My cousin worked in a tire shop for years. They offer it if you want it. He said it's a gimick to get you to spend more. It don't make any difference if you use it or not.

It's good stuff, but once it's in there, you can't "top off" with air, if you ever needed to.

I have a 122 cuft cylinder of nitrogen.  I run nitrogen in my fifth wheel and before I had on board air on the dually I carried it with a regulator and hose to run the impact and air jack on long trips with the camper.

If you are not going to invest in a cylinder to keep then its a waste of time since you can't top off.

For our race cars, back in the day,  we used nitrogen so that the pressure remained constant during the race.

From an ex tire jockey(me); sales gimmick. maintains constant pressure regardless of temperature, but that's the only plus side. For about 100 years we've somehow managed to maintain proper inflation on tires with the idea that they change as they heat and cool. pretty sure someone just said, "ya know I bet I could sell this".

If the tire shop offers it for free, I'll take it.  I sure as heck won't pay extra for it.

I'm a Discount Tire/America's Tire customer for life, but I do know that Costco uses nitrogen and doesn't charge for it.

I often put water in my tires, that count? Also Calcium chloride...in fact just the other day I put rv antifreeze into my Exmarks tires. I haven't yet figured out how to catch and store the nitrogen from my electrolysis system....so I am still a low tech fluid filled tire user LoL

Beet juice is replacing calcium chloride. Its made from sugar beets and is non corrosive. The tire repair company we use quit using calcium chloride all together.
