We officially hired another full time guy on the farm. A friend of mine was looking for a new job anyway so I brought him on part time for a while to feel things out. He is a good fit. I was apprehensive at first because you never mix business with friends. He had his own construction  business but got hurt a couple years ago and to take several months off.  Fell off a ladder.  After that he just coulden't make a go of it anymore. Its an adjustment for him. Hes use to being his own boss. Now he is the peon.

My boss is doing very well after his stroke but is nowhere near where he was and unfortunately I don't  think he will be again. He is  near 71 and deserves to slow down a little bit anyway.

Garth's music is OK.  He puts on a great show.  Much different criteria.

I'm more of a Trace Atkins, Toby Keith fan myself

I was told I had to get tickets for this event from the HH6.  It was not optional

And that is why you are a Real Man!  Well done; I just hope that venue served quality Bourbon to reward you for your valiance.
I'm slow, but I think I put something together here
That summer that you did the KY bourbon tour and stopped up at my farm...
That wasn't some historical tour of the rich history of the Tuck
No
It was a medical and logistical resupply mission...!
And
I'm good with that
I enjoyed every single drop of that bottle you gave me
A shot, in a glass mixed with: a bottle of root beer, a bit of cream, and some ice...Nice!

Yep some people started telling all stupid crap he was pulling and it really embarrassed him. He hasnt stayed in town late for weeks. He goes in for supper and is usually back home in an hour or so.

Yup, about due for another one!  Going to be bringing the youngest bird finder to South Central Ohio this summer to have him "collected" for future breeding as he's turning into something special!  Also have him studded out to a Vet in Indiana just across the river from Louisville, so I'm sure that I'll need to stop by again and stock-up in the process, .308 will need to stretch it's legs as well!

Cool!
Full range is up now
You and I can do some .308 shootin'
And you can take a turn or two on my bump-fire M4 since that will soon become something found only in museums,
And
Shoot the new .300 AAC

What’s the likely hood of the new perposed gun ban going through. Banning almost all semi weapons?  Banning is not confiscation ?

Watching the snow fall after being told this storm would hit two days ago.  It’s here and I am skeptical of how much it will actual put down.   Lord knows we need the water

Put DEF in the wife's suv.

Installed a exhaust fan in the master shower.  Its a large shower that has a glass door on each side but only about 6 inches open above each door, which means the hot humid air stays in the shower and is causing mold.  Replaced the can light with a fan that looks like a can light but air gets sucked around the light and out the hose.  Just have to cut a hole in the roof and install the roof jack vent.

Built a saddle stand for the back of my pick-up.  Don't have my own horse, but next best thing is climbing into my own saddle and knowing my feet will slide right into the stirrup without looking around for it.  Not owning my own means I usually get one that needs "training" so you always need to be paying attention.  Anyway, used up some cedar post parts left from my fence repairs, a large chunk of 2 x 12 from a deck build 10 years ago and a broken saddle rest from my Dog Trainer's trailer.  Now the saddle rides in the truck without bending the leather fenders etc. AND the Medical Kit rests perfectly underneath within easy reach.

Picture to be attached shortly:

It needs to exit the attic because of the moisture.  There are eave grills that could work but I already have the metal roof jack.

My butts have been outstanding but I ran into a former competition cook that told me to brine them for an hour and 1/2 first.  I may try it soon.

Nate, it is. We got a deal for two of those cast pans for around $25 delivered so I couldn’t pass it up.

Our butts have been great, was talking to Nate last time & I have been smoking at 225 but think I’m
gunna up the temp a bit this time. So this brine do you have any more info on it?

just a basic brine.  Osmotic pressure takes the salt and flavor down into the meat unlike anything else.

I just finished watching American Sniper again.  What a powerful movie.  I just find it hard to believe that a haji was making hits reliably at 1000 with a SVD

I recall watching a slow motion video of a psl being shot, the barrel whipping up and down.

Cousin (Romanian version I think versus China or Russian which is svd & whatever china version is called) to the svd, fires same 7.62 x 54 but there are some differences although can’t recall what they are at moment. I do believe the barrels are same thickness though read thin. I have even read where guys shortened the barrel to limit the whip. My experience as with a lot of ak actions the first few rounds are somewhat accurate & once they heat up they are all over the place.

I tend to agree with Charles though that it would be a stretch I think for one to make those hits at that range. I think both versions we see here in states were imported prior to Clinton banning the China Russian imports of them so maybe their quality has improved greatly since then? Then again maybe some of our guys here who spent time over seas since Clinton have better information. I seem to recall someone having a discussion about his buddy getting shot in the hind end by one at night on a base somewhere.

That kind of thing extends even into our military...

I may have been in a certain special ops unit

When during a party, a drinking party, one of our, err those pilots pulls out a Bretta 92F

He declares it is empty then proceeds to drill a hole through his foot in front of everyone...

I know this has been discussed here before, but best battery and where to get it?  For a 2014 half ton Chevy.  Slow to turn over Sat and a no go this morning.   Did a quick charge on the battery this morning, drive on to work and needed a jump start to leave the parking lot.  I need to make dinner so it is ready when my little girl gets home later, then will be off to get a battery.

Best with consideration to cost as well...I buy Interstate batteries from Costco...Good enough battery, great price

I sell Deka, only because I kicked Interstate out of my shop. Out of the 2, I prefer Interstate...the "6" series Dekas are almost as good. Their top of the line "7" series don't hold up to heat as well.

That kind of thing extends even into our military...

I may have been in a certain special ops unit

When during a party, a drinking party, one of our, err those pilots pulls out a Bretta 92F

He declares it is empty then proceeds to drill a hole through his foot in front of everyone...

Stupidity knows no bounds

I’ve shot enough with LEOs and others to know that professionals are often more dangerous than civilians.  I cut ties with my trainer after he failed to send a cop home for a negligent discharge.

We were doing a night shoot and we all checked each other’s weapons to make sure they were empty before running the evolution for the first time.  Between the first and second run the HPD guy next to me decides to switch rigs and out his drop leg on. Well it was not empty.  As we lit the target up with flashlight momentarily and then stepped right in the dark we were supposed to re-light and hear “click”. Next to me I heard “bang” fairly close to my head.  No bueno. I think that guy also had Cheeto crumbs in his duty holster.

Funny, we had several "discharges" when I worked but most were in the locker rooms. Checking a cleared weapon!!
