging all His “will just and good, holy and spiritual” (Rom 7:12). A hypocrite does none of these things.

D.O.T. / "A Cup of Joe" the Quoffee thread!
« on: June 28, 2016, 09:50:30 AM »

And why on earth does she and that yahoo president like to stop here so often?

I finished the day using Sarge to push up the stumps left over from my harvesting those cedar logs. It made quick work of those, and they are now ready for some intimate relationship with fire.

I then pushed about three feet of dirt out of the dry pond and pushed down all the cedars on one end. I started to get into some gooey clay...Could there be water down there. I make it 12-15 feet deep and less than 100 meters from the well.

I'm going to use the box blade and cut a drainage ditch along the road into that pond. If I can get water to it, maybe it will hold it???
