This one was actually on its side. No generators yet. Some of them got a few inches of water in them some were completely submerged. Most of the AC units still work. Some good fridges.
Since I have all these extra parts now I want to add a second AC until to my camper. Maybe one on the roof of the Freightliner. I will use a couple sets of axles on some projects. Sell the rest.
One thing for sure I have enough full propane bottles to last me several years.

A friend of mine and I have been dragging flooded campers out of a campground south of Omaha. It all started out that I wanted one for the axles. Then I gave our my phone number. I have gotten 3 and my partner has gotten 5 or 6. They are just giving then away. I take what I want off them and he scraps the rest.

I worked my butt off getting this out last night but it's already paid for effort just in accessories. Got a big 4 wheel turd toter, nice weight distribution hitch, 2 real heavy jack stands, 2 30 amp extension cords. One with the twist lock. I recently priced twist lock cord ends to change my camper over. That cord end alone at the dealer is $50.

Wife, kids, Mother I law AND dog all left for Kentucky this morning. I'm home all alone for 2 weeks.

I feel for Zane. He built a ramp for his bike and crashed yesterday. He got a wound on his hip the size of my pinky. Length and thickness. Plus road rash all over his ribs, arm and some on his face. He's a real trooper. He said I need to save the ramp. Don't throw it away. Only 3 stiches.

Meanwhile I attacked this pallet of brake shoes and drums. 3 axles worth. Then a friend dumped his trailer in the ditch. Young kid still learning. We went an helped them out. He cut it too close with the box up.

Went to Napa to get oil and filter for the wife's 4 wheeler. Someone bought all the filters and wouldn't let me have one.
I told them I really needed it I already took the old one off. I was told I would just have push it out of the way and wait until Tuesday when the next shipment comes in.
So I bought all the ATV oil. Your filters are not much good without oil now are they. Jerks.

Had some fun shooting in the desert. Shoulder is a little sore from the .270. My Star  9mm jammed on Walmart ammo. So, I tried some ammo from a law enforcement officer that was there. Then it performed flawlessly. I should have know better than buy ammo at Wally World anyway.

Curious how that ramp system works, Jon.
If you zoom in there is an A frame under the front wheels of the side by side. That unbolts and rolls to the rear of the trailer. Then a winch on the front of the trailer pivonts it to the bed and drive off. Like a teeter totter.

Just a couple of the rigs out here. The one with the pick up camper started as a box truck that he cut down. The other one the guy built from scratch. Started out with a bare truck and built it all. He also built the rack on the trailer. Under the side by side he hauls a pickup with topper on it and a canoe.
It's almost fascinating to listen to them explain how they built it. 90% the rigs here are all self contained. They can go just about anywhere they want for as long as they want.

Once you hit evanston, wy. Watch your air, because you are getting into some pretty long and steep hills heading down to the I84 junction.

If i remember correctly, I84 going into ogden has some really nast 5-6% downgrades with some really sharp turns....dave can tell better as he lives right in that area.

If you are going I84 south into slc, i cannot speak on the roads as i have never driven that.
I've been out here a bunch of times but it's been a while. 18 years this july to be exact. Forgot how pretty it is out here.

We are leaving on vacation tomorrow. Headed to Caldwell Id. A bunch of other crazy people that built semi trucks to pull their campers are having a rally out there.  I have seen pictures of some of them. People though I was crazy. Some of these are just ridiculous. I want to say there are 35 or 40 families going. Should be a great time. Besides that I have some cousins out there I have never met. And I have a friend form here that lives out there now we are going to get together with.

We are meting up with another couple on the way and running up together. THe guys that put this together have a whole weeks worth of activities planned for us. Going to a shooting range one day. I have not put one single shell through the 270 I got last fall or the 9mm I picked up this spring. So I'm looking forward to that. We signed up for a wine tour. Never been on one before. Sounds like an expensive booze cruise. We are going anyway just to see the country.

There are a few guys that can run their whole camper off solar. I'm very interested in seeing that set up first hand. Future goals. I read a bunch about it but I'm a visual hands on learner.

Care to explain why you invested in a cover? Does yours leak?

I got my trailer back today after getting a fitted tarp made for it, as well as a heavy duty water proof cover for the smoker.

both of the covers are made out of 20mil tarp.

now I just have to get 9 tubes of sealer for the roof of trailer and get 4 days of sun and no rain to get it stripped off and resealed.

Like SLC Dave said, kind o curious why you got a cover. They look good quality though. The grill cover is great looks like. Person standing with a poncho on.

so to clarify, yes the roof is leaking.  do I know where at?....yes.   do I know how to fix the problem?.....yes.

the trailer is 5 years old and was bought straight from the wells cargo factory down in Waco texas.  the problem is that when the factory put the sealant on over the seam of the roof and sidewall, they only put a thin layer and in a couple of spots it got really thin.  well time, direct sun light, snow, etc has worn that sealant out and now has a few cracks in it.

is it an easy fix?....yes.  it is nothing like what JR and KEN had to go thru with their trailer roofs.  the problem is that right now things are really wet here in Nebraska and not a lot of sun.  so as soon as I can get 4 straight days of no rain, I can get on top of the trailer and strip all of the old sealant off and get some new stuff re-applied.  also, if I had access to massive shops like what farmerjon has then i could get in there regardless of what the weather outside is like and get'er taken care of.

so that is where the investment of the heavy duty fitted tarp comes in.  i have grommet holes every 18", the bottom seam where the grommets are is triple reinforced, all of the corners are triple reinforced and have corner protectors, the rear is designed so that if i need to get into the trailer i don't have to remove the whole tarp and it hangs about 24" down the sides.  right now it is what is keeping the water out of the inside and when i get the roof re-sealed it will act as the additional layer of protection while sitting.

repair costs look something like this:

professional job (probably would not be done correctly) runs about $1000

nate doing the work is $225 for the 9 tubes of sealant and $325 for the custom fitted heavy duty tarp = $550 (and it would be done correctly)
If you need to use the shop for a day or two rent is cheap. Bring a bottle of Windsor for the boss.

But then there is a section that says you only need a medical examination certificate, but not cdl if it is more than 15 passengers it not for compensation(paraphrase).   But that was a quick read through and I might be wrong.

Getting ready for our Idaho trip. Haven't had the camper out yet all year. Didn't really want to go this weekend but had to try the camper out. Work out the bugs. Good thing we did. Roof had a really bad leak. I hope the dealer can sneak me in quick for less than an Arm and a leg. I dont have time to get it done myself. That and I don't really know what I'm doing We leave a week from Thursday. Between now and them we have a buch of grain to get hauled. Beans to finish planting if it ever dries up and my wifes aunt in Cincinnati is on hospice. I really hope we don't have to go to Idaho by way of Ohio but we are prepared to leave at any time.

Got most of the plating done. Went and bought a generator off Craigslist on a whim. Turns out its a PE-197 military generator.  I didn't know what I was getting and the person I talked to on the phone had no idea the are make or model. I got it home and took some pictures. Then I hooked up a battery and got a can of starting fluid and hit the button. It started.

I don't know my plans for this right now. I just want to clean it up and get it running good. It has a Hercules engine on it. I was trying to make a new thread but for some reason it wouldn't go through.

Anyway, today we are going out to the Hard Rock Casino in Sioux City for brunch. My wife's birthday was the 16th and mine is tomorrow.

Speculation is that they are mangalista pigs. A breed from Hungry that have only been in the US for 10 years or so. I don't know what they are for sure. But we are going to feed them out and see what they taste like.

Our area rep for Landoll came to the shop today to go over how to operate the new drill. Should be pretty easy. Old school technology mixed with some new.

We will be running some late nights if it ever dries out. So, I decided to mount up some LED light bars on the tractor. One in front one facing back. Had to make a bracket for the front that attaches to the weight bracket.  I don't know what we are going to do on the back. It will go on the roof. Figure that out today.

No pictures because the camera on my Google phone decided it don't want to work anymore.

Ive been really busy. Still hauling rock for the flood. 600 miles a day. I think I'm done with that now.

The other day my wife was in a fender bender. Not a big deal. Caught the bumper cover and fender then swapped paint all down the side. Shes fine just shaken up. Pretty cut and dried its the other guys fault. Estimate was $4,000. Replace the fender then remove and paint all the body panels. There was scuff on the tire so its getting an alignment also. Plus rental while its in the shop.

My new planter came in. I got rid of the John Deere Air seeder and went back to an old school type grain drill. Changed colors even. The new one is blue. Landoll.  The Deere had so many moving parts. A fan blows the seed from a central tank down the tube to be planted. Some tubes were over 20 ft long. Chasing clogged tubes was not fun. It was plagued with electrical problems. Maintenance was very challenging to say the least. This drill we got should be so much easier to work on. They haven't changed much in the past 100 years. Same basic design only heavier to handle no till applications and some electronic monitoring. Hoping for some dry weather so maybe I will be able to use it someday.
 http://landoll.com/home/products/farm-equipment/agriculture/5000-grain-drill/#fullText

In my spare time (very little of that) a friend of mine and I have been getting flood damaged campers for free to salvage. We have 6 or 7 now and have a bunch to go get yet. Taking them to his place. I take what I want and he strips the rest. He is your  typical junk man. I want a couple pairs of axles. One pair is going under the cooker/smoker I built a while back. Another pair for future projects. My camper is pretty old so I will keep a spare air conditioning unit, water pump, electrical converter, stuff like that. Some of them only had a inch or so of water in them some were totally submerged.

I repurposed an old grainery. If you build a new coop make it tall enough to walk around in. Makes cleaning raiser. Also you can get some decent roosting bars. They like to be up high at night. My daughter was supposed to paint it last summer. You can see how far she got.
