I know the ones around my parents come to the rabbit in distress at Mach speed.
I’m also not sure if there is any regs on them either…

Rare sighting of sparkys working, adding led strip lighting to light up the underside of the vehicles

about a week ago i knew they had 4 cases in the state, and one of those places was the costco farm there just outside of fremont. i havent heard any more about it in the news to know that it has gotten this bad?

does nebraska have a coyote season, or are they considered fair game like in south dakota?  does nebraska let you lure them in with a prerecorded coyote call....kind of like baiting them?
A friend of mine called the game Warden when he found a sick goose on his property. That info came straight from him. They didn't even come look at it. Just said to shoot it and bury it.

As luck would have it, I was at Scheels in Sioux City looking at calls and ran into 2 local boys that have been hunting in the area. They are going to set up shop in our field to see if they can help with our problem.

Yep, pretty cool stuff liquid proof even. My sparky buddy did it on his left like a year ago. I’ve been pestering him for sometime to do mine. It runs about $15 a foot for the material. It helps a lot, I’ll get better pics and post em up.

Thank for the kind words.
Technically the only thing that was done in those photos was the finally assembly of the gears. Axle had just come out of powder coat. So yes the floor was swept prior to bringing that in knowing full well I’d take pics and a short video.

Figured it was time to service my '12 GMC before the Idaho trip. The only oil I've changed in 90k is the engine oil, since going with amsoil when it was new.
This truck is always on the 200 horse tune unless heavy towing, and very few highway miles.

I've honestly never seen a transmission pan and filter this clean at that mileage,   especially with the way I drive. Very little clutch material and a small layer on the magnetic drain plug. Hopefully the diffs are similar.

Here is how my Wednesday ended

I came to a stop in the middle lane to turn across traffic to dump at our local concrete recycle place, first gear and ease the clutch out. Rumble rumble and SLAM! Zero forward motion and rollin down hill backwards!!! Nose into traffic so going backwards was ok as long as I could stop.

At this point I figured I blew up first gear. So I stopped mid lane with brakes, let’s try reverse to get my nose out of the oncoming traffic as my gap is gone and the light down the way is green again! No reverse either and rolling backwards again. Only to come to rest on my driveshaft which is under my driver side steer tire.

To preface this. I took my shop mechanic for a drive this am first thing. Truck had a very odd cattle guard crossing like vibration in every gear on acceleration under load below 1600rpm and it gets worse as the day goes on. So we loaded some 3” minus at the pit and headed to the jobsite and as it warmed up it repeated my previous day issue like clockwork and he at this point thought carrier bearing was going out and we would order one for install tomorrow. Well we now know what it was and what it will need. And it’s not a carrier bearing!

See those all the time laying on the roadside. Unis aren't that bad to replace. Looks like it was loose enough for rust to form before the bolt sheard.

Our guys used to twist the shafts off backing under trailers. I got real good at repairing on site with whatever tube you had (40 years ago).

Tonight I pulled a 12 foot boat across the ice.
Last night hauled 6 more bags of cement and random other odds and sods.
Up to and including a lawn mower and recliner…

I’m prepping up to spend breakup out there this spring. If it ever comes.
The plan is slowly solidifying.
All good with work as of this morning.
Should be a cool experience.

Had a spare set of rails for a rollback wrecker and realized the spacing was just right on my flat deck.
Just had to drill and tap 12 holes for 1/2" retaining bolts. I took the outer boards off to make it easier.

Also realized the track spacing on baby dozer is 34.5 inches.
The minimum spacing on the trailer ramps is 34.5 inches between them. Might need more practice before loading this thing.

Nice work Ken. I like that and thinking about building some drop in rails for mine. Unless your tracks are and inch wide i think you will be fine.

Well, Ken I like/love the 1911.

Was the first service pistol I carried in the Armee. Was a tanker back then and we all got 1911's. Well all but the loader. He got one of those clunky M3 grease guns also shooting a .45 from an open bolt. What a mess that thing was!
I still have a 1911 today and never since 1974 have I been without at least one.

The problem is the angle iron bars on the ramps are recessed, so if I miss, the tracks will be riding on just the 1/4" side plates. No bueno.

Gonna try pulling the hinges and moving the ramp ears to the inside.

Probably worried about nothing, but that's just what I do.

Ken, thought about laying some wood down those ramps so the track cleats aren’t tearing up the metal cross pieces. Wouldn’t have to move the ramps either.

If just a 1 time move why worry about it?

Otherwise, maybe something simple the tracks can dig into? But narrowing would do the trick too.

I wouldn’t worry about it either, the track will flex to the angle iron it’s not “that” ridged. The piece of 2x 10 would maybe work if it didn’t use the angle iron to break it up

What about a loading dock? Or make a dirt pile and just drive up that?

Depends on your time I guess

A few days ago when it was really windy a power line over at my nephew's place blew down and started a fire. He lost the barn. He lost a steer, a bunch of baby pot belly pigs and all his chickens. They were stuck in the house watching because of the live power lines on the ground.
We had a warm room set up in there to start our chicks so now I'm on the hunt for a new chicken coop. I think I am going to remodel the kids playhouse and use that. I was going to trash it because it's in pretty bad shape.  I checked it out this afternoon and I think it's save able.

Why not just drive the thing up the ramps and be done with it!

I'm not all that adverse to carnage

I see 34.5 on both and agree with the boss.
Drive er on up.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.
