Drones, Boats, Flying and Floating Things / Car port for the boat
« on: September 04, 2019, 11:28:28 PM »
Needed to get some weather protection storage for the boat. Not a lot of room left but made it work. Prep for the carport was by hand as too small a job to rent a machine. Instead of building another one, I bought one including delivery and installation. A bit higher than needed but should work fine. Not much room to get into the garage and a bit tight backing into from the road.

Tex, if you or anyone else has a need, I have a few 7RUM cases once fired or so to a good home. My son just had to have one but after I got a load worked up he went back to the 243.

Spent the last few days prepping an area for a boat cover. No back hoe or mini to use so it was a grape hoe, shovel, and wheelbarrow show. Running out of room, hope I can get my Elcamino out of the garage once the cover is in place. Might need a set of tire dollies so I can use the other door.

Cooking equipment / Re: Gas grills
« on: August 16, 2019, 12:35:53 PM »

Nate, really don't know which one I have. It says Genesis ll E-310, It has 3 burners no searing station, no shelf side burner. Burners on each side and one in the center, they run front to back. Has heat deflectors between burners also so a total of 5 deflectors. Looking at the front, the left side shelf folds down. Two cast iron grates, for about 18X26 cooking area with inside top fold down narrow shelf. Open style cart, propane bottle hangs on one side. Not big, but plenty of room for my needs.

Nate, I also have a Weber Genesis ii 3 burner. It does ok, but a pellet grill it is not. A bit hard to control temps and it likes to cook hotter than I like. At the price point, I think it has held up better than a lot of the stuff around.  Most of the time, and if time allows the electric smoker is my choice and then finish off on the grill for a few minutes for effect.

Since you are talking the big boys, go big or stay home. Bear spray could only make them madder as would a not big/quick enough round. I really think the 454 would do the trick but why only 4 inch barrel? Take a first best shot and hope it works as you run out of time quickly. You can open carry in the parks right?  Nice to have a reason to add to the safe too.

I am thinking it runs a lot deeper than the thinking going on right now by the Left side. Why is it that our laws are much too strict and we should be letting loose  many inmates to return to normal life? Why is it so important to think LGBT or whatever are normal and should be congratulated for their thinking. Why do we have to think or treat everyone as though they just made a simple small mistake and should be welcomed with open arms and helped as much as possible. Why do we have to think that just because the person robbed or broke into our home that some how it is our fault they acted that way and should not be punished for their actions. Why is there so many attorney represented people winning suites against the victims of so many crimes or providing freedom to the ones that caused the problem to start with. What is the real reason people think it is ok to open fire on people and the only way to stop it is to control the rest of us from enjoying the freedom we have had forever? Wake up and start punishing the few that want to rule the rest of us. Yes, let them hang or face the firing squad. Screw up and you will face the facts, not somehow be the victim of the crimes you committed .

JR, why would you need 4x4 at freeway speeds? Slippery area at 75+ puts you in the pucker brush even with 4x4. And if need be, doesn't help stopping any better either. We could always tell when the storms were all but over, the out of control traffic ended up further off the roads.

Jr, get the well in place and install the pump and other stuff later.  Still thinking having someone walk it it for you is time well spent. Worse case is you just drill where you want. Best case you catch an artisan with endless supply.

Brings back many memories about summer work. Spent many summers hauling hay from the fields to the barns. Worked for 4 or 5 farmers and they usually got two cuttings each year. Usually three or four of us working together. Good thing was the bales only weighed around 75 lbs or so. When you screwed up and lost a trailer load it was still a lot of quick work getting it all loaded back up and headed for the barn again. No child labor laws and 2 buck an hour was good money.

The gate thing is true right up to the grass catcher. I had to redo the gate from 36 inches to 48 inches. Of course as I was digging the new gate post hole the main line for the sprinkler system got into the way. Got that fixed then had to replace the 4x4's used for edging and also put one under the new gate to keep the puppy in the yard. The formed corners of the gate were not quite right after I screwed the thing together but will have to do for now.

Got the new mower fired up and cut some grass. It is only a 34 inch deck but goes through a normal sized gate.

Too many times, for sure Nate.

So I’m trying to get things wrapped up at the weekend place before we head out to Memphis to visit the in laws tomorrow.

Got up early to mow and trim. Got almost done and was mowing around the pond and ....you guessed it. Put the new zero turn in the water. Not just in the water but it was steep and the mower slid all the way to the bottom in the middle of the pond. As I swam away from it I was watching the bubbles move further out and settle right near the middle of the pond. At least I hit the switch and killed it before it went under.

Charles, we bought a small zero turn mower yesterday. When reading the owners manual, in BIG print is warns about mowing too close to ponds and ditches. You are famous in the zero turn world it sounds like.

JR, if you can rent with operator, he will be finished by the time you relearn how to use a rental effectively. That  my case anyway when I needed some dirt work done.

Reese Hd trunnion set up. My original set up is a dual cam straight line. Has the cams the bars ride on for sway control if things get out of hand. Is a great system but takes some time to get set up for proper performance.

781
Every since I bought this new truck I have had trouble with my wd set up. Ordered new 2 1/2 “ shank and new hd head set up. Use 1500 lb spring bars as the tongue weight of the pull trailer rv is about 1300 lbs plus the stuff behind the rear axle of the pick up.
Set it up to bring the weight on the front axle of the truck back to the weight before the trailer was hooked up. Drops the rear of the truck about 1.5 inches and tows great. The 2.5 inch shank has a much higher weight rating than the 2 inch which is good when towing the dump trailer. I don’t like the adapter that came with the truck so most all the hitch ball mounts I have are 2.5 inch.

JR, I am not understanding what you need for the trailer hitch setup. Is it the snap up brackets for the chains on the bars, the dual cams for the Reese hitch system, or just what is it you need? I have a few parts for hitches in the garage from over the years.

Ya, moving the container a bit further onto the property. Damn drones anyway, they don't even need to walk the sites anymore.
Kitsap used to require a permit for anything over 30 yards. Now with the drones and other stuff they can actually control that. We used to dump ditch spoils wherever we had a request from a property owner, then we had to issue a permit first then it got to the point the ditch spoils were considered hazard waste so we spent lots of monies so that Waste Management could use the dirt for cover. And they were a contractor for Kitsap County Solid Waste.  Haul it to the dump and then spread it for them, what a waste. Sweeper material from winter sand cleanup same thing. Pick it up within a week or it was considered hazard material. I dumped on the wrecking yards inside roads and all was good for a time. Set up a screen and reused the sand on the roads for snow and ice.

I put new exhaust on my last gas pickup a 2007 GM 6.0, Man it was noisy in the cab after that. It got traded in for a diesel rig and I have never looked back. With the exhaust burning clean  and no diesel smell in the cab I am really sold on these rigs. Yes the 2011 spent some time in the shop because of the DEF system problems but when it is working it is great.  I don't really understand spending money and time trying to improve the HP on these rigs as they have way more power than what I need pulling what I pull.
