If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

Thanks.  Sometimes I need to be reminded of that fact.

You will meet Jesus in the air.

I certainly hope He calls me up.  I can't take that for granted, I've got work to do yet.

Every day it seems more likely that it will happen in my own lifetime.

They'll have to execute me.  I don't plan on making it easy for them.

I really wanted to go to carnival.

You can go to Carnival safely.  Go to Saba.  Way out in the ocean, maybe 1000 people live there.

Check out these coordinates in Google maps: 17.645166, -63.220761

That's where you land via DeHavilland Twin Otter on Windward Islands Airways.

My family's roots are there, and they run deep.  When the Irish arm of my family bailed out of Europe, this is where they landed... way back in 1620.

It is hands down the friendliest place in the Caribbean.

I got down to the last sentence, and you said exactly what I was thinking.

NO reason whatsoever for me to travel to Timbuktu just so I can see a pretty animal or a particular mountain.

There is more wildlife and scenery than I can possibly take in during my lifetime, right here in the North American Continent.  If you want to see what Mexico looks like, just go to the non-tourist parts of Puerto Rico.

I do want to explore more of Canada.  I've driven across it dozens of times, from west to east across the entire length of the Trans Canada Highway from British Columbia to Montreal.  It was a series of wonderful experiences, but I know it's just the tip of the iceberg.

No sir, I don't need to see Ashcanistan for myself, the pictures will do me just fine.

Of all the auto dealerships I've been to, Chestatee Ford in Georgia is by far the best.

I've bought three vehicles from them, and the process has been very simple each time.  No pressure, gimmicks or weird sales tactics.

Ask for Brent, he's a good Christian man, and his daughter is just finishing up at a Christian college in Texas where she has majored in Missionary studies and is looking to travel abroad to spread the Word.

I actually drove my truck through one of those at Long Beach Airport LGB.

They had the nose and tail ramps open, I drove my truck inside and there was a gantry crane within the plane itself, where they lifted the machine off my gooseneck trailer, and I drove on out the other side.

The awesome size of it was, well..... awesome.

Classifieds / Atlanta area: I'm hiring truck drivers
« on: April 13, 2016, 05:04:17 PM »
I need class A and B drivers who like to work.

I'm tired of the slack-asses who cross my doorway in their house slippers looking like mommy rolled them out of bed and made them find a job.

I need go-getters.  People who present well and are polite to my customers, and not afraid to use a pallet jack or get their hands dirty from time to time.
You will make it home almost every night.  I don't hang my drivers out to dry on the road, waiting for loads.  If there's no back haul, you turn and burn.  Bring it back to Atlanta where we have outbound and local work.

Take home from 700-1000 per week (could be potentially more) if you can give me at least 55 hours every week.  Late model Kenworth equipment.

Dry Van, Flat Bed (pays more), and Hazmat endorsement is a plus.  If you think this sounds good, or know somebody who you would vouch for as a hard worker who shows up ON TIME, holler back at me.

Parenting / Re: Adult child moved back home

Good on you for taking him in, and more so for making him cough up some money to help out.

Here's what I'm up to:

My 19 year old daughter and I had a deal.  The deal goes like this:  You take the trash out each and every day before I get home and clear off the kitchen counter so I'm not having to sort through dishes and whatnot before I cook dinner.  Mind you, this deal does not include WASHING the actual dishes, just clear them into the sink or preferably the dish washing machine.  My end of this deal consists of making sure her car is in good mechanical order.

Well, she has never, not once EVER, held up her end of the deal.  So therefore she owed me $2000 for various car repairs.  She's been paying it off, little by little, and has it down to $1100.

Well, this last Saturday, totaled the car.  Following too close, going way too fast.  GPS tracking shows she never hit the brakes at all.  Both airbags deployed, front end packed in really hard, 100% at-fault.

She's been acting all indignant because I told her when the insurance check comes for the car, the repair money comes straight out of that, to be paid in full.  "It's not fair", she says.

So I says to her, I says... "Tell that to American Express".  And I continually remind her, that she had the sweetest deal on earth, just take the trash out and clean up the dishes that she herself left all over the place, and all these car repairs would have been on the house!  Kids don't know how good they have it.

We all aspire to give our children better lives than what we had, but in the process we spoil the heck out of them... but the alternative is, what... they hate us until the become adult enough to appreciate how hard we made it on them?

It's a fine line.

Back on the truck topic...

I watched this one get restored/converted from the frame up... 1965 International Scout.  Originally had the 160ci 4 cylinder with a single barrel carb.  Ended up with a crate 350, turbo 400 trans, Currie-built Dana 60 axles, full interior cage, aluminum dash with liquid filled gauges, and he even kept the original vacuum powered windshield wipers.  Sitting on 36 inch BFG Mud Terrains, this picture is before he flipped the axles below the leaf springs, effectively raising it up a few more inches.  This truck is a daily driver now in Durango, Colorado.  She makes about 400 horsepower.

The time is nigh.  In our lifetimes?  Perhaps.

Revelation 9:1-6

9 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.

2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.

3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.

4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.

5 And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.

6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.

Ruger LCP, 3.5 or 5 inch straight blade (depending which belt I'm wearing) and the Leatherman all go with me everywhere.

I don't swim in public pools, but when I go tubing the LCP fits nicely in a Ziploc bag, and I wear cargo shorts so plenty of room.

Church, bank, airport, doesn't matter.  Unless I'm actually getting on the plane, I meet people at the baggage claim outside the checkpoint.  I really don't care about signs that say "no guns" or "gun free zone".  I'm not whipping it out and waving it around, and nobody's the wiser.

I've got a pair of similar radios from Midland for my two daughters, kept in their bugout bags.  I keep them on FRS channel 3 because it's a high power channel.  These radios will not work with GMRS repeaters although they do cover both GMRS and FRS bands.  The wife and I carry Baofeng UV-5R radios programmed with all our club repeater's frequencies, and keep the dual watch mode on FRS 3 so the kids can always break in if needed.  We've advised our HOA via the community website that FRS3 is our neighborhood emergency channel.

If you haven't done so already, it's a good idea to let the people around you know how to get in touch via emergency comms.  People might end up sequestered in their homes, and the ability to talk from house to house, or even outside the community by repeater might be crucial when the SHTF.

Bearing in mind that line of sight is needed, the higher you get the repeater radios in the air, the farther you will be able to reach.

In theory, these radios putting out 4 watts should be able to get you a solid 20-30 mile range without any trouble.

If you're building a tower, you'll want to look into some real repeater gear.  This outfit is for intermittent use only, and is not what I'd call robust in terms of standing up to heavy radio traffic.  It works well for camping trips and such.

Wow, I just read the story about the ambulance... Sounds like you just got a lemon on that deal.

Never, not ever, have I had a catastrophic failure of any kind on any Ford I've ever owned, and that includes 10 different F-series medium duty trucks including F-550, F-650 and F-750 (Cat C7 motors in those).  Not to mention my E-350 (5.4L V-8) and my F-250 (7.3L Powerstroke), and the 2000 Grand Marquis (4.6L V-8).

Sure, you have your chinese water pumps and other various accessories that wear out... but rods shooting through the block?  Turbo failures at low miles?  Unheard of in my world.  Sorry about your luck.

All my trucks are high mileage, the van currently has well over 300k on the clock...

OK... I'm embarrassed to say that my garage is in disarray and it would probably take me an hour to get to it right now... BUT:

Here is a quick youtube video that shows how it works.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9faCP4rZbg

The interface used to connect the two radios is $24.99 on Amazon, http://smile.amazon.com/SainSonic-RPT-2D-Two-way-Repeater-Transceivers/dp/B00ITN0T0G?ie=UTF8&keywords=baofeng%20repeater%20interface&qid=1459980186&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1

The antennas need to be at least 5 meters apart for it to work well without a duplexer, so the way I solved this problem is by putting the second antenna on the end of a 20 foot cable.  It can be tricky getting that second antenna up in a neighboring tree.  I use fishing line tied to a rock, throw it over a branch, and pull it up with the line.

Now that I saw that post in the other thread about the tennis ball launcher, I'm going to have to build one of those so I can get this rig WAY up in the air, increase my range!

Wow... tough crowd here... this will be like Michael Richards playing the Apollo theater, but here goes nothing:

My old Ford truck collection... 2000 F250, 1997 F150, 2001 F650, and hidden behind that is a 1998 Ranger stake body...

And here's my old 2000 Peterbilt 378 with a P4F Wildcat on a flat rack container, about to make it's way to Japan

All these trucks have gone on to new owners.

Current stable includes a 2006 E350 van, 2013 Flex, 2000 Grand Marquis, 2006 Z1000, and 2005 MR2 Spyder

We're primarily a Ford family... but Jesus told me in a dream to forgive people who drive GM products.

I'm licensed for GMRS, callsign WQVH815 (ATL-807 on North Georgia GMRS network).

A great resource for anybody that wants to get involved is www.mygmrs.com where you will find forums and maps showing locations and the basic information for repeaters all across the country.

I'm using Baofeng UV-5R (and their variants) radios for handheld units, which can be had for about $30.00 on Amazon.  They are great working radios, fully programmable.  You can hear all the NOAA weather frequencies as well as use these for 70cm / 2m ham.  I replace the stock antennas with Nagoya NA-701 for an additional $15 and you got yourself a great radio that can be used almost anywhere.  In my vehicles I have Icom IC-F621 units that can really reach out and touch someone.

North Georgia GMRS network covers almost all of Georgia north of the Macon line, and most repeaters are solar with battery backup.  The repeaters are free to use for licensed transient users, but regular members are asked to donate.  When I travel, I do some homework ahead of time and program the local repeaters for the area I'm going to, and we have found this to be very useful at Disney in Orlando, the mountains of Southern California, Northern California, as well as around the racetracks in Indianapolis and Austin.

It is illegal for the repeaters to be cross linked to work like a cell phone, although there are some areas in the country where people are doing this because... let's face it, who is actually enforcing any of these laws?  I listen in on ham bands all the time, and have a lot of frequencies programmed that I'm not allowed to talk on, "just in case".  Myself, I follow the rules, but I hear a lot of people who are not.  Then you get Joe Hambone talking back on the frequency that "this is my repeater and I will find you and you will be prosecuted..."

Yeah, right.  I get it, it's yours and you want to be in charge, in control, whatever.  My opinion, if the unlicensed user is polite and not hogging the airwaves, I don't really care.

I have a portable repeater that I built out of two radios in a Pelican case so I can sling it up in a tree and change out the batteries every 12 hours to have an emergency system in place.  Also very useful for camping trips.  Sometime soon I'll be getting a small solar setup to put on the outside of the Pelican box so it can stay in the tree for the whole trip instead of taking it down to change batteries.  Bottom line, it's a portable waterproof repeater that works for 12 hours and gives me a solid 20-30 mile radius without needing pure line of sight between transceivers.

I've got a lot of family around the Bay Area, from Santa Cruz to Los Gatos to Richmond and Daly City.

I was actually born in Hayward, and spent my youngest years tramping around on BART... summers we camped in Plumas Eureka State Park and Yosemite.  Weekends were at Half Moon Bay or anywhere on the coast.

I miss the beach, and real mountains... what passes for mountains here in Georgia are like gopher mounds in California... but it's all green, so many trees it boggles the mind.  I love the granite everywhere, red clay earth, lakes and streams, and lots of rain.  Oh yeah, we have actual seasons here too.  All four of them!

I live in Sugar Hill, about 30 miles north of Atlanta.  Enjoying the "country" lifestyle, relatively speaking since I moved here from Long Beach, California... lived in SoCal most of my life, and while it has it's charms, I'm definitely not looking back.

California has it's rugged terrain from mountains to sea, but the problems in it's government and overall regulatory climate were finally just too much.  I doubled my income, doubled the size of my house, and cut the mortgage by over 60% all in one fell swoop.  Also when I go outside at night, I hear frogs and see actual stars in the sky... something I used to have to travel for several hours to accomplish on the west coast.

Yeah, quality of life is great... but now that I'm involved in the local politics, our Governor Nathan Deal is letting me down left and right, caving in to the prog-libs and bowing to Hollywood and Disney when it comes to religious liberties.  We're going to stay in it until our youngest finishes high school, and will be looking North towards Tennessee or perhaps the Carolinas at some point.  It's not time to pull the rip cord... yet.

I think we all need some sensitivity training here...

Just think of all the mongrels who will be offended because we've associated them with these jobless rejects who contribute nothing to society as a whole.  We must consider the feelings of those who have mixed backgrounds, and not lump them all together with those who have no background, no backbone, and no sense of civic duty, honor, fear of God, love for Jesus, or any other redeeming qualities!

So please... let's all try to be more caring.

Hello everyone, my name is Matthew and I live in north Georgia.

I'm a Christian, a novice prepper, radio hobbyist, motorcyclist and outdoor enthusiast.  Recently got myself a little convertible sports car, enjoying it greatly.

I stumbled over this website on my other regular forum, BadWeatherBikers.com where somebody cross-posted a link to the Duramax forums showing Don's green bug-out truck being built, and was intrigued enough to head over here.

I like what I see here, and hope to be a valuable addition to the community.
