Some important Supreme Court cases coming up....
« on: December 30, 2015, 11:39:19 AM »
So this sort of ties into my thread about Obama...when my wife says "all is lost" I remind her of the number of cases that are making their way through the court system to push back against Obama's Executive Orders etc. I just saw this article from Drudge and it highlights some very important cases that are scheduled to be heard by the Supreme Court. While I wont make any predictions as to the outcome given their decision on Obamacare I do think they bear watching to see if the nation will be tipped back a bit toward freedom or continue its slide toward socialism....

Abortion- two regulations in TX are being looked at- One measure requires clinics to use only doctors with admitting privileges at a nearby hospital. A second requires abortion facilities to match the standards of an outpatient surgical center. These two measures would (according to the article- I don't know if that's accurate or not) shut down 3/4 of the Abortion clinics in TX.

Affirmative Action- This would prevent schools and universities from accepting students based solely on race or ethnicity.

Union Fees/Dues- This would eliminate the requirement that all public employees pay union dues in over 20 states.

Voting Districts- Currently congressional districts are drawn to cover "equal numbers of people". The challenge to this being considered is to change it to "equal numbers of eligible voters". The current version uses "all people" including children, immigrants,  prisoners etc.

Contraception- This is a group of challenges (all rolled into one case) arguing that the Obamacare requirement for contraception is still too onerous from a religious freedom perspective.

Immigration- This is the result of Obama's executive action stopping the deportation of illegals. Rulings in TX and the 5th Circuit in New Orleans stopped his action but Obama's attorney's are appealing.

It should make for some interesting news especially in light of the election.

Wilbur, I agree with your wife. We ain't voting our way out of this evil. With that said I do think our prayers will be answered sooner or later. So I'll keep praying.

For years, the left has defeated the will of the people through getting activist judges on various benches. If they can't win the battle of ideas at the ballot box they invalidate or legislate from the bench. That is why Obama put to radical leftists in the Supreme Court. Those are lifetime appointments and will harm us for years to come. Bush was too centrist in his choices and should have driven harder for conservative judges. Now we're stuck with Alito, and the two radicals, Kagen and Sotomayor

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.
