Old barn was too short to get anything into it and pretty rotten from having pigs in it for 50 years.

Tore down the hundred year old barn by my house. Leveled it out and put the garage I got earlier this year there. Next this old building is going away. This was our old shop until about 12 years ago. The building is wind damaged so it's got to go to make room for a new storage building that will go in its place. The 54 Chevy will be pulled out and hopefully back on the road by spring. It's been sitting there since 02 or 03.

Had a joint campout with the cub scouts and their families. Everyone had fun. Even Jasper after he fell in the sand bur patch. The Boy Scout troop made breakfast for everyone. We served 40 people. The main thing is the parents got to get a look at how we do things when the boys get older. Many parents were in scouts as kids and I look forward to working with them in the future. We may be a small troop but it looks like we will be going strong for the foreseeable future.
I didn't get a picture of breakfast but this is a hunk of an 8 lb pot roast. Cooked in the new Dutch oven I purchased with some.of your donations.

E-Trailer is a good place for parts. They also keep track of what you buy, which makes it nice when you need information or more parts. If you are replacing the drums, look at replacing the magnets too
This trailer hasn't been serviced in probably 15 years. It's pretty ugly. I'm replacing everything. Brakes, magnets, drums, bearings and tires. The date code on the tires was 2002.

Went to a different dealer and got everything for near half the price of the first one. I don't know why 2 trailer places would be so far apart on price.

Where do you guys get your trailer brake parts. I need new drums and brakes for our scout trailer. The drums have some pretty good grooves worn in them and the brakes are covered in grease where the seals failed. The local trailer place wants twice the price of what I can find online. $230 per drum and over $100 per brake kit. They are 8 lug 12 inch hubs for a 12,000 lb trailer.

Shawn elaborate please? When you were getting just a little out it was the black tank?   you pulled the black and all the grey water came out?

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

So let me elaborate, first the wife isn’t allowing #2 in the rv atm. So the black was really just a little tp, #1 and water. I had dumped what I thought was black early in trip and got some tp out of it but thought it was residual tp left over in drain.

Shes not allowing number 2 in there? Get her some really greasy tacos for supper. When they hit at 3 am that rule will go away.

Every year they have a national finals truck and tractor pull near here. I always go because I get free tickets from one of the seed dealers. This year they did away with the VIP area so no tickets. They are pretty pricey and having to buy my own drinks I decided not to go.

A couple days ago I was asked to be on the track crew. I wasn't going to turn that down. Thats better than VIP seats. I get to be up close and personal.

They are still hoping the surgery is going to be as planned tomorrow on his leg. They are going to put in a feeding tube tomorrow as well.

We spent the past week at Boy Scout camp. We had lots of fun and learned a lot. Had an incident with the campsite next to us. We shared a shower house. If our boys get there first the other troop would bang on the doors and yell at them to hurry up. I told my Scouts if that happens again yell back, "The more you yell the longer I'm going to take". Maybe not the best advice because one boy from the other troop pulled his knife out and started popping the locks and opening the shower doors on them. My troop showed back up at camp very upset. I got them settled down and in bed. Then I went and talked to the scoutmaster of the troop we shared a campsite with. They had the same thing happen.  We decided to wait until morning to confront the other troop. The boys admitted to it and apologized. Then the camp director immediately sent them home. That was Thursday morning.  You are supposed to stay until Saturday. I noticed that entre troop was gone by Friday morning.

Jon, have the same gen I got for $800, then found it has a bad head gasket. Another one of those things I need to get to.

Runs great and pretty quiet for an 3000rpm genset.

Does yours have auto start?

I don't think so. Haven't got it home yet. The company that had it builds and refurbishes wrecked service trucks. It was on a truck that came in. I looked at it before I bought it. Let it run a good 10-15 minutes. I was surprised how quiet it was.

Nice score Shawn.

I really liked my TFT remote trailer tire monitoring system. It was a comfort being able to see temp and pressure on the trailer tires

Onboard air system is another nice to have

Jon got ‘em going early!

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks Charles, may need to look into the TFT system. I have two seperate small compressors. One is viair that runs off auto battery and second I a small Senco unit that I can run off truck inverter.
I think Charles means TST.

I have the TST system too and what bugs me is the screen is not oriented in the way the truck rolls down the road…

If I had to do it again, I’d probably get this system from TireMinder. It is oriented portrait with the truck at top and trailer at bottom - in line with how you drive. Just makes more sense.

https://www.minderresearch.com
I have TST and I love it. You have to program the monitor to get everything in place.

Had a meeting with my Boy Scout troops Charter organization last night. Our charter is the local American Legion. I am trying to renew our relationship. The last scoutmaster drifted away for some reason. I think I was well received. Even though I was asking for money right away. They usually pay our yearly charter to the council and in return the Scouts help with flag ceremony's and what not throughout the year. The past several years none of that was happening. I think they were happy to have us back. They said they will start paying the charter again and I am supposed to come back next month with an amount of how much money we need to get through.

Since we pull kids form several of the area towns, they are going to reach out to the other American legions and VFWs to see if they can put together a donation to get us back on our feet.

Our only fundraiser is havening a concession stand for the ball games at the park and during the county fair. Because of Covid in 2020 there was no fair so, no income. Luckily there was enough in savings to float that year but now with all the price increases and stuff were broke.

I inherited a mess.  The last guy did everything himself and got burned out.  I think I got a good committee put together. I have some parents getting involved with meetings and campouts. Now it's time to turn our attention to the gear. Our equipment is laterally falling apart. Tents are dry rotted. Dutch ovens have mis matched lids. Water containers all have busted or lost lids. I got tires on the little trailer but now I am having a good turnout at campouts I am going to have to start using the big trailer.  I checked it last night and that needs tries too. 4 mis matched tires with date codes from 02-07. We will get there it will just take some time to get it all sorted out.

My phone is on the fritz. texting my pics to myself.

Putting solar in the container and will run to TH on arrival. Should get me by for years, well past the building at least

Four 12v 200AH lithium batteries running a 48v Hybrid inverter, 3500 watts that will charge solar panels I have.

Inverter;  https://www.amazon.com/dp/B092HW4TX8?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

Batteries; https://www.amazon.com/dp/B092HW4TX8?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

Just ordered all the wiring, switches and such. Plus can charge via a genorator for those hot nights needing AC.

The 4 batteries are balancing/charging right now. They fit in the 2 lower shelves of the paint cabinet (some handle trimming)

5 year warranty on all the stuff, now to figure the solar setup. Plan on 4-6 panels for now, max input 140vdc/4000watts.

You posted the same link twice. What are you using for a battery monitor? I installed a Victron smart shunt in my camper. I like it so far.

She was looking forward to spending the summer back home in Kentucky but that can't happen now. She is getting depressed that our family Vacation plans have been canceled because of this. All we want is for her to get better. She's not use to having this kind of attention on her. She is use to being the one who takes care of everyone else.

We have a 08 suburban and 09 Tahoe. Both have the 5.3 and both right at 180,000 miles. I have had a little trouble. At around 150k you will have to start looking at ball joints. We had to put them on the Tahoe but not the suburban yet but hey are getting bad. On the suburban I had the heater hose fitting break and lost all my coolant. Then I had to replace the O ring on the oil pick up tube. Sitting at a stop sign and lost all oil pressure. I gave it some gas and pressure came back but it was low.

When we go to Omaha, I like to take the Tahoe because it gets around better in parking lots. The suburban rides better and has way more room especially after I pulled the 3rd row out. I tow a small trailer for scout campouts. It does pretty good.
