In Texas a CCW holder would have whacked him before he made it to the freeway. Wonder if the bat wielder was illegal?

Someone would have shot the man here in Kentucky

Several years ago the state legislature changed the law.

It used to be you could defend yourself with a gun if you were facing deadly force

Now the law allows us to shoot if you believe you or your property is in imminent danger

That has stopped a bunch of the schennaghans.

One of my neighbors shot and killed a boy here. Two kids broke into a house and the old man living there pumped a bunch of .22's into the lead element. Tried to shoot both of them. The survivor called 911. The police found one living and one expired perp. The man was never arrested, the survivor was jailed.
