Trying to figure out the appropriate measurements and angles and such for a new set of stairs I’m putting in for the loft at the new house. Unfortunately I don’t have enough space for a straight staircase, so I either need a landing or a winder st the bottom. I’m leaning toward doing a winder, I think it will fit in perfectly. Something like in the picture, except in real measurements instead of metric, would work with metric that’s just weird.

I'd do a landing instead of a winder. Those angled steps make it easy to hurt yourself if you're aren't paying attention.

I'm down in Vancouver, Nate. No white stuff here (yet).
Yeah, sucks for them, but they went from a Explorer to a Yukon Denali and paid cash, so no more car payment and a nicer car (but I may be a little biased toward GM ;) )

My neighbors just had their car repo'd because Progressive didn't put the right kind of full-coverage on the car. I'm a little fuzzy on the details, but something happened and even though they made all their regular monthly payments, some additional lien was placed on the car (additional insurance from the bank??) and I guess that wasn't getting paid, so they came and took it. No communication to our neighbor what-so-ever (that's likely the bank's fault though, not Flo)
They're fighting the ding to their credit, but said screw it on the car -- court case could go on for months. They have 3 kids under 10, so momma needs her mommy-mobile.
Asked her if she would be going with Progressive again -- NOPE!

Don, for the record and don't ask how I know. However, that nice sloping ground beneath you actually helps. You see when you finally do hit the dirt you will tend to roll and that helps negate some of the initial impact. I do admit that depending on where you finally end up you may acquire a few more scrapes and bruises in transition but I believe those are desirable compared to broken bones...........
Just don't extend your arms in an attempt to "catch" yourself as you're approaching the ground. Ask how I know. Things go POP!

The passenger side battery in our Duramaxes is also prone to premature failure due to the proximity to the passenger side exhaust manifold. It then takes its toll on the driver side by trying to recharge itself from the good battery.

5-6 years on the Delcos is good Don. I've heard Interstate's aren't as good as they used to be. Or maybe that was Optima. I recommend Exide AGM. Made in USA.

Hmm... that's kind of an odd place for that, Don. Most people put it to the left or right of the steering column under the instrument panel.

It has a quality 0-3000 psi gage, glycerin filled, mind you. He attached the proper ends to six feet of 5800 psi hose and clamped it all together.
Time to break something else!

You'd think they'd have some kind of safety mechanism to prevent driving away with the bed up. Limit to 5mph or something so they can still spread the load out.

I cut bracing for mine today out of the removed peak joist. Found out I need to shear the hallway wall below the floor.
When this is done I can park my truck on it.

3 Way gate works like pickup tailgate, or a dump truck tailgate for well tail gating or it opens like a double driveway gate too. Great feature btw...
Pivot at top, pivot at bottom, or pivot at sides for those that can't picture it ;) Kind of like those fugly Honda Ridgelines, but about 100x more useful.

Also gotta figure out why the passenger seat has some slop in the seatback. It vibrates fore/aft over rough roads.

Took down the last maple tree and pulled out the stump yesterday. Still have a lot of roots left under the lawn though. Might be renting a mini-excavator to take out the two stumps in the back yard and can pull those roots then. Lawns will likely get re-done anyway. Think i want to get a bobcat and landscape rake (rock hound i've seen them called) to take it down a few inches and get out the large rocks then replant the grass. 20170910 by Ryan Parlee, on Flickr I had cut some major roots and tried pulling from down low on the stump already at this point. Hooked up to the top of the trunk to utilize the leverage.... came loose real easily. 20170910_155018 by Ryan Parlee, on Flickr Had to give it a good tug 14262 by Ryan Parlee, on Flickr Aftermath 20170910_155743 by Ryan Parlee, on Flickr 20170910_155738 by Ryan Parlee, on Flickr

Been busy this past week, we have been sleeping in the new house and moving belongings from the old house. It's slow going, but good, as I bring a load in my wife has time to locate and relocate items before the next load arrives and the process repeats. Ran into a few issues, a toilet had apparently been leaking for a while so i had to tear out the drywall and clean up some mold that had managed to develop. Cleaned it up and now I'm waiting for every trace of moisture to be gone before I replace the insulation and redo the drywall. Other than that, it's been nice waking up to the sound of nothing but nature(and ten kids). Seen a bunch of turkey and deer and I'll be hunting me some raccoons soon. I'll attach a few pictures of the place to prove it is real. The first two are a couple of my mild remediation work, then one of my blazer and the minivan in the garage and another view of the garage and finally one of the boys bunks in their room. I'll put some more up of the house later.
Glad to hear everyone is safe from the storms that have been ravaging the Texas and Louisiana area.

What are the dimension of the tiles in the bathroom? If they're 9"x9" they're likely asbestos so watch out.

Hybrid escalade with 6.2L... kind of ironic. I believe all Escalades have the 6.2 though, which motor do u think it should have? I think the yukon hybrid of years past had the 5.3L.

We will head further from civilization, south west MT is in the current running as are parts of the Tuck if I can stand the thought of humidity again???? Idaho might make the list as well just haven't made it up over there yet for a visit.
After this summers trip my oldest has been eyeing college in MT hard. Apparently there were around ten seniors from this years class at her school that went up there for less expensive tuition & the fact they allow us Coloradans to pay in state tuition is an added bonus.
Shawn, i have to fight my wife on moving somewhere with snow. If it were up to me itd be MT or ID.
After this last week in CA she may decide to divorce me and live on the coast......
Wife and I have been toying with the idea of moving to MT as well...

Oh man don't get me started... Wife found a mouse in a flower bed last week -- Named it Hermione. Last night I caught a little garter snake -- wife named it..... wait for it.... Severus Snape. LOL Along the lines of what Nate suggested, here's another... I always like tough names "Ranger" is one I am currently using "Scout" for my GSD If the dog is always sniffing about, then "Recon" fits
If he pees and "shoots" all over the place, then "Shooter" would work
If he lies in wait for the cat then he should be called "Ambush"
If he barks or howls a lot, then "Bugle"
If he doesn't seem to pay attention or listen, then call him "Sarge"
If he is a house dog and doesn't want to go outside, then "Square D"
If's he's a runner, then "Attack" This could be used for fun n' games when he is running toward someone and you call for him! ;-)
If the dog has received loads of training, but still can't do anything right, then definitely call him "L-T"

We had the heater door gear go bad on our 2011 Enclave. They went through the glove box to change out. Could hear the gears trying to work but couldn't figure out anything as the temps were in the 70's in AZ. and we didn't need heat. Once we got to Nevada on the way home and it was in the 30's I knew right away what the problem was.
Yeah the motors are easy to get to - had to replace the 'mode' one last year as we could only get defrost. I've recharged the A/C 2 or 3 times this year (who is the idiot that designed this... put the low pressure fill right next to the exhaust header and oil filter), and frequently hear a hissing coming from the dash. Bought a halogen gas leak detector -- went off like crazy once i put the probe down inside the vent.

Well, on the bright side, now you don't have to worry about replacing those HVAC buttons where the rubber stuff has peeled off... ;)
Serious though -- glad to hear she's OK. We have the GMC equivalent (Acadia) - 2011, too. Funny that you have an '06 dmax and a '11 lambda (Traverse, Acadia, Outlook, Enclave), too. You ever have any A/C issues with it? Pretty sure our evap coil is shot and its a 8-10 hour job to pull the entire dash out to replace.
I hope you're joking about being cited for parking on the fence... not like she had a choice! :)

Portland passed a law a few years back that stores could no longer use plastic bags. Even Home Depot has paper bags -- actually works better for things like tubes of caulk or sharp stuff that always poke through the plastic...

Whats wrong a with a standard 3 point? So much dedicated stuff on something that should be simple.
Decided we are going up to see the eclipse next week. About a 1000 mile round trip and the kids miss a day of school.
But we figure its a once in a lifetime here in the states, so its a go. I have seen partials and the kids keep talking about it, so what the heck.
Going up early sunday (no wife unit) in my moms camry. Maybe find a motel a hour or so away and do the final trip miles in the AM. All online motels close are booked so a little more searching is in order on that side. Otherwise we sleep out, see the bugger and drive home.
Good luck with the traffic and finding a reasonably priced hotel this late.
