Another new guy from Texas
« on: June 15, 2015, 06:59:11 PM »
Hey guys,

I've been following these threads for a few years and finally made the move over here.  Like a lot of y'all, I'm prior service; Army.  Spent a few years welding when I got out. I mostly did portable stuff, carports, fences, barns, etc.  Never seemed to get much shop work, but I was always busy.  I still build some barns and do side work for people I know, but not near as much as I used too.  Currently I'm back in school and about 1/2 way done with a 3 year program here at TCU.  Hope all is well with everyone.

Thanks,

Logan

Welcome Logan!
I think a lot of us are backyard welders. So don't feel bad if you get some ugly.
There are a few spots on my bumper that are luckily on the inside under a 1/4" of undercoating.
Little bit of time back on it and everything cleans up.
Glad you're here!
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

Heh, I've never described myself as a professional welder.  I'm a pretty fair hand but not a pipeliner by any means.  Got some good memories of Bliss, Donna Anna actually.  Got to spend a few days out there when someones rifle walked off during a night qual.  Spent the next 3 days walking thru the desert looking for that thing.  Good times were had by all!!!  We've got a little land in Cloudcroft, not too far from El Paso, with a small off the grid cabin; good place to get away too.
