New Leer topper installed today. Way better fit and finish than the A.R.E. POS that I got the first go ?round.

Well, as usual, nothing can really go right for me on purchases like this.

About 2 months ago I got my A.R.E. Canopy installed. Immediately I was pissed. It was poorly made, with flaws and poor moldings where it sits on the bed. And, the color was off. They said they?d order a replacement, and let me use the flawed one till it arrived.

So a month goes by and I call back. ?Oh, yeah, we forgot to email you. They?re not going to warranty that?. So I said fine, I?ll be down in the morning and you can take this POS off and give me my money back in full.

So once I had that taken care of, I drove up to the Leer dealer and ordered a topper. It will be installed next Wednesday. I have a loaner on there until then.

Now for the good news. The DECKED system is awesome, I love it. Really easy to install, and the fit and finish is top notch. Highly recommend to anybody looking for storage options with a canopy.

Kyle what do you use it for?

Sharpening pencils, opening boxes, cleaning out notches, cutting off splinters, etc etc. it?s sharp as hell, but also has the strength of a chisel

When I read your post, I looked up that knife thing and immediately went and ordered it.
I bought a new framing belt and just placed it in there. Question: Seems light to me, can you pound on the handle end to use like a chisel? Strong enough? Remember who it is you're talking with...Carrep...
I have yeah, its so sharp you won?t need to pound hard. You won?t want to pound and pry like you would a heavy chisel, but it?s a pretty well made little tool. You?ll see, it?s extremely sharp

Yeah, the way I keep my credit rating up is use 2 credit cards to buy everything and pay them off each month and never pay interest.

One of the cards puts 2% of what I spend into my kids 529 fund so I put everything I can on it.  I tried to put my dually on it but the dealer didnt want to honor the deal I cut if I was going to use the credit card.

Charlie Mike, Sir.....

We do the same thing. EVERYTHING goes on a credit card that can, and gets paid off monthly. We use the Alaska Airlines card, and as a result rarely pay for a flight (use points). And credit cards have better fraud protection than debit too.

That's nuts.

Plus I work alone.....kind of hard to do that.

Any recommendations on tool belts?  Mine broke after 15 years.

Most of the carpenters around here that I can speak the same language as run Occidental bags. They look very very nice. Spendy, but will last ya forever.

I don't use a belt enough to justify spending that kind of money, so i use a CLC padded back support belt and shoulder straps, and replaced the CLC flimsy nylon bags with the more rigid Husky bags. It works for me.

This bag on the right: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-2-Pocket-Small-Framer-Pouch-with-Leather-GP-46667N14/205593560
I hate having my hammer in my middle back, i like how this one is on the side, but out away from your waist so it doesn't smack into your knees. There's others just like this one, but bigger too.

And a smaller bag for my left side (can't find it on HD website, but it's basically the same line, just pouches for nail strips, screws, torpedo level, chalk line, etc etc

The DECKED system itself weighs about 200 lbs. Its heavy duty plastic with steel structure. Each drawer can hold 200 lbs. the deck can support 1 ton.

And once assembled, one guy can probably remove and reinstall. It comes out in 2 halves after the drawers are removed. It?s designed to anchor to the factory tie downs in each corner with turnbuckles

Don I'm a big fan of Sherwin Williams Duration paint laid on with a sprayer.  Get a HVLP and just pop the top off the little opening in the 5 gal pail and drop the suction hose in.  Paint away!  That stuff is really tough.
That?s what our house and shop are covered with. I concur with Tex

Not much changed on the truck in forever, but with the baby now and a very large puppy... we decided to get a canopy on the truck. I ordered an A.R.E., and it should be here in a couple weeks. And because I had to ditch the tool box, i went ahead and ordered a DECKED storage system. Really excited for that, it's a really cool design. Was thinking of making something out of plywood and skateboard wheels, but wanted to keep weight down so just went ahead and bought the DECKED system. Will be a few weeks before it's all installed, but i'll post pics

Here's a photo of what the DECKED looks like

Purdy. Now set something hot on it to break it in.

Watched a guy build a steel workbench once. Soon as he was done he hit it with a ballpeen hammer, broke it in!!
Will probably be something wet rather than hot, or maybe something greasy... need to spend some time on my chainsaws.

Dawg do you have a biscuit joiner?  I don?t do as much woodwork as you but my biscuit joiner is indispensable for stuff like that.
I do not. It's on my list of wants... with about 1000 other things! The festool domino is slick, but damn expensive

When do we get to start sending you designs for stuff we want?
As soon as i get done building all the stuff that I want!!  :beercheers:

Fancy schmancy!
How's life with the wee babe?
Danke.

Baby is doing great. Her sleep patterns are all over the place, but she's a happy baby. Only really fusses when she's hungry, has to burp, or needs a new diaper.

I applied stain tonight. Clear coat will be Saturday

Note, the workbench island is only partially complete. There will be lots of shelves and cubbies under the work surface, just putting that part off for awhile. But I wanted to get the work surfaces done and finish applied so I?d stop being so paranoid about setting my beer down and getting a water ring on the wood lol

Countersunk all the screws and plugged the holes with oak dowel. (No pics of that yet) Will stain and seal later today

Weird to me how ISIS was claiming the attacks so hard right off the bat, saying this guy was a recent convert. Girlfriend in Philippines? What'd the note say?

If not that, possible motive of retribution for girlfriend getting deported, and target likely trump supporters. Thought I saw somewhere that he was registered democrat in Florida at one point.

Definitely weird. The public needs to see that note left behind.

And I read that apparently he was on Valium

Thanks guys. Praying for everything to go smoothly.

Doesn't help that i took a big tumble the other day and mangled a rib pretty bad in my mid back... but i will certainly be able to rally when the baby decides to join us.

Our family friends who are the breeders have also offered to take Mack for a big of a dog vacation while we are at the hospital and bringing the baby home, so he'll be there a week or so.

early on when I was supporting Cruz I realized that there was only one thing I absolutely had to have out of this election.  That was conservative justices on the supreme court.  Everything else would be gravy.

He's delivered so far with Gorsuch.  If we can get one more on the court, then I'll consider Trump a success.

That's my train of thought too... I just think there's potential for a lot more with house and senate majority, especially if he's such a good negotiator
