In the helo world over in the sandbox, we would place ten mags into a cloth bandolier and place several of them in various spots in the aircraft. The idea being if we were hit and went down, on your way out of the wreckage, you'd grab onto that bag-o-mags and make your way to a safe spot and await the calvary to arrive
