Very Sad,  I gringe every time I see that.  Just hope no "riders" were in the B17

looks like the P63 didn't even see the B17, just sad!
This was my first thought.

When they had the air show in august of 2020 down here, the bigger planes had riders.

Terrible events for sure.

So what’s the status on the Cummins? Head getting shipped out for an overhaul and some upgrades?
All things point to the front seal on the IP having gave up on life. Dropped it off at the only fuel injection shop in Hawaii, thankfully they are Bosch certified. Hopefully they are able to put a new seal in tomorrow and then I’ll put the pump back in and see if the crank case fills up. If it does, then off comes the lift pump and injectors.

Sam at the injection shop (owner and older guy) said if it’s not missing or running rough the injectors are fine. Which it did run fine, just filled the oil pan with diesel. When I drained it before pulling the pump to start diagnosing, got between 20-25qts. Filled a 16qt pan and then was quickly working on filling a second 16qt pan. And a plethora made it onto my cardboard driveway protectors

So we’ll see!

53

Lol, use what you’ve got!

Another fallen soldier I see, stepped towards the dark side to be lost for a few weeks at least

Got in an argument with my teen the other night.  Him telling me about all the “ aftermarket “ things you can do to a Tesla.  I asked him which one added HP or torque or mileage to the battery? He opens tesla website and starts showing me the model plaid and such.  I laughed because I have failed to teach him the meaning of “aftermarket” I guess.

His sperm supplier dads brother has a tesla and that’s all we have heard about is the fk tesla this and that. I asked him if it tows their motorcycle? Their boat? How it does to move the push mower to the small engine repair… he said they sold the bike and boat, and now pays to have the lawn mowed.   I’m sure the topic will come up again

I think this is a common occurrence for Tesla owners, get rid of things to accommodate the vehicle. Where as, we bought it because Wyoming is a huge coal producer and I like to support the power company

Oh and it is actually a smart decision for us considering the cost to fuel the thing and insurance being basically the same price as the TacoMa.

We also had the hitch installed on ours so for the off chance the dodge is down (like right now, ffs) we can tow a little trailer to haul things. Or more importantly carry a bike rack to other places to ride bikes than just around the house. Ford Island has a four mile loop that is enjoyable.

I don’t care who tells you what, at current these things are not capable of long distance towing, to and from town for a load of dirt or something, sure. Tow capacity is 3500lbs on the model Y. Surprisingly it is a 2” receiver in there as well!

As far as aftermarket power, zip, zero, zilch, nada! Ultimately they don’t need it, other than to fill a modifiers need to modify.

55
Congrats Turner!

I went for a ride in my buddy’s X Plaid and I think I got brain damage from the acceleration.

Mind boggling. Literally.

Thanks Charles.

Plaid is a whole different level! Ours being the performance is PLENTY! Looking forward to about three years from now when we can trade it for a tri motor cyber truck.

Had to go to Spokane and pickup eldest daughter from airport for a weekend visit. Forgot the hour time difference and ended there an hour early so I stopped by Nicks Boots where I’ve had an order with for several months. Looks to be another dozen weeks yet however I did get to actually try a set on.

I originally was fitted (measured) at a shoe store in Ft Collins, co but did not get to try them on. All I can say is I’m stoked about these after having a set on for ten minutes.

For what I paid though I’ll need to be buried in them. In all reality I destroy a set of boots on average every six months or so. Those mass produced boots of low quality run maybe $200. So my thinking is if these Nicks boots last a year and a half which is easily doable then I’ll break even roughly and my feet should be happier. If I get 2 years from them then I saved money and if I have issues I can send them in for repairs. My thought is if these hold up like I think they will I’ll order another backup set in six months.

I drove thru Ken’s area twice today, didn’t see him or H so they must still be lost in the woods….
Wow, I never thought I knew another 6month boot breaker! Not me mind you, but my second oldest brother who follows dogs for a living. He has worn every brand of boot until the soles fall off. He does a lot of riding now but I don’t think he manages much past 7/8mos. He wears asolo and kennetrek. His fail simply because boots are not designed for the miles he puts on. No idea how asolo would stand up to shop life. Couldn’t test it if I wanted to.

I look forward to seeing how these Nicks work out for you.

That may be part of my issue too, I average 15k steps a day when in the shop
Yea that’s roughly 9-10 miles a day. If you work 260 days a year that’s 2340-2600 miles. Shoes just aren’t made for that! Really looking forward to seeing how these work out for you.

So we took delivery of our Model Y Performance today. The actual pickup of the Y was less than stellar. We sat around for over an hour before Lil Blue showed up at the service center for us to pick up. All in all, we were at the service center for just under two hours.

Another downside, prices on items in the physical store are different than what they are on the website, annoying.

Tesla is weird in that they make updates as vehicles come off the line. I have seen some 2022s with out the radar sensors that our 2023 has. Like wise, 2022s from September that came with the rear cargo cover, and ours did not. Unsure about a few other recent changes like new cameras and what have you.

Overall, we are still very satisfied with our coal burning purchase!

Made me up a 6awg extension cord to get power to the charger.

We are taking it in for tint tomorrow. And still need to find a shop for ceramic coating.

So we officially have a coal burner and a coal roller

Got through the spinal surgery OK...Hurting like two people

He removed a segment of Disc which was sticking into the spinal cord channel and said he cut away some bone spurs

On Oxy at the moment, and it hurts BAD! I can't imagine what this would feel like without that strong pain med. Mouth is dry. like, really dry. Can't pee yet...That could be a problem, but God has it

The prognosis for recovery is excellent...Just have to suck it up for a week or so
Drink more water, and change your socks, you know the drill.

Glad to see it went well.

« on: October 22, 2022, 09:26:49 PM »
Just a couple thoughts,

I like your Idea but do you really want to give up all the creature comforts that your current rig has?  You will loose a lot of convivence items that make a more modern truck nice and make the truck nicer to have/use.  That Cummins will not give you what you think it will.  The time you invest you will never get back, if its a project to kill time and you enjoy it 100%understand.

You will always be chasing gremlins with a setup that only YOU will be able to work on, the days of taking it to someone to get it fixed will be gone.

Maybe buy a rig close to what you want where most of the heavy work is finished?

All the people that say just write the check!  Don is 100% spot on with his logic, an example if I had hired someone to get my T28 airworthy just the labor hour cost alone most likely would be more than what I paid for the plane and thats not adding in parts cost, same goes for my Cummins powered RC.

What always happens is something big will break and you will find out it wasn't built correctly and the number one thought will be "I should of built this myself" almost 100% of the time this is what happens.

I say that but I will reassemble my Cummins RC and that will be the last time I do a project like that(I think)  Factory trucks are very capable now but I would have a hard time beating up a 80K+ truck on trails and driving thru the brush, I have come to enjoy the comfort/capability of the modern trucks and have a warranty at least for the first 5yrs.

I'm getting older myself and I want to enjoy the things I can physically still do before I get to the point I cant do them any more, my idea of a good time is not spending all day at a pick-a-part.

the 1st gen setup is the most basic way to go and the quietest, please resist the urge to p-pump this truck those engines are SUPER loud and is not a fun time to listen too for hours and hours.

The other side of the $5K suburban question: What other vehicle can I find these days that are just as capable that could get 20-25MPG? And run off waste motor oil as well? That group just got pretty small. I drove a diesel Land Cruiser in Kirkuk, but I'm sure some bad people wearing all black took that and drove it right to the point where some USAF F-16 smoked it and turned the vehicle into a shallow pond.

Dont want to rain on your parade or be a nay sayer BUT you will never and I mean never see that kind of mileage, when my RC was operational the absolute best i EVER saw was 15MPG.  Now I know all the internet experts all get 25mpg pulling a 40ft 16K trailer up a 20% grade and don't even feel the trailer back there.

But the reality is nothing close to that!   When I got 15mpg that was @ 55mph and a 100mph tail wind and down hill(30% grade) once you get the weight up and with your rig being up in the air it will take its toll on the MPG

I know what people say but those gal/miles don't lie, its called math and works 100% of the time.

you can always look for truck someone built OR a newer used Power wagon and convert that to diesel then you will have everything your looking for EXCEPT MPG.

Drive that 5K Suburban because IMO you can buy LOTS of fuel for 30K+ even at todays prices.
I can confirm this. We typically get ~14 in the dodge. Had one tank where we got 17, most of those miles were at about 45-55 driving all over the island.

Buy a new pump from dieseltuff, keep the old one for a rainy day core. He doesn’t require a core for the new pump and has three options for fuel throughput. Our pig is running his Stage 1, and his 90over injectors, HVLP lift pump, and a turbo he has that is designed for towing.

Do what Shawn said for front axle, wish I had done that, considered it when ours was in pieces. Our truck rides like a Conestoga wagon, beats ya to pieces. But we just deal, wife doesn’t care either. When we change springs we will do the longer leaves up front and back as well. Custom ones from Deaver or alcan.

You also have to buy 6 now.
7 if he rotates

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I honestly has a buddy try and use the tire rotation as a negative to owning the dually based off the cost to rotate tires.

My logical response to him “ if I’m to be concerned about the cost of tire mount and dismount on my truck to rotate tires @$30 a tire, I don’t think I should be buying a $85k truck”
He stopped trying to talk me out of buying it.

I don’t typically do much tire rotation.  I have always had good luck with keeping the tires inflated and running even.  We will see with this one.

I’d be more bummed at how time consuming it is to sit at the tire store while they rotate them all around

This thing for the 205, it’s what we’re running in our 74.

https://precisionfabricationplus.com/shop/ols/products/squaremax-gm-np205-twin-stick-cable-shifter-kit

The guy that runs that shop, top notch individual as well!

Also, I don’t know why but I spaced the duramax on IFS entirely.
That just helped a lot

If you read what he is doing with this, you will note that by rotating the 205 case, I will need to create a "high-hump" transmission and driveshaft tunnel in the Suburban
That's an easy decision
This is off the table, as I am not willing to carve up that truck with some big hump in the middle of the cab
Good info as it just eliminated the Getrag/NP205 option.
Yea makes sense. That link was for late 80s body chevys. But yea still gonna be similar. Obviously my use was much much different considering our floor is not factory at all.

Go ahead and put a bag on the getrag, I’ll stop by and get it next summer

Lizard skin for under hood, fenders, fire wall. Wish I did that when I had the cab on a rack and the frame outside.

Dieseltuff.com for parts if you get there, Mark is an upstanding and smart Canadian selling all things Cummins, to include brand new pumps I believe made in Poland, we are running one in ours. Come to think of it, our entire fuel system, turbo and down pipe came from him.

Interested to see how you solve the weight on the IFS, some sort of coilovers I’m guessing.

4l80e computer in a faraday cage

Clock ring should be able to get the 205 where you need it I’d think? But I haven’t seen the underside of a burb so not sure.

Twin stick cable shifters for 205 actuation, works well it’s what we’re running, and probably a couple hundred thousand others.

Consider a brushless fan with mechanical parts on the shelf. Smaller better less power suck.

What kind of compressor does the burb use for AC? Can you get one that will mount in factory location?

Will Cummins fit with AC compressor in factory location between frame rails? I believe square bodies have to modify frame on passenger side or put compressor up top.

You might be able to get a factory fitting digital cluster that can tell you all the info, I know they make them for older Chevy stuff. Have mechanical on the shelf with fan.

Measure every possible thing you can before tearing things apart and ensure it’ll fit between frame rails and under the hood with the hood closed.

Oh also, do not get rid of anything that you take off the Cummins. Pieces are getting harder and harder to find and more expensive. Pump core is basically 5-600 any where. Or the getrag or 205 for that matter.

Don’t use dynamite, use the other brand I’m drawing a blank on at the moment it’s cheaper and absolutely just as good. I believe it’s called rattle trap. Need to confirm with upholsterer friend.

Doesn't seem like a bad idea to put a truck like this together
Writing a check? Who would do it? Who builds things to my standard? And if I could find this mythical person, what would it cost? I'm not spending 50K on a project like this when I can do it for around a fifth of that cost.
I may or may not do it, but if I do, it's going to be me turning the wrenches
Swbhobie, builds to your standard. Issue is no idea how long it would be before he could take it on. Think he has a line a builds waiting attention.

Did you already put a solid front axle in? Does the burb have a hydroboost you could use? Will of course need to have drivelines made once a drive train is in. Will
The front clip/grill be able to hold the radiator, intercooler, AC condenser, trans cooler (if using automatic)?

75
Just an intersting note, if you order one there is no real communication until a vin is assigned. With that, our original delivery date was oct 16-30. Oct 10th hit and they adjusted it to oct 31-nov 28. Today hit, and they adjusted it to Oct 23-nov 4. We do not yet have a VIN, so I only know the dates change cause I check it in the app.

I believe once Vin is assigned we will know if they are going to bring it to the house or we have to go pick it up. We will also get insurance quoted to the Vin at that time and finalize financing.

Couple of things I learned.

First, you can skip on the Tesla glass roof fabric cover. Just tint it with the ceramic tint. I went with 50% on the roof panel, I think. Without doing that your head will get hot from the glass.

Other than that, I just received my moveable dash monitor apparatus which I will install shortly. I picked up that plus a glare-free screen cover. I want to say I was around $200 for both.

Other than a specific charge cable adapter dog-bone, you won't need anything.
Movable dash monitor thing? Share some more info! Does it allow the screen to pivot, cause that would be magnificent!

We’re gonna have it ceramic tinted and the ceramic paint coating done as well.
Yes, 30 degrees side to side and 15 degrees up and down...And mounts screen 1" lower so you see more over the top of it
Hmm, will need to look into this! I like the idea for sure!

Well lets put this in perspective.

First the plane was worth nothing!  thats the idea behind free!

lets go back when we were all 20yo and in military, all of us had large amounts of unlimited cash(not)

Lets say someone is giving you a D10 Cat free!  all you have to do is fill up the diesel and arrange transport and find a place to keep it until you are done with your next deployment.  And how many of us had resources to even know people that can help with getting all of this done.

Most of us are older now and forget what those days were like,
Young and carefree! Wasn’t focused on much else than Friday, and the next deployment or next school.

I contacted a few places regarding door hardware. I asked if I could buy everything minus the actual aluminum. For what I was quoted, I'm just going to buy the entire kit. I'll make the roof & rear panel with the 1/4" sheets I have.
Have you looked on govplanet? I often see miscellaneous parts and pieces for these at our local lot as I have notifications set up to let me know when things are added there.

This past weekend wife and I had the opportunity to spend the weekend in Honolulu for a marriage retreat, if you ever get the opportunity HIGHLY recommend!

While we were down town we took the opportunity to walk around one of the malls, even though its called International Market place. In the marketplace they happen to have a showroom

Said showroom is nothing more than an expensive rent for the company, where tire kickers of all walks come in and oogle at the merchandise. Like we had before we also joined the oogling, not thinking much of it but just look. So she looked while I had a conversation with the rep at the desk. After looking she comes over and tells me she likes the super expensive one, because who doesn't!

So we leave and go have lunch and do a lot of math. In the math we realize it actually makes sense to let go of the Tacoma and move into something else.
We go back to the showroom talk a tiny bit more and take one of their Model Ys for an hour long drive.

So, Tesla has several Ys on the island. Black performance and red long range. We borrowed a Y performance as its what we were interested in as they are cheaper for some reason. Drove out to Koko head and back, stopped back in the showroom to drop off the keycard and ask a few more questions.

We went home did some more math, thinking, talking, pondering.

You see, wife and I are in an interesting situation, where for the foreseeable future our electricity is included in our rent. What does this mean, we instantly save 200-300$ a month in gas savings buy owning the Model Y vs the Tacoma.  Then, insurance. Any guesses? You probably guessed it is substantially higher than our old Tacoma. NOPE!!! It is 9$ a month more so $54 over a six month period. Most certainly acceptable go without a six pack one week or some such to offset, done deal.  Ok, so why does it make sense?

Cost of Tacoma is right at $840 a month with gas, payment, and oil change ever six months averaged out. Cost of a Model Y with 20-30k down, varies depending on length of course but it is as low as 678 or as high as around 1100 on a 48month loan. So this is where it really began to make sense. After the first year of ownership we will be well ahead compared to owning the Tacoma, one big reason is we will need to replace tires soon on Taco. Sure the Y will need tires too, but not for a few years cost savings is how we see that, even if it is a delayed expense.

So why a Tesla and not a camry, ultimately it comes down to "free" fuel. The Y will be powered by our rent, where as the Camry or whatever else will be powered by our magnificent dinos. Why a Tesla and not a new 2500 GMC Sierra (we looked heavily)? We have our old tractor that will do all truck duties without question, our 1974 W200 Power Wagon with an oil burner 6BT in it!

Instead of buying one of the Model Ys on island, we looked at their website and it showed we could order one and it would arrive within the next 8 weeks. Seems like a long time, BUT to get what you want, color, options, whosits and whatsits, we chose to order. We wanted blue, not black so both rigs would be blue. Silly? Sure, but when you stand together in your decision why settle for instant gratification! Thus we ordered a Blue Model Y with a white interior and the factory installed hitch so we can carry our bikes when we so choose :)

Now, a couple comments on Tesla as a "dealer." Wow, it is like nothing else buying from them. The showroom hosts WILL NOT contact you if you don't want. If you give an email, they simply send a "Hi, thanks for stopping in" and never reach back out. It is so YOU can contact them. No snake oil phone calls "Are you ready to buy, we just got the greatest great in," bs line that 99% of dealers operate with. Then the ordering, which is weird to say alone, but it is simply like ordering a computer.

When you order, you can order on your phone through the app or you can order on a computer through their website, you can also order in the showroom with a rep if you so chose. It is simple in all three places, and the same. You select your model S 3 X Y, then you select battery/motor (performance, long range, plaid), then color. Pay your 250$ deposit and wait for email to ask you to begin your delivery process, your Tesla is now ordered.

So this is where it kind of gets interesting. When we ordered it said delivery would be Oct-Nov. Two days later, we have a delivery date of Oct 16-30. I offered our Tacoma as trade, waiting for a response on that. They were close from the get go of what we will probably get by selling it to Terrance on the street, but we'll see, as it is listed. So far it seems like it is following suite with what Don and Duane's delivery experience was. Due to my location I KNOW it has a 7-8 day trip from Texas, boats just don't move that fast.

So why did we buy a Model Y instead of a Model 3? Wife hates cars  The Model Y is as close to car as we can get (more like a small mini-van). So when it arrives we will have it, our Dodge, and we also have a 1999 4runner. Should be a happy medium of vehicles I think. Old and Smoky in the blue Dodge, New and fast in the blue Y.

If you made it through all of this, thanks I hope you learned something :)

Not sure if the company, but someone sells a kit to install a 6.6l in those. Or atleast for the original civilian hummer. Not sure of structural differences between the two.
I know a guy with a runnin LBZ.
It is for sale…
Not sure if you’d want that challenge.
Personally, I have ZERO desire to ever own a hmmwv, and I don’t care what it’s powered by. I just don’t like them. I see the nostalgia, not denying that but never was something we had considered building.

The only reason I know some one sells a kit, is because I watched a friend do an install for one of his customers. Talk about a tight fit!!

Very scenic! Funny but I don't think of Utah, at least that part of it as having trees. I recall it being more barren and desert-like, but obviously, I am mistaken.
This is one thing I really enjoy about Utah, its wide array of terrain! Seems parts of the north have lots of trees while the southern part has a bit of everything, from desert like to some big lakes, lots of rocks, juniper bushes, trees, just a bit of it all.

Made it to Brownsville, its in the hanger awaiting a lot of much need love and affection.

Cant be more happier with the flight  just a little bit of weather but nothing forcing me down.

TRN yes one shot, three hour flight, remember this plane cruses at 200 KTS I can push it harder and go higher but I was being very conservative for obvious reasons.

just glad we saved another flyable bird from the parts bin.
Nice job Phil! Super awesome to see this live on for a while longer!! Look forward to seeing what you do with it.

This is going to be one of the best in the nation!

Thanks but highly doubtful, just an old shop truck with some better parts maybe. It’ll be a good truck for Montana I hope…..
Too much power for the snow. Let me hold onto it for you

It’s worse than you probably realize or think. There are some very solid leaders still, but the majority of them just walk the line so as not to get fired. CSMs, 1SGs, and company commanders have become close to expendable at the whim of an upset soldier who files some bs report. It’s a sad state of affairs, but it appears to me it was and is all by design.

Installed e-track in the enclosed trailer today. Thought it might come in handy hauling motorcycles or even a pallet of axles.

We put that in the cargo trailer we had years ago, best add we did!

Dave, (and anyone who runs ceramic) have you noticed the inside seems like a heat sink when it sits, but repels heat once it’s cool inside? Every time I get in the 74, it seems hotter than the tacoMa ever is. Difference being 74 has ceramic all the way around tacoMa does not.

Now, once all heat is out, it stays cooler longer than the taco does. Also seems cooler closer to the window. Have always thought that was strange but it’s installed and the installer is in AZ, so no need to fuss just deal.

Price will have to come down I think. Right now the average 100k earning family could not buy one I don’t think.
2022 Nissan Leaf: $35,800
Volkswagen ID4 $37,500
Chevy Bolt $27,200-$32,000
Wow! Not that I would buy any of that, but dang those are actually affordable.

Turner, always trying to be helpful. However I’m knee deep and I lost the bottom to my wallet on this project a long time ago so I’ll keep the compounds.

Interesting fact, I have a good customer who has a similar Jeep. He brought me a set of tons to build for him a few weeks ago. At the time I knew I needed to cut back on projects and long term I want to build a couple Jeeps but older versions my way. Anyhow he was talking of LS swapping his tj and well, I sold him lots of stuff. The tdi is a great conversion and if you need help hit me up as I have a lot of useful info on it.
Thank you sir!

Sold the Jeep to a couple Guatemalan’s a few minutes ago. I had already sold the tdi anticipating I would sell this Jeep. Too many projects and going to be taking on a land development project up north shortly so it was time to cut ties. First time since 2006 I haven’t owned at least one running Jeep, end of an era.
What happened to the Cummins swap flat bed?

Still have it, it’s sitting in a bay at twin peaks diesel. I think we’re about ready to drop the cab down for the last time. I’ve built some piping for the compounds and we’ve figured out the oil drains. I purchased a mishimoto intercooler to handle the boost recently and started fabricating the down pipe.  Afc live is installed as are the 4k gov springs and no fuel plate. Timing is set at 19, need to get cab down and figure out coolant lines.

The current consensus is had I stayed with a single turbo this would have been done a couple months ago by now.
Two things, after reading the whole diesel keep thing I was like perfect, I need this as we have a 99 2wd 4runner needing to be 4wd and diesel. Then you kicked it out! Dang it!!!

Cummins, I’ll trade you my single for your compound. It’s an upgraded s300g from diesel tuff, aimed at keeping EGTs down under towing load.

Figured I’d help you atleast make your fummins on the road.

The Norwegian Foot March is no joke. I've done it twice. First time I missed the qual time by 5 minutes. I did it cold, with no prep. LOL! The second one, I trained a bit!
I never did it...But then again, I never heard about it

Funny thing about going into Special ops as a pilot. In the interview, they ask you if you are willing to go to jump school, Air assault school and volunteer for the Ranger course. Well, I thought about it and decided if those guys all do that, then why not.
So then I get there. They tell me I need to volunteer for Air Assault, so I did. I left Monday the very next week. I finished as the distinguished honor graduate and #3 on the (then) ten-mile run/ruck march (I ran it)
Next, they sent me to level two SERE. Only two schools, the Seals school in Maine, and the Special Forces one at Camp Mackall. Went there and finished that.

Then I turned in my 4187 for jump school, but they said I'd be months in training in their varied fleet of modified Chinooks. I didn't forget, and the very day they finished training me, I dropped the app for jump school. It was denied. Their answer was something like "We are really short on pilots." So I seasoned it for a year while working out daily with the SF/Seals/ and our Airborne guys. A Seal team 6 guy tried to work a back door slot for me through the Navy because I told him if I got it, I would consider an offer to branch transfer over to their side and give BUDS a try. They have a pretty cool deal with team guys who are actual pilots who fly all sorts of things for them.

The Army was furious with me so I called them out. I dropped two more 4187's. One for RIP (Ranger Indoctrination Program and another for the SF qual course, which unknown to the Night Stalkers I had already partially done.

The Colonel pulled me in and asked me if I 1. Had a death wish, or 2. Wanted to be Rambo, or 3. Hated the Army.
It pi$$ed me off because I knew I was as good as any of those guys and I only wanted my chance to prove it. But the NightStalkers can be pretty convincing and before you knew it I was earning my second combat patch and doing some out-of-whack stuff.

Things like that ruck march would have been things I would have loved to do but was not allowed to do. First, we are short of pilots. Later on, we can't afford to lose guys with your experience.

Tough to "Be all you can be" IMHO
Hoping boss lady and I can manage to get into Decembers March!!!! We’ll see how the qualifier goes next month.
