Must be something in the air because I was also considering this.

My snap-on guy has one that he used to make a roll cage for a sandrail. If he could make one work, anyone could.

How many amps? You can get regular relays that will handle up to 40 amps. You using a fan controller/thermostat?

I've used these with success. Pretty cheap considering the adjustability:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/hda-3647/overview/

...oops, I think i misunderstood why you were using the solenoid. I would still consider that fan controller tho.

If you want a solenoid that is meant to stay engaged for long periods , you can get a latching relay like motorhomes use for switching batteries. It looks like a solenoid, but works differently. The duty cycle numbers of a starter solenoid pertains to the coil inside, as well as how many amps it will hold. The coil gets hot from holding the contacts closed, no matter the amp draw. A latching relay doesn't use hardly any current to hold it closed (sometimes none), therefore has a 100% duty cycle.

Wait, it back crosses to another number, that can cross to a Standard #, and Standards version is Not 100% duty (as with most starter solenoids)....and Standard/BWD are the same company.

I know linex guys don't strip when they recoat because mine's twice as thick as before. They may use an adhesion promoter though. You can buy it in a spray can, and used for door jambs and anything else a painter is too lazy to sand. lol

The ranger was too long for my toyhauler by 6-8 inches. Options were either extend the trailer (not easy but very doable), or buy a shorter toy (not after all the work I put into this one). Right now I take the bed off and strap it in the vertical position for hauling....not hard, but getting tired of it already. ...Plus, aluminum is cooler than plastic!

bump...

It's just low voltage right? like 9 volts? Transformer in garage probably?
Not my field of expertise but it sounds logical....low voltage isn't picky, but maybe someone else that knows will chime in.

Personally don't think they are any more special than any other, and definitely not worth the premium.

Just trying to understand how you can blame a tractor for overheating when the radiator is plugged....

It's good stuff, but once it's in there, you can't "top off" with air, if you ever needed to.

..... The dust and debris clogs up the radiator every time and I have to shut down and clean it all out before starting up again.

Not to be a smart butt, but is there a tractor that won't heat up with a plugged radiator?
...or are you sayin' the mower kicks up trash differently on a deere?

Hey Don, please quit beating around the bush and tell us the straight scoop! lol

No matter what you get, it will be the same. Outsourced drivetrain, fancy plastic, etc....it won't take what you're throwing at it imho. My NH is doing fine, but if I pushed it through the same stuff you do, it would probably fail. It has wimpy shift levers, china this and that, plastic, and other gizmos that the older ones didn't have.....but at least this NH doesn't have a computer.

A couple days worth of destroying cut-off wheels, and about a dozen mini roloc grinding discs later, here's the latest version. If this doesn't work, I'm going back to sleeping in a tent....it weighs less than the trailer by a few pounds, I think !!!!

Couldn't bring myself to start over from scratch, even though it would've been a lot easier.
First, covered the mesh with tape and started laying out a pattern. Diamonds seemed to work the best:

So, my brother finally decided to leave the big city of Phoenix and bought some land near me, This weekend he wanted to spend some time there and do some tractor work. The ground is pure silt with creosote bushes scattered about. I recommend having water on hand to keep the neighbors from calling in for excessive dust. Rental place wants 120 for a 500gal trailer, so I says "don't worry, I'll handle the water". I proceed to order a 2" waterpump that that came with both the suction and discharge hoses from Amazonia for about 240, and a 2" spray nozzle for 40 bucks, and beg my buddy with a scrap yard for some 330 gal totes....so for 280.00 we have a good dust control system.

...then, after renting a backhoe in addition to my little tractor, one of his neighbors that is almost done building a house next door, gives us a bunch of bad news concerning the nightmare he has had dealing with current county regs about water drainage redirection, and placement of culverts, material/size of the culverts, and placement of the future house in relation to the current washes(arroyo, dry creak).
The property has several washes. In the past, it was okay to just divert them as long as they ended up leaving the property in the same place...now, not so much. A hydrologist has to look at it, an engineer has to make recommendations, etc. Grease this palm, then that one, and so forth.
It's been an expensive lesson.
....So much for rural life.

Rant over.
