Glad you're okay.

We had one go by about a mile north I think from the same storm, based on trees down and damage. My sisters house lost their power lines and a tree or two.

A big portion of the difference is that farm fresh eggs tend to be, well, fresh. Store bought eggs can be up to 60 days old by the time they are bought. They have thirty days after they are laid to get them packaged, then thirty days for them to be sold. And that's if everyone is being honest, which we all know everyone is. /sarcasm

I for one like me some fresh eggs from some happy chickens.

Nice looking place, I can think of worse ways to have the back yard set up.

Drove up to Grand Rapids MI today for a couple of days of work meetings. Had a nice dinner and laughing at the locals singing karaoke at the hotel.

Last time I was in San Antonio was basic training back in 1990. Enjoyed the visit and the Alamo.

Just had a thought, the plumbing looks solid which makes me wonder what happens if/when your two inch line is completely full of water heading to your tanks?  Do you have an air vent to let out the increasingly pressurized air or is the tank going to have to burp eventually?  Not sure what the right way to handle it would be, maybe just not tightening down the threaded fittings at the top of each tank would be enough to let the air hiss out as the water fills it up.

Also, for you overflow you could plumb a standard Tee into the section between the two tanks facing up at a small angle, should give enough resistance that the water would still follow gravity into your tanks until they are full and then just over flow from there. It would give you the opportunity to plumb in another pair of tanks there in the future if you wanted also, or just run an over flow line off to another location.

Anyway, just a couple of thoughts from a nonprofessional who thinks he knows things.

Yes sir, 86 K-5 Blazer. It was bone stock as an Alabama fish and game truck when I bought it. Painted it a version of American Lafrance safety yellow for the search and rescue team I was on at the time. Driving home one night and the back end jumped about six inches off the ground doing 50 on four lane. Ring and pinion in the 10 inch read end were trashed. Found a 3/4 ton front and rear for a goood deal at the local junk yard. Put the axles under it on the driveway outside my apartment. Fire ants and the fact that rear end weighs about five hundred pounds were the worst part of it.

Much better

I doubt the 2" pipe will keep up with anything other than a moderate rain. A thunder storm dumping 7" an hour will overcome a 4" pipe.

Based on my kin-tuck math, the cross sectional dimension of the typical downspout 3x4 inch is 12 square inches, for a 2 in pvc, it is only 3.1415 sq in.  So I'm afraid I would have to agree with Don that it might not keep up. However, if you are going from a 3/4 in hose which only has a cross section of .441 sq in, you are about seven times larger now than before.  How did your previous system handle the backlog of water during a good rain?

Local well guy (sometimes state funded websites too, we had them in Indiana) can tell you static local water depth FYI.

Follow the link below, trust me, its safe
Actually, this is the kentucky state GIS system with well information.  If there are wells in the area of your place, it will show the total depth, casing depth and bedrock.  If it is a newer well, it will also show well quality(gpm and such data).  Hope this helps with a little technical data.

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / Re: Interesting American early history
« on: February 11, 2017, 08:32:40 AM »
Sounds like a real man cruise line I thought up several years ago. It would be built out of an oil tanker. We could troll slowly and invitingly along the Somali coast, just tempting the pirates to come out. About the time they started floating up beside the large craft, the guests would come out on the lido deck armed up and ready to rock. I think we could quickly reduce the whole pirate culture to an interesting sidenote in maritime history. Maybe even do the same with Iran.

Headin out to the property today to make a detailed topo map so I can properly plan my new driveway in and placement of the house when we get to that point. I'm going to try a new app on my phone that takes gps readings every few feet and makes contour lines in a map. Should be interesting, I'll let you know how it goes.

Worked at the moneymaking job and trying to plan out my driveway onto the property.  Its a 100 ft vertical change between the bottom and where we are planning ot place the homesite.  Should be a fun few days when I get the dozer in to do it.

Hey Don, let me know if you need a punching dummy for your team, I haven't been beaten on too much since I stopped doing taekwondo a few years ago.  My kids still try but I manage to win, but its a challenge when they all team up and its me against 8 or 9.  Worst part is trying not to squish the little ones.

My kids don't have to worry too much about bullies, as we homeschool, but sometimes they aren't the nicest to each other and try to bully one another.  We allow them to defend themselves between one another.  If we have to step in, there is a good chance both are going to get negative consequences from the interaction, so thy are pretty good about resolving it.

Took four of the kids out to our property for a few hours. We have 55 acres in northern kentucky. They spent the time running in the woods and playin in the creek. There was ice on the creek so they were pitching rocks out on it trying to break through. I walked the property looking for potential building sites. All in all a good day. Also washed the bottom of te Blazer in the creek.

LDS church announced yesterday they are going to examine the changes and decide what they need to do, so our support is not a given any longer. If the LDS church pulls out of BSA,that will hurt them more than BSA could realistically deal with roughly 40000 units and a half.million scouts. I personally hope they do pull out and start their own program, not sure if they could or would join trail life or one of the others.

1121
Not smart enough or responsible enough to buy a beer until 21 in most places. Cant buy a rifle until 18, handgun until 21. Military service, not until 18 without a parents permission. But you can decide your heavenly Father made a mistake putting you in your body at around 5 years old, decide to get an abortion or birth control pills through the school nurse (without parental consent) at 13 or so.

Somehow I think things have gotten a little screwed up. I heard on the radio this morning that the child that started the furore last year with the cub scouts. Her mom said she decided that she was a boy at 2 years old.  Just wow.

1122
Is that called "gender fluid"?  Isn't there a dipstick to check that?

I'm with you regarding voting with my feet. I'm going to see how my local unit handles it short term and go from there. We have a church unit only encampment, so we'll see. Beyond that, there always trail life or I just start taking them to the farm a lot more and it gives me more time and hands tl build a new family Cass there.

1124
I really don't know what to say, except that sadly I knew it would happen, just a matter of time. I've got five boys, two that are old enough to be in scouts and this makes me uncomfortable.  Especially when you start talking about campouts and extended scout camps, the risk of something either happening or just the accusation of something happening is too great. Not to mention confusing our young men when they are at a most vulnerable stage of their development. Don't get me wrong, I feel horrible for the already confused youths that have been misled and confused by their parents and society.  But this isn't going to help anything except protect their delicate sensibilities and give rise to additional opportunities for the money grubbers(lawyers) to take someone else's hard earned money.

Maybe I'm off base, I don't think so, but I trust that you all will set me straight(?) If I am.

Dave

The only reason I have tint is for it's original intended use, blocking out the sun, but I also understand why it makes our boys in blue nervous.

That's not profiling, if you break the law(speeding) and they stop you just to see if everything is okay and send you on your way if it is, that's a lawful stop and frisk rolling style. As long as the 10% receiving tickets don't receive them for the sole reason of being a member of a demographic of your choice, no harm no foul. If they get tickets or arrestdd for being idiots or criminals, that's their own darn fault.

There is a fairly heavy dose of sarcasm on this post.

Bummer you got caught, but sounds like the officer was doing his job. Around here that speeding ticket is a $75 fine plus court fees..(usually $49) and 2 points against your license.

I could think of a million other things he could have been doing... like fighting crime.

I just got pullled over last night leaving church with the kids. Got tagged with a half mile of the church on road that's 35 mph. Hr said I was fling 49.  Told him I knew I wasn't and asked him where he clocked me at, he didn't give a very definitive answer. Took my license and insurance card(expired card but I have insurancce) back to his cruiser.  Kids asking all sorts of questions the whole time.  He cones back up and hands them to me, "have a nice night" and walks away. Not what I was expecting but I'll take it over a ticket every time.

Just a thought, not sure if it really a concern pr not.  What about moisture levels and mold inside the structure, particularly in the warmer months. You are going to have 500 gallons of h2o stored in there, so there is a good chance of humidity and condensation.  Not sure what the fix action would be,but I would guess it would be preferrsble to remediation.

Funny, I was picturing the below "truck" in my head.  Its got some definite benefits going for it.  The front bumper is low enough to catch on any curbs to keep you out of the dreaded mulch, and in the gut-wrenching circumstances where you end up in it anyway, the front air dam can act like a small plow to push it out of the way until you reach  the safety of solid ground.  Just sayin, I'm trying to watch out for you.

Table base for the back porch.  Next a 2'' rough cut wood top. W is our last name initial.
Looks pretty awesome!  I think that would even withstand the way my kids treat furniture(outdoors and in).

I've got a couple of sick kids and the wife is under hte weather, so I'm not getting much done today.  Researching foundation types/costs and construction methods.  we've got 55 Acres here in Northern Kentucky we are considering building on.  When we've decided on plans, I'll post a pic.

Since this actually might have a chance of passing, it would be nice to get a wait list started for purchasing a suppressor as soon as it does.  I'm guessing that there is going to be a backlog waiting for suppressors once it doesn't put you on the boogeyman's radar.

Well, with a steep enough incline into the garage, liberal use of the go pedal and then a well timed application of the stop pedal, you don't need a winch to offload.

Another idea would be to make the garage water tight and flood it to load and unload the boat, kind of like going into drydock.

I think that's the extent of my ideas for tonight, but I'll be sure to update you if anything comes to me while I'm sleeping.
