Title: Old Fashioned Service Is Alive
Post by: TexasRedNeck on November 18, 2015, 11:18:58 PM
When I bought my dually I had the dealer install the B&W Turnball system and the Companion Fifth Wheel hitch.  Its been a great hitch and I really like it.  There is a square post that fits into the gooseneck socket and the Companion slides over it and a single bolt on top torques it vertically and two U bolts affix it to the post.

Inexplicably when I went to remove the hitch last time the single bolt was very stiff and I could not get it out so I pulled the hitch and post together.  Later in the garage I put the impact to it and after much effort it came out with all the threads missing.

I always start it by hand and it was not cross threaded.

I called B&W without much expectation and was pleasantly surprised.

1. A live person answered the phone ( In Kansas, not India)
2. She was intelligent and helpful
3 She was able to help without transferring me
4. I asked her how to go about buying that piece and she said that she would send me a new post and bolt for free.
5. I asked her if I could pay for expedited shipping because I plan to take it out for Thanksgiving and she sent it 2 day fed-ex for free.

As a result, I am a B&W customer for life.  Well done B&W that is a lost and dying art.

I only purchased a turnover ball system from them, but it was unquestionably pleasant dealings. Even helped me find a shop near me to have it installed. Glad to see you had a good experience with them. Like yourself I find it a pleasant surprise to be able to deal with someone who is both knowledgable and able to be understood, their really are not many companies left it seems.

My truck had the B&W turn over ball in it when I bought it. I liked it so I went with a B&W companion. The Anderson hitch is probably just fine but the B&W looked stronger and far superior. I have a manual landing gear and don't want to have to crank it off the ball. Just get some pressure off and pull out. I got it used for $400. I love it.

I always ran B&W turn over gooseneck systems, never have had an issue. Glad to hear that if you do have an issue they make it right in a big way.
