In Nebraska we never called anything a Hot Dish. Everything is casserole. Unless its lasagna. We even make a Runza casserole.

I don't know what you would call it but my favorite quick meal is something I call slop. It would fall in the hot dish category.

This is from my bachelor days but the kids really like it.
boil A bunch of egg noodles
lb of hamburger browned
1 can of cream of mushroom soup
add 1 can of mushrooms if you want. I like mushrooms.
You can add peas or corn or what ever you want.
mix it all together and thats it
I will pile it on my pate then melt some cheese on it in the microwave.

It looks like slop but its good.

Why would you need permits? Doesn't look to wide, heavy or to long?

Is it like Ca where they have to get their piece for interstate?
Need trip and fuel permits. We hardly ever leave the state so we dont have ifta stickers or apported plates.

Just working on the camper some. Changed out all the lights to LED. Made a big difference. Checked bearings and shakles. Took all the curtains and shades out. My Mother in law is going to make us some new black out curtains. Just about pulled my hair out getting permits to run into Iowa with the semi. I hauled a fire truck over there a couple weeks ago to get fixed. Now I have to go back and get it. I didn't get permits the first time. I thought I better not press my luck. Picture is from when I dropped it off. I can't remember if I already posted it or not.

I bought this off of Amazon. Having never seen one before I went strictly off the reviews and comments. It fit really good. I had to drill the hole for the keeper a little bigger. When I hung it up it hit the heads of the bolts. That made the hole off by just a hair.

I thought it was a little flimsy at first. But once I got it installed I have no doubt it work just fine. Actually I think I'm going to throw a second tire on there. I don't have another rim but it would be nice to have a backup for the backup since I have one laying around anyway.

I have the truck in the shop. The owner calls me and says the turbo is shot. Fins are pretty nicked up and leaking oil to the cold side. I anticipated it would be bad but hoped it would be fine. Add that to the list. Good news is the overhead tested out perfectly. He also said someone had been in there recently and did a bunch of work to it. Lots of new parts. So that part just cost me labor and one rubber gasket. I'm just waiting for them to pull the oil pan to do that gasket. I hope the bottom end is as good as the top. Supposedly the rods and mains were done recently. Supposedly.

We had 48 scouts participate. There were a few that couldn't make it due to the weather. My nephew got 2nd in the Pack. Zane gave it a good run. They ran 6 times. He won 1 and second 5 times. Not enough to win anything but if I had to guess he was in the top 15. He has a fast car. Just not fast enough. His times were consistent. Most cars got slower as the race went on.

Hauled a truck to get repairs for one of the local volunteer fire departments. We got about 6 inches of snow  overnight. The geese like it but the chickens looked outside and turned right around. Nope not going outside today.
Picked up a tractor and baler the other day at an auction. Been doing some maintenance on that. Fixing some lights and oil change and so on.
All the area schools cancelled school so we all took a snow day too. We loaded the feed wagon last night so all I had to do was jump in the tractor (parked a whole 50 yards from my house) and go feed. Took me about 15 minutes.  Now lazy day. Watching some things we want on the Big Iron internet auction and doing research and buy parts off Amazon for the Toter project.

So the tricky thing with signal boosters is......cell companies actually get REALLY PISSY when you get use them, and can actually track where they are by the signal that whatever tower recieves from them and then come and make you turn it off.

But as far as im concerned, i say screw it and get the signal wherever and however you can.....lol

Wendys dad litterally lives in the middle of nowhere and his shop basically acts like a faraday cage.  She got him one of these, and he put it up on the top of his shop amd now has 4g inside with absolutley no issues.

Started to fabricate the end caps for the bumper. I made template out of cardboard then realized the material would not fit in our bender. I made a trip to one of our local welding shops with a cut off piece from the bumper and my template. 45 minutes later I am out the door and headed home with my new caps. It took a little trial and error to get them to fit right but we only had to start over 3 times

So there I was last Wednesday after work. Having a drink in the office with the guys. Neighbor lady stops over and said there was some weird guy broke down a mile from the farm. So 3 of us went to investigate. There was a pickup in the middle of the intersection just like she said. I asked th driver what happened. He talked very quietly with a foreign accent.  Broke down. I asked him if he wanted a tow truck. He said no. I asked again whats wrong? He said it died. I asked again do you want a tow? He said no. The whole while my hair is standing up on the back of my neck and I am having a very bad feeling. I said fine then let us push you off the road so someone don't fly over the hill and hit you. He agreed to that. We wet to push him thats when we seen both tail lights freshly broken out and smashed tailgate. The guy couldn't get his vehicle out of park. I looked at my boss and said very quietly, Go call the sheriff. Why? Just do it. Whats wrong? Just go call the sheriff. Whats the matter with him? Dang it just go call the cops! I don't have the number. At this point I ignored the boss man and got in our vehicle and called them myself. In the mean time the weird guy got his vehicle in neutral and rolled it down the hill pointed straight for the ditch. Whatever. Its off the road. Sort of.

We leave him there and go park on the hill so the cops see us. I told dispatch there is a really weird guy broke down. He is really putting off a bad vibe. I need an officer out here. Something is wrong with him. It just don't feel right. 15-20 minutes go by. No cops. Weird guy starts waking up to our vehicle. I call dispatch back. Whats the ETA on Lyle? ( I know most of the deputies by first name) Oh, he wasn't on duty yet he had to get dressed. I told her he needed to hurry up because weird guy was waking up to our truck. She asked are you keeping him warm? NO! I don't want that guy near us! There is something wrong with him hes speaks a foreign language cant understand him hes not right! Is he a Mexican? Nope.

The temperature is around 0. We take pity on him and decide to let him in the truck. My boss is drilling his yelling Where are you from what are you dong here. I'm sitting there wanting to tell him to shut up and leave the guy alone. Don't agitate him. Finally got out of him he was from the Ukraine. He didn't know where he was going. When asked what he was doing here he said, That's a tough question. Then he fell asleep or pretended to.

Cops finally show up. State patrol. I give them a run down of whats going on and we leave.  Later that night the sheriff called. I guess the guy got violent with them. The tow truck driver said the vehicle was not broke down. It started right up and he drove it on the roll back. I don't know what happened to the guy. I'm waiting for the paper to come out so I can read the arrest reports.

Because I count my calories. If I get the diet coke for lunch I can have one more bud light in the evening.

I don't know what happened exactly. I thought the pregnant sheep was going to have her lambs so I called the vet. He said she didn't have any in her. We couldn't find any laying anywhere. They must have died inside her and she absorbed them. Unfortunately she didn't make it either. Zane was pretty upset. He claimed her as his own. He named her Maria.

It's always hard watching our little ones learn these life lessons.

Once this weather straightens out I will find a couple bottle lambs for him. For him to raise.

Mocking up a rear bumper. 8x8 5/16. That is not a piece of wood. Imagine it's a 6 inch 5/16 channel. Taillight will bolt to the bracket. Rear of frame will be straightened out and gooseneck ball will be installed. As well as a receiver hitch on the bumper. I will fabricate end caps on the bumper and use it to store stuff in. Likely the sewer hose but who knows what I will put in there. I would like to find a tool box to mount on the center section between the bumper brackets and frame rails.

Back to working on the truck. Making some changes and fixing a couple things.

First of all I had to chase the mice out. It my fault they got in there and did the damage they did. "Someone" left some pork rinds in there and some microwave popcorn. I forgot about my stash when I cleaned it out last fall.

I put new rubbers in the fuel caps because they were leaking. That didn't work so I ended up buying new fuel caps. They are spring loaded and they get weak over time.

Then I had to find the oil leak. I crawled under the truck with a power washer. Did the best job I could before freezing. The next morning there was a nice streak of fresh oil running down the oil pan. These do not have your typical gasket on the oil pan. It has a rubber gasket. Like a very large O ring that fits in a groove. The oil pan is actually fiberglass. Parts are around $20. It's just a matter of getting it done.

My generator is not charging the battery. After only a few hours of run time the battery is dead. I did some research on another forum. Someone sent me a PDF of the service manual. I studied that. It turns out there is a bad diode and a wire not connected. I have a diode on the way. That problem should be solved

I found a spot where the heater hoses go into the block. The pipe looked awfully rusty. I was just going to change them out. In the process of trying to figure out what I have to remove to access them I found a nice little crack in the exaust manifold. I will not be fixing that myself. I noticed that there is also a broken bolt. I will let the experts take care of that.  I was wanting to take it in to run an over head anyway. That's basically a tune-up. Make sure the valves are adjusted properly and all that.

When I get all that done, I want the square off the rear of frame. Then install a gooseneck ball and heavy duty rear bumper with receiver hitch.

We leave for Caldwell Idaho second week in June so as long as the mechanical work is done by then we are in good shape.

The pusher axle on my Pete was jerking back and forth shaking the whole truck going down the road. Turns out the bolts came loose on the arms and the holes egg shaped. They don't make this style anymore so there are no parts available. A new pusher cost $8,000.
So I found some steel the same thickness and made plates to weld on. Punched holes and shaped them to fit. Put new bolts in and tighten them down. Then since I'm a really crappy welder my brother welded them in for me. Dang bolts are expensive. 3/4 inch grade 8 fine thread cost $15 apiece. It's still way cheaper than 8K for a new axle. It seems to work well and should last for a long time.
