putting new exhaust on one of the trucks. The tips are rusted into the muffler. I already spent a whole bunch more money than I wanted to on this old thing. I don't want to cut the tips off and be too short so I figured out if I cut the top of the muffler out and made a slit in the ring then they came right apart.

Since we let our hired had go we have an extra truck just sitting around.  So we decided to sell one and trade the other off. With the sale of one and the trade shouldn't  have to pay much at all. Both trucks do the job but not as well as I like. This is what I'm looking at.
2021 Kenworth  T880. Once we run the numbers I will ordering one similar to the picture.  500 + hp Cummins 7 speed Allison  transmission,  16,000 lb. Front end and a factory pusher axle.

we just picked up a similar truck (albeit not quite as stout as that one.) but it’s a clean 2016 579 mid roof sleeper with a short wheel base and ISX 15L cummins with a 10 speed eaton. former wal mart truck so very well kept and has an APU already installed.
We do a lot of off road. In and out of fields at a gross weight of 95,000 lbs. I have to have the ground clearance.  I'm selling my 379 Pete and trading a 2015 Kw t-800. Neither of them have very good clearance.  Especially the Pete. I'm always plowing the ground.

A soon as I heard they arrested some white supremacist I though this is a huge set up. There is going to be a shooting. Some one will pose as a huge trump supporter. Or they will set someone up with a bunch of guns and say see what we stopped.

Sent you a pm Jon. But basically you're just building multiple 12v batteries using 2-6v Batts as a set. So think of it as 3- 12v batteries instead of one big one.

OK I understand now. For some reason I was thinking I would get 18 volts that way. Because 3 6s in a row is 18. Thanks for the video link!

Last summer I purchased another inverter for the camper. I have also acquired six 6 volt golf cart batteries. I have figured out how to run 4 in series parallel to get 12 volt. But I cant find anything on how to add 2 more. All the diagrams I can find either show 4 or 8 batteries. I will be putting this on the camper its self. In the front compartment. It is well ventilated.

I got the inverter on an online auction for $60. The batteries I got free. The cart quit working. I have been collecting battery cables with bad ends that we have replaced on equipment. I can shorten the cables and put new ends on. So I think I will be in this little project under $100.

My goal here is to run my fridge while we are going down the road and so I don't have to run the generator all day boondocking. However I will have to carry a battery charger and run the generator to charge them. Or if we hit a campground with power I can just plug it in. Wife likes to get a "real campground" at lest every other night. I am not going to go solar just yet. I want to get this up and working first.

Not doing a whole lot. Storm coming in. Not use to the snow coming in from the south east. It's blowing right in the cattle shed. They got a fresh layer if bedding a few days ago and will will get more as soon as the storm let's up. I like to see them covered in snow. That means they are warm. The snow acts like a coat. If they are wet they are cold. These are all Wagyu cattle.

Looking good. I run a modified wave inverter in the freightliner for my fridge. It dont seem to mind it. I will be installing another one in my camper hooked to six 6 volt  golf cart batteries to run that fridge. That will limit run time on the generator.

Loaned a trailer out this last two weeks. Trailer came back in less then desirable condition.   Wet( yes it went snowmobiling some water to be expected) the tongue jack appears to be bent ( crank now hits the jack when operated) there are tie downs that were damaged/cut from the user. And a small panel removed on accident.

Not sure how to approach the bower about my displeasure.

It’s now in the garage drying out. Going never loan it again and start the build process to make it a camp trailer

You call the guy and say. Hey that trailer is all dried out now and in the shop. You can come over and fix it now. If he does then great. But I've been in a similar situation. I don't know the guy bet I bet he blows it off. Some sorry people have to ruin stuff for everyone.

Spent the weekend in a winter campout with members of the Facebook group "Nebraska preparedness network". I was the only one with a camper...I mean bug out vehicle. We had a lot of fun. It was like Boy Scout scout camp but all adults. They put on some little workshops and some skills testing. I learned a few new things and refreshed my memory on a few others. Best of all I made some new friends.
I was very intrigued by the hammocks  some guys used. So simple. Everyone that had  hammocks said they would never sleep in a tent again.

All done. Used 3M butyl tape as a sealer. Seems to have worked well. I found out that when you put on the final trim piece on the inside just snug the screws. If you tighten them too tight they will pull through the plastic.

I also picked up this Brute generator. My brother paid $400 new used it one time and sold it to me for $300.  I like it. Works just fine. Its one of those things where he needed a little extra cash and I had some. I don't have a solar set up yet.  I rely 100% on generator when boondocking so I figured $300 is cheap back up. Well then this way if we want to unhook and go somewhere I can use the Brute and keep the camper plugged in. That's one drawback to having the main generator on the truck.

I got 4.0 BFA Onan out of an old Motor home. I thought it would be plenty but its just not quite big enough. It works just have to be careful how many things we run at one time. No microwave with the AC on.
I Installed it in large tool box and hug it off the flat bed on the truck. I used a 50 gallon auxiliary fuel tank for a John Deere tractor. I took it to an electrician friend of mine. He ran power to a breaker box and installed regular 110 outlets as well as 30 amp camper plug on the bed. He also ran 4 outlets into the cab.

I found this 05 GMC. Near 200,000 miles but real clean. They have it listed at 6k for it but said they would 4k cash. It was raining so I don't have a chance to check everything out like I wanted to. It's going to need tires, the CV joints clicked when I turned the corner in 4x4 but no noise in 2 wheel. The blend door is stuck on defrost.
If I get it I will just throw some P metric tires on it. So I'm looking at a little over $500. CV shaft is like $80 apiece. Blend door is an easy fix. I will go back on Monday and and look at it again.

I use to really like vehicle shopping. After the 5 the test drive I was done.

Got a hole cut and test fit. Got it mocked up on the inside. Looks like everything is going to fit like its suppose to. Now I have to figure out what to use for a sealer and get it together. It first I thought I might use the stuff they use on windshields. But if that window ever broke you would never get it out. I am going to look into the stuff they put on RV windows. Butyl tape or butyl calking.

Sold the Duramax today. Have mixed feelings. One less payment but it's odd watching your truck drive away with someone else. Didn't quite get what I wanted. Figures the air conditioner would quit now. But I got enough to pay it off and get something decent with the balance.
It served my family for a lot of years. Its time to let it take care of another. Becides that can use the extra cash to clean up some debt.

Dealing with someone who has had a stroke can be pretty difficult sometimes. I had a blow out with the boss last night. Over nothing.  Just having a conversation. He mentioned that somebody got some new trucks. I said yea I seen them. We should have gotten that kind instead of the Kenworths because they are so much lighter. Then he just went with no warning. Yelling you don't like anything I do it was your idea to get Kenworth and on and on and get out of my office. (it was his Idea to get them we just rolled with it) By now I'm getting kind of mad too. He was drinking when I got there I asked how much he had. One short glass of Windsor/water. I should have kept my mouth shut but I had to say that was plenty if he was going to act that way. Then he yelled some more Don't tell me what to do and called me some names and then I left.

I have never seen that man raise his voice in the 18 years Ive been here. I seen him pretty dang mad but he does not cuss he does not yell. Until now apparently.

This morning over coffee it was like noting ever happened. Business as usual and hes coming over for Christmas eve dinner.

Its not just me. Hes gone off on some of his best friends also. I mean he got nasty and called them all kinds of names one day. They were just joking around with him like they always did.

Most Favored Companies / North 40 Premium Beef
« on: December 14, 2019, 08:09:54 AM »
My neighbor is co-founder of this company. He is a very hard working young man. He and his partner built this themselves. He didn't have daddy's money to help. As a matter of fact his dad works for him. Logan started out with one Black Angus heifer when he was in 4-H. He built his Angus heard up all through High School. Then he changed over to Wagyu abut half way through collage. When I asked him why he changed breeds he said everyone has Angus. I cant compete with the big feed lots. I found a niche market and I want to fill that. He partnered up with another guy that over sees the quality control and marketing.

All the meat on this web site is bred and born a mile from me here in Nebraska. Shortly after they are weaned they come over to our feed lot for about a year before being finished at another facility. We have a very modern facility here. The cattle have free choice to be inside a barn or go out if they wish. We replace bedding in the barn as needed to insure they are as comfortable as possible. No growth hormones and very selective antibiotic use.

Give the web site a look. I personally guarantee it will be some of the best beef you ever tasted.

I got an Orica cooler a few years back. They work great. I can fill it with frozen meat and a little dry ice. 100 degree heat in the back of the pickup. I checked it after 3 days. The top layer was just starting to get soft. They don't make good beer coolers. The ice don't last any longer than a regular cooler because you open and close it all day and its smaller inside so you get less in it.
