If you "cheat" and just unbolt it (leave upper hose on), swap t-stats, and top off, you should be good. It's not an issue unless air gets trapped under the t-stats.
Hose off the mess before starting, especially the belt.
That's the safest way (but a little messy)

Those Denali's are stupid money to fix from my experience...all of the extra goodies, like rear slider, sunroof, etc...the yukon denali versions have crazy expensive shocks (not sure on the 1/2 ton trucks), and usually flex fuel. I also don't like the aluminum blocks personally.

3
Wait why you taking off the belt? I need to do mine as well, since it overheated a couple years back. ...I'll look at it to see how hard. I think these are easier than previous models....and I haven't done a LML yet.

...just looked Mikey. Don't take the belt off, just unbolt the shroud and the fuel test port and move it out of the way. Doesn't look too bad.

4
Take bolts out, remove t-stats, install new ones, put bolts back in, add coolant, rinse.

Jeez Mike, need someone to hold your hands?  :)

Thank you guys. It means a lot.

Tate, I don't do set up work, ie: pinion or side bearings. matter of fact, just sent one to Western Diff in Tucson. They have a good rep.
..and I thank God that I have the employee that I do. He's been handling the extra work like a champ.

Guys, I feel a little selfish for asking, but I'd appreciate a couple prayers sent this way.
I did something to my shoulder a few weeks ago, and nothing I've tried has made a difference. I've never went this long without working and it's starting to get me down. Finally got a MRI last week, just waiting for results. It would be great if our Lord would relieve some of the pain.

I'm far from being wealthy, but like those guys mentioned, you can aquire so much more by using cash, and if you run into a great deal on something you want/need, buy it even if you can't afford it. If you wait til it fits in the budget, you lose  money .
I also recommend to never except financial advice from myself... disclaimers and what not

My current company, we build 90% of the product in house, even the Ground Support Equipment is built in house and we test every component in house.  Getting Raw material became such a problem we just finished building our own Foundry and Forge.

Come on Phil, you know Toyota's built in the US!
...and most US cars don't have very many US parts in them anymore, especially electronics.   :(

Yet I still wouldn't trade my GM truck for anything. It's tough being patriotic, and having to work on the darn things at the same time.

Oh dang. That hurt. :(

NOW WHERE"S THOSE PICS !!!!

39
Phil, definitely agree on Euro "trash", especially rover junk. It's bad enough that they have plenty of issues, and difficult issues at that, but the parts can be multiple times more expensive compared to the US or Asian brands. I will say, it's extremely hard to discredit the quality of Euro fit and finish though.

I have seen enough Mopars in my shop to know that I would prefer something else. (don't get me started on Neons!) lol

As far as newer cars not lasting, well, it wasn't that long ago that I was replacing engines with less than 50k on them....smoky, smelly, noisy, gas guzzling engines. (anyone remember the olds 350 diesels? eww)
We had a bad spell in the 70s and 80s but I put more blame on the government than the manufacters for that. The '90-2010ish cars are greatly more reliable up to the 100k mark, than pre-90s imo. After 100k, the electronics can begin to fail, but, the mechanicals have tighter tolerances and better alloys, and they can rack up a boat load of miles.
Now, on the newest cars we are seeing issues we didn't see a few years ago, mainly variable timing and direct injection. If you guys get time, google pics of intake valves on a direct injected engine. I'm seeing issues with those 2 systems on engines with less than 50k on them....not good. I think we're starting to go backwards on reliability all in the name of better mileage (again government).

I like Hondas, but Toyota is #1 in my book (as far as light duty) We have a few at home.

JR I'm going to look at those Sencos. The Feslodes are supposed to be almost as fast as air, and probably more than fast enough for a novice, but pricey.
Looks real good.

On a chebbie, to adjust it out they have to use the tie rods....in other words, you'll lose a half turn in one direction, and rub tires the other direction.
..and you knew about the clockspring!?!
Guess that's enough to let me off the hook!
