Lol i knew that would stir the pot….

accurate or reliable, choose one when choosing a 1911….

sloppy was reliable, and tight was accurate.  Of course Ive never thrown a $3500 custom 1911 in the mud and stomped on it to verify….

But i have done that with glocks….

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I've got a couple that are "sloppy", that are plenty accurate (I used to be able to have 5 hole touching at 20yd). Funny thing is, that performance could never be repeated from a bench rest. Then again, you won't be using a bench rest in a "shoot the bad guy before he shoots me" situation. Never had a reliability issue with them either. ;-)

I've also owned Glocks, I like them. Good pistol. I just prefer my 1911.

I think he means those outdated overpriced inaccurate unreliable hammers you love…

(Shots fired - literally)

John Moses Browning was a genius. The 1911 design proves that. Been around for over 100 years, and still the go-to combat pistol for a lot of trigger pullers on the pointy end of the spear. You Glock guys are just like cross-fitters. SMH

I find it odd the gov hasn’t got anything newer then either of those two guns,
1976! That’s old as Don!

The Ma Deuce is still in use, continuously since 1917. ;-)

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / Re: Am I the only one

You're right on. Common courtesy is no longer common. It seems like a vast part of our society has been so convinced of their own importance, that they expect courtesy to only apply TO them.

I think the air cleaner is off of a Caddy or Lincoln. It was stock back in the '50s I think. That one is clocked a little funny, though. Beautiful car! Hope the inspection report matches the photos!

Our grounds crew  at the ARNG Professional Education Center had a bunch of those. They are definitely work horses, and seemed to be low maintenance.

So good news don, 3-69 is entering modernization and is not scheduled to go anywhere anytime soon.

I have been informed to pray that he does not end up under SFC Hobbs as he is a self absorbed prick who thinks he is gods gift to the infantry.

Yep, they'll be getting the latest and greatest variants of the Abrams and Bradley.

161
Yep, they're all "Combined Arms Battalions (CAB)" now. In each brigade, you'll have 2 heavy (2 companies of tanks, 1 of mech infantry), and one light(ish) (1 company of tanks, 2 companies of mech).

162
Yeah, I think this is especially a problem with the COVID Quarantine facilities. Management of those facilities is a rotating duty assignment, taking away from normal duties. And since these are "replacements" no-one really takes ownership. A real "not my Soldier, not my problem" mentality, which is a shame. I think it will be better when he actually gets to his unit. Either way, he should be out of quarantine soon, as the requirement is only 10 days from onset of symptoms.

163
Any word on the pre-Ranger's unit of assignment? Has he recovered from his crud?

Have you considered a Gear Vendors over/under drive? Wouldn't help for towing or off road, but would provide an additional overdrive gear for daily driving. That might get your MPG numbers to where you want them.

On the audio-book topic: it's pretty popular. I listen to audio-books when I run, or drive long distances. I know a lot of people who do the same.

Good news! Still sending prayers your way.

167
Sounds like initial contact was with a pissed of Staff Duty NCO, who had probably been taking a bunch of calls from others reporting in "sick" to get a few more days. Might have gotten a little different result if he requested to speak to the SDO, but that request may have caused additional problems for him. Hope he feels better soon, and HH6 doesn't end up with the kung flu while driving back to the Kintuck. Let me know if there's anything I can do.

168
He'll enjoy Poland (if they allow some MWR trips). Great place, most people speak english, beautiful women, the folks like Americans, and its inexpensive!

Take a look at one of these.

You can replace the battery yourself, the bands last quite a while, and if you have to replace one they are pretty cheap.

I used to swear by G-Shock, but after getting one of these, G-Shock dose not even compare.

https://www.suunto.com/en-us/Products/Sports-Watches/Suunto-Core/Suunto-Core-All-Black/

Great watch! I wore the earlier version for years. I've now been wearing their Traverse Alpha GPS watch for 6 years. Despite some rough field wear and a deployment, it looks brand new and still has fantastic battery life.

174
Amen! That said, I don't think James Holly had any military background. Admiral Nimitz just did what any good senior officer should. He took in the damage, but only as a part of his overall assessment of the situation at hand. We must all have a certain sense of optimism. There is always another mission, another fight. Despite our losses, we are dutybound to refit, and continue the fight. If we give up, the war is irrevocably lost. The military always looks to the next fight, even when the politicians tell us the war is over.

Looks like the start of an heirloom piece! Sucks about the deadlined mill. Proper PMCS might have prevented a failed bearing. SMH. This is why before, during, and after PMCS is important. I'd bet you haven't submitted a 2404/5988E in quite some time...

Report to the 1SG and XO for counseling!

Be careful...

Wouldn't want to fire ya just before coming over to visit with ya...

;-)

Haven't fired in a while. Figured I was due! LOL!

Concur with ST. 2200 RPM in my 24v Cummins nets about 17mpg in my truck. You won't see 20mpg numbers unless you stay under 2k rpm, or at least I have not.

Nate also contributed to my delinquency, and coerced me to jump on the band-wagon. SMH! I purchased the same ones. I've spent a lot of time staring through army owned ones, so why not? LOL! They're a great bit of kit. Now, to get back into practice with range estimation....

When we get him home.
Thinking about it. We have family day one the 16th. Maybe after that, when he has to report back, we could meet up??? On the 17th its, graduate and go...hitting the road for the long drive home...

This month?

Not to mention he's wearing Class B shoulder boards (only worn on the shirt) on his Class A blouse, which should have non-subdued pin on insignia. Nor should we point out he's wearing a unit award mixed in with his individual award ribbons. And what looks to be the full-sized NDSM below his CIB. Also, his branch insignia is all jacked up, and his rank insignia on the beret is not centered in the flash, rather off to the side so he can sport his DUI like an EM. Also, if he was truly SF, he wouldn't be wearing a black beret with the generic Army flash. Oh, and his tie is non regulation (too shiny). LOL!

I'm glad to hear I only gave up one summer! Oh, and all that tactical combat casualty care, which taught me to do things EMTs aren't allowed to do...I guess that was a figment of my imagination. I wonder, since I only "gave up one summer", what they hell happened to the last 24+ years of my life? Was it all a dream? I wouldn't mind waking up tomorrow with a 24 year old body again, I'll tell you that. SMDH! Sometimes I'm embarrassed to admit to defending the rights of an oxygen thief like her. The amount of ignorant drivel that is vomitted up by like individuals is utterly depressing. Our education system is definitely failing this generation.

Rant complete.

So to review the rules, everyone:

#1 Don't Mess with Big Don
#2 Don't say or do anything that would/could possibly make Big Don look bad/wrong/incorrect/not in charge/anything like that
#3 Don't be critical of anything Big Don is building/doing/saying/thinkin'/ or anything like that
#4 Don't even think about any of the above
#5 undefined
#6 Undefined
#7 Undefined
#8 Undefined
#9-#122 Undefined
#123 Be courteous
#124 No cussin'
#125 No obsene nothin'
#126 Don't put up with hippies and the stupid things they say/do/think/build and things like that
#127 Be honorin' God, always, and even before always
#128 Help thy neighbor, even if his name is Ken or Dave and your name is Sean or Don
#129 Be kind to one another
#130 Say nice things about Don/things he says/things he does/ideas he has/suggestions he makes
And that just about does it...

Don, I think you got the order wrong. Number 127 is actually number one. And #5-122 are not undefined, but Classified. And I'm a little disconcerted that I'm being lumped into the Dave category. If this is true, I need to up my "do things to get fired" game. ;-)
