the installation instructions were pretty straight forward and easy to understand.

upon taking the pallet off the truck and opening things up, everything is wrapped nicely and enough padding to keep things from shifting and scratching other parts.

Everything Trailer, Camper, or RV related / Diamondback HD Tonneau Cover
« on: November 16, 2017, 06:12:36 PM »
So for my birthday a few weeks ago, a very awesome and gorgeous woman bought me a DiamondBack HD Tonneau Cover for the new truck.  I actually settled on this cover because of shawn's recommendation based on him having the SE Tonneau Cover.

I went with the HD version because of the weight capacity and the 12 tiedowns.  The instructions say that it should take about 45 minutes to assemble, I took my time, fiddled around a little bit and end result was about 2.5 hours.

A few things I noticed about this cover are.  The panels are super light (all aluminum) and slide on the hinges very easily.  All of the edges on the low profile cab guard and the aluminum truck box are nice and rounded and covered with rhino lining so you don't cut yourself.  All of the welds look pretty good, and the Rhino Lining that is sprayed on this thing if pretty thick and evenly applied.

so here are a few pictures of how the cover came when picked up at fedex.

This is very cool! Where do you get the vanilla beans?

I order them off of amazon.....make sure you get the grade A ones, they are much more moist and make a better extract than the grade B ones.

Nice! Thanks! My wife has an aunt that makes homemade Irish Cream that she gives as presents. It's always cool to get something slightly different like this. Do you leave the beans in even after it's ready to use or take them out?

yeah I actually leave them in, the little particles don't bother me if they happen to end up in something (more flavor)

I’ve got some sitting that I mixed up earlier this year, just take it and shake it every few weeks. Should be using it for Christmas and thanksgiving tasties soon.

I bought a bunch of vanilla beans a while back, this is the second batch I’ve made. First one was with skye vodka, the blue bottle looked nice for vanilla in the kitchen. Don’t remember what we bought this time.

Yeah i used a bourbon bottle last time, so i figured i would get a nice clean/clear pop top one and see how it works out.  So far day 2 is showing some really nice deep brown color, hopefully it continues.

Just stumbled across this Nate, Thanks for the knowledge.....

Make a bottle for your wife for christmas?

I started 3 more bottles last night, w are gifts and 1 is to replace the one i had to give away.

Just a heads up, the cost of true madagascar  vanilla beans has tripled because of the hurricanes that devistated their crops.

I do now that my louisana grills came with those instructions......let me know and ill send them to you.

there is no need to worry.  it is probably a unit from FT. Huachuca or a national guard unit doing a rotation thru the National Training Center just outside Barstow, CA.

Since you have an academy sports in your area, they sell B&B brand pellets which are supposed to be approved as one of the top brands.  Walmart may have them as well.  If they do, they should be about $11 for a 20lbs bag.

I mostly use hickory for just about everything, every once in a while i will use some apple when i do pork ribs.

the first chicken along with the backbones finished at about 4 hours, the other 2 chickens finished about 35 minutes apart after that. when all 3 chickens were picked clean, I got about 6.5lbs of meat put into 1lb bags and then into the freezer.

the turkey legs took about 3ish hrs.

the pork butt took about 9hrs, got shredded and delivered.

the meat loaf is not pictured, cause its in the fridge till tomorrow when I slice it up and put it in bags for future use.

all in all a good day and lots of meat got put into the freezer.

so tomorrow I am going to attempt a large cook with 4 different meats

1- about 7 lbs of meat loaf and a small little one for my 2 nephews that have strange food allergies

2- 3 spatchcock chickens to put in the freezer

3- an 8lb pork butt for the neighbor....when I gave him a taste of the last one I did, he messed himself and asked that I do one (he bought it) for him and his family the next I start the smoker

4- and 3 smoked turkey legs

I should be starting this early in the morning (depending on how late tonight gets)............ill post pics as we go!
