What honestly troubles me the most about it.....

We condemned the germans for what they did, held them accountable and stole all of their technology for our gain.  Then on the opposite hand, we crushed the japanese and kindly asked for their informatiin to be turned over to us, in return we looked the other way for their atrocities.

Not to mention what the Soviets did to the Polish Army in the forest of Katyn. That event didn't get any attention from the U.S. A lot of morally squirrelly shiznit in politics, especially during war.

I like the concept art. Only question is scale. Are those 35" to 37" tires, or 20" mini tires. That'll be the difference between a bad@$$ truck, and some little POS that looks like a child's toy.

Don, Interesting info, especially on the cost of all the shiny new gear he had. Who wrote the article? Or are those your observations? Reason I ask, is the statement about the rifle set up "only available to military and law enforcement". Usually when I see that statement, it means the author is full of shiznit/knows nothing about what makes an AR platform MIL/LE only. Usually, it's because they make an assumption based on seeing the term MILSPEC.

That said, based on all the expensive crap he had while working part time minimum wage, I bet this kid was getting cash through less than legal means. Selling drugs, selling himself (physically or over the web), or something else. Could he have been trained? Very possible, especially on the dark web. It would not surprise me if there was some network on the DW for training impressionables to perform these and similar nefarious acts. Could be happening through chat functions in video games, too. I mean, this is old hat for terrorist orgs. I'm sure ANTIFA probably does the same.

Don, before you purchase, do some research on the warranty, and available service techs in your area. My sister bought an LG unit, it had a recall which cause her brand new fridge to fail. Home warranty wouldn't touch it because it was still under manufacturer warranty. She called the manufacturer, was told the parts would be coming to fix the fridge, but had to be installed by an LG certified tech, or the remaining warranty would be void. There is only one tech within 150mi radius of where she lives in N. AL. It took almost 5 months for him to get there to do the work, and his fee was not covered by the warranty. Just an FYI.

Something else this reminded me of. Remember reading about the US Army Air Corps raids into Ploesti, Poland? Well, I think that's Poland, but we went there a couple of times to bomb the german refining facilities. Where the Nazi war machine was manufacturing...synthetic fuel for their diesel and gas war machine...

Ploesti is Poland.

119
Yeah, that's pretty much what I came up with. I just didn't know if there was a difference when it comes to combustion of used synthetic motor oils vs. used crude-based motor oils. Or if combining the two can create any further issues. Nobody seems to touch on that in the interwebs, that I could find. Creating bio-diesel out of WVO seems to be a little involved, especially if you can run down to the local lube-n-go, grab some used oil, put it through a filter sock, and just run it.

120
So, can you burn both synthetic and dino WMO? Can you mix the two? My short interweb rabbit hole yesterday didn't find any info on that topic.  All the oil change places I know of mix all their WMO, and I'm wondering if that would still be useable if the SHTF. I don't know why it wouldn't be if filtered appropriately, but I am most definitely not a chemist. Just a CDATWAT.

Any update on your young crunchy...I mean infantryman? Has he found a Polish bride yet?
Poor kid has been in the field, training, for 2 weeks. Has another 2.5 weeks to go before he finishes.
That's all they do is training followed by training, then more training with a forecast of additional training. Easy to see how they are so eager to kill something once we cut them loose!

That's good! Makes him proficient. ;-)

Beto's not a true Texan. He was born in El Paso (my home town) then quickly shipped off by his well-to-do family to various boarding schools and high-fallutin universities before returning to the state, appropriating Latino culture, and running for office. In short, he's an entitled idiot.

General Vehicle Related Discussion / Re: Red diesel tank
« on: June 02, 2022, 12:26:22 PM »
Everybody I know who run an aux tank in the bed of their trucks just have it gravity feed to the fuel filler hose. They only fill up from the aux tank. That, I think is the simpler route. You could get caught by DOT, though (how often do they check?). In AL, if your truck has farm tags, you can run red fuel, don't know if that applies in the tuck. If so, maybe just get your truck registered for farm use? Also, there are some fuel additives that can give highway diesel a red tint, but I can't recall the name. Had a buddy get popped once by DOT, but they let him go when he produced an empty bottle of that additive.

135
Did you mention how low it was?

Good question. It didn't register on the stick.

136
You know, I did have to break out the manual to figure out how to operate the dipstick. It sent me to a youtube channel that had a man-bun wearing hippy tell me about all the benefits of joining the liberal movement. I then said, "To h3ll with that!", popped the hood, and grabbed hold of this stick thingy that said "OIL" on it! Would you believe that stick thingy actually has an area on it that says "SAFE LEVEL" and another that says "ADD OIL"? Who new? LOL

Checked the oil multiple times over the past few days, and it is solidly in the safe zone. I'll continue to keep an eye on it. Still no leaks or drips anywhere.

Oh, and as an ARMEE combat arms guy, my skin is quite think. I've enjoyed the comments on my stupidity. Keeps one humble! ;-)

137
Yeah, well. I think all of us have succumbed, at some point to the thought, "It couldn't possibly be that!" LOL! My mind went right to "this must be a complex problem" when I should have just stuck to the basics.

And Tex, it's been quite a while since I worked with explosives. 70+ ton steel and DU battlewagons, are another story entirely! LOL

138
Thanks for the quick input. One of the things I love about this group. Okay, I am now open to all manner of criticism for my stupidity for the next 24 hours. Go!

139
Well, I believe I discovered the problem. My dumb@$$ checked the oil, and it didn't register on the dipstick. Added a couple quarts, and drove it to the oil change place. No sign of oil leaks on the truck, and no spotting on the ground. I guess the old girl burned up a bit when I was driving back from Co Springs a few weeks ago. I got stuck in a snow storm east of the springs, and sat for a long time idling while the pulled a semi out of a ditch. Ended up being a 30 hour drive (continuous, minus fuel stops) to get back to Columbus, GA. Only thing I can think of. I'll be checking it regular to see if it goes down. I'm a bit of a  :knucklehead: sometimes.

140
Happened again this morning. I'm due for an oil change. Actually, about 700 miles overdue. What are the risks of continuing to drive this?
Oil pressure=blood pressure

You need to know if the gauge is accurate, like Phil basically said.

Yeah. Time and only having one vehicle here are my enemies right now.

142
So, had an issue this morning (2006 Ram 3500 Cummins). Outside temp was 46*. Started up to come to work, and after a few seconds the check gauges light came on. Oil pressure gauge dropped to 0. I shut it off. Started it back up, paying attention to the gauge. Pressure came up, then slowly began to drop. I bumped the throttle, and it went back to normal. Engine sounded smooth, no unusual noises. I drove it in to work with no other issues, but continued to pay attention to it. Through my running to various appointments today, everything was normal. Anyone have any thoughts what this is?

I'm confused. So, as I recall, the Good Book says we (men and women) are made in his image. So, how do we invoke His name, and for all intents and purposes, also claim He got it wrong? SMH

D.O.T. / Re: So I won't get fired
« on: April 01, 2022, 02:38:19 PM »
I've seen two negligent discharges with a pistol in my 25 year career. One was an O-6 "clearing" his pistol in the barrel outside the chow hall. Nothing happened to him. The other was an E-5, who had just come off a 30hr straight mission, who was sick and running a fever but went outside the wire anyway. He dropped the mag, but forgot to rack the slide, and sent a round into the same chow hall clearing barrel. He got busted to E-4. These were overseas, 2005-2006.

I've only seen one ND with a long gun. We had some guys from the sustainment battalion assigned to us for deployment in 2009. During our train-up, I had all the Soldiers in my troop carry their M-4s, with blank adapter fitted, and locked/loaded with blanks, every where we went. During the initial brief when I was passing out the BFAs, mags, blank ammo, and explaining consequences for what would happen if their was an ND, I hear "BANG". It was a great punctuation to the briefing. LOL!

146
Yeah. In his unit, only officers will typically be issued a pistol. Usually Commanders, and staff officers.

147
God, how I love to stir this pot. :evil

It’s so much fun.  In the end its what you practice with.

But I will say I’ve never been beat in a pistol match by a 1911…..

Here we go….again

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

That just tells me the caliber of competitors you've been facing. ;-)

148
Lol i knew that would stir the pot….

accurate or reliable, choose one when choosing a 1911….

sloppy was reliable, and tight was accurate.  Of course Ive never thrown a $3500 custom 1911 in the mud and stomped on it to verify….

But i have done that with glocks….

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I've got a couple that are "sloppy", that are plenty accurate (I used to be able to have 5 hole touching at 20yd). Funny thing is, that performance could never be repeated from a bench rest. Then again, you won't be using a bench rest in a "shoot the bad guy before he shoots me" situation. Never had a reliability issue with them either. ;-)

I've also owned Glocks, I like them. Good pistol. I just prefer my 1911.

149
I think he means those outdated overpriced inaccurate unreliable hammers you love…

(Shots fired - literally)

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

John Moses Browning was a genius. The 1911 design proves that. Been around for over 100 years, and still the go-to combat pistol for a lot of trigger pullers on the pointy end of the spear. You Glock guys are just like cross-fitters. SMH

150
I find it odd the gov hasn’t got anything newer then either of those two guns,
1976! That’s old as Don!
