Parking lot or boat ramp hit. Didn't notice it for a week.

JR, the school thing, Unless your kids are in the upper years of high school they will make many new friends and most likely the new friends will be from families more aligned with yours. It also is not so far away, the existing friends could stay in touch. Have you ask them about their feelings.
If you are drawing retirement pay from a Calif. establishment, do you have to file state income tax on  income from calif even if you don't live there any longer?

That sold new price was it for basic unit or did it include all the stuff this one has? Wouldn't hurt to at least dip the toes in the water and see where it leads. They will know you are interested and think on it too. They need to get their money back to work too, not sitting on the used lot. Might let it slip out that there are two dealers close to where your place is. Heck my brand new 1968 El Camino sold for 3,300 out the door and look where they are selling at today.

Don, I know you would never abuse that trailer hitch "but" why not put a good hitch on it just in case you accidently tried. Those round factory receivers are just junk and you already have it removed.

JR, glad you got out of the Gator deal unharmed. Something else will come around given enough time. I don't know what your immediate need is for equipment but you might be ahead to rent or lease some iron instead of buying the wrong long term equipment right away. That 580 Case style rig is big and not really a good choice except for digging in flat ground. The people I know up here most of the time have their big rubber tire back hoes parked and are using either a  track hoe or tractor with 3 point  attachments.

Your bet on pulling trailers around, You really don't know for sure what this bunch of people did in their past lives. Unless you pulled commercially for a number of years you just might loose that bet. Pulling a large box trailer from point A to B is a lot different than moving equipment around on a flat deck.

Polaris is a very nice side by side rig. You can get lots of tools for the rear of a tractor/ with back hoe attachment. A small rubber track excavator is a nice tool also.

I guess it all depends on the need at hand Tex. Skid steers defiantly can be used for lots of things, with the right attachments. A front loader with back hoe is also a good tool, and a small track hoe with thumb fills lots of tasks. I would be hard pressed to tell JR which one he needs most.

Absolutely nothing wrong with  Chinese iron with limited end use.  Burying containers, reinforce in a few places and don't over do the hole they go into. Great purchase JR, take your time and plan it out.

If it were me, and there isn't a water problem or movement in the basement wall, I would just remove the existing retaining wall. Provide drainage for the curtain drain around the house footings, the existing down spouts, and footing for the new wall. Type of new retaining wall system will depend on space and how much area you want to give up.

Uh yes & we need pics of the striped bass don’t forget!

Didn't forget Shawn, not even a bite so far. I am getting stuff together for the privacy curtain  around the porta potty. Tried to get a place to make a rail, but gave up on him calling so will be using 3/4 copper pipe and fittings and doing it myself. Looking on line at claw foot tub D shaped rods, I think mounting each end and a center brass will do it.

I agree with what you are saying Shawn. I was just saying if Don is fixing the Burb up for long term use, I think recovering the seats or using what is there would work better than a seat cover that moves around all the time.

I use the material that comes with the seat. When it wears out or gets stained to the point it really looks bad I will replace them. I hate fighting with seat covers trying to keep them in place. Why cover something up so they will look nice for the next owner. Use what you bought or replace them, not just add something over the top of what you have and fight with it all the time.

Why not get a small trailer and mount it to that? Pull that and be able to not have to break camp and still use the suburban? Modify that one single axle military trailer you have with a real off road independent suspension (it’s simple, shoot me a message if you need info) and have the best of everything. You could even easily make that trailer have a top and be lockable.

Sure, mount up a fiberglass topper, cut the top, add a boat trailer winch or two and....

Lots of years driving snow plows. Used to set the wing windows to force outside air across the windshield but those can't be had anymore. Now I just find a place to get off the road till the roads are clear. Good luck on finding an area to set up for your needs and getting out of California.

JR, try to keep the heat off the windshield when driving in snow and cold temps. Run a little bit of heat on the floor to keep from being too cold but keep the windshield cool as possible. This will help keep the wipers and window from freezing the melted snow and causing a big mess. If you start fogging up, open a window or just throw cold air at it from the blower motor. :beercheers:

Strike 2 or 3 maybe, 2nd junk yard across street had a 500 but motor was locked up tight...

Doesn't mean the engine can't be rebuilt. If it has been in the yard a long time exposed to the elements it could be locked up just because. And it is only across the street, make a deal with the guy it could turn into a good place for parts.

Took the boat out on Lake Mohave and really enjoyed the day. The engine pod was dry when I took out the drain plug after the day on the water. The sealing of the inspection plate must have taken care of that problem.
After looking more for the water in the bilge problem, I found a thru hull fitting, just above water line, that  didn't have anything attached to it. Contacted the boat dealer, found out how to get into the area,  found the drain hose from a storage bin in the bow area wasn't attached to the thru hull fitting. The hose was just laying next to the fitting. Need to pick up a stainless hose clamp, and attach the hose. Hopefully this will take care of the problems I am having with water intrusion. Everything else is working great, very happy and ready to start doing some fishing for the striper bass.

I do think it would be a mistake to underestimate them. People with a fanatical ideology are unpredictable and unstable and prone to violence. Walk softly but be prepared to respond with overwhelming force.

Send in the Feds. They can pick a person they know can't pay for an attorney, get a judge to sign off on a questionable  warrant. When that person refuses to spy on the group in question let the feds respond with overwhelming force. That is the American way after all.

The sewer hose won't like the metal tube and protest with holes which will leak out the black water. I have gone to the Rhino hose that retracts and fits inside a fabric zippered container. Yes a bit more expensive than the ones that are what they are but sure is nice not having leaks after a few months of riding and rubbing inside a metal tube.

I agree but... If everyone drove to the end of the lane and took turns merging things would be a lot smoother than all the movements that take place for the 1/4 mile before the lane ends slowing the left lane to a crawl and causing tempers to flare. I think concrete barriers, not just barrels or cones, between the two lanes from some point all the way down to the merge area would be a good traffic flow improvement,  keep both lanes moving at about the same pace, and just maybe keep the jerks in both lanes under control. Now the person that pays no attention to traffic at the on ramp and causes stop and go conditions should have to go to driver training.
