Up to Maine for some beach time with the family. Restrung the surf casting poles for striper fishing, picked up some lures, grocery shopping that was a shocker (am I think only one that sees a food bill darn near triple for a week away? Yeesh!). Here for a week and looking forward to every darn second of it! :)

Yes this truck is for hire. We have 2 of them. The livestock market is in the dumper so we quit that and needed something to do so we started trucking on the side. We get $100 an hour per truck. Or say someone needs gravel or rock for a driveway or something its 17 cents per ton per mile. A full load is approximately 24 tons.

Wish you were here. I'd like to find that rate for hire.  Gravel is $16/ton yet they want $1600 to delver 26 tons.

I had a good weekend and managed to finally cross a lot of things off my to-do list.  Started by re-siding the dormers with the new siding to match the "new" addition on the house.  That job got started a couple weeks ago but took a lot longer than anticipated.  Also managed to finish wrapping the last of the 13 windows that needed to be done.  Also something that has been on the to-do list for almost a year now and been in progress for a few weeks.  Layed the last of the tile in the shower Sat afternoon.  I worked on that project for nearly two weeks after work.  I also would have finished up building the stair railing but the wife interrupted and though it was time to go to the hospital.  False alarm though and she was sent back home.

Got to the end of my cider making limit.
I'm up one pail from where I wanted to be, but oh well.
So that makes three pails for hard cider.

The bubbles are actually fermentation not foam.
Apparently apples are inherently prone for natural yeasts and the process has begun.
I'll still kick them in the butt with some wine yeast to harden it up a bit more effectively.

Sounds like a plan, will be a couple months till its done, and depending, I may mellow one for an extra couple.
Did a quick specific gravity check, and it's not as sweet as it needs to be, so I'll be adding some sugar to get up to around the 7-8% range. Current potential for only about 4% and I'd like a tad more.

But for best show times, got to get into December, yeah it will be cold, but it's dark forever...
And you get a better show from the ice where you can get out to see the sky in its entirety.

Not as far up as you, but I had to train guys up in the Alaska one year, but during the eternal daylight phase.

So I'm flying, then went for a run, a long run...Had my Moose standing on the track incident, then went out to eat, then hanging out with the guys up there then everyone starts crapping out, but the sun had not set yet. I checked the clock, and I can't remember the exact time, but I want to say it was like 3 AM, but that can't be right, but I know it was after midnight. My latitude was just up from Anchorage.

That sounds a little higher north than me actually.
During our leak daylight we get dim from around 2:30-3:30 and then light again.
So the 3:00 may be accurate, as it could have just began to get lighter at that point.

One year I went to the range at midnight on the solstice, and shot away for a while.
As much to say I did as for the therapy.

Well started the day at work. Then at lunch played what's that smell. Oh yeah the box of plums.

So split half of them and into the dehydrator they went.

Then my next oh yeah moment when I got home from work. I have to finish the chokecherry jelly. Juiced them a couple days ago then got tied up with apples.

Cooking it up and warming the pressure canner.

Pouring the pressure and heat to the jars.

And eight pints of chokecherry goodness.

Was the maiden run on the canner. Man where has this thing been all my life.
Thanks Nate and anyone else that raved about them, good money spent.

Up 05:00. Coffee. Unload oven for powder coating, change hitch on the bus. Take utility trailer full of junk to landfill. Stop by harbor freight and pick up abrasive blast cabinet and misc tools. Going to reorganize the shop and try to assemble the blast cabinet and get the oven working.

Finished wiring the outlets inside the garage, also an exterior outlet for misc & the motion security light for out near the shed. Then went to breaker box wired that run in & realized I'm one space short of wiring up this 220v electric heater for my garage. Decided the air compressor is gunna share with the heater. Now to the HD to return couple items that are wrong & pickup more supplies.

Now with an extra space in my shop panel I think the shed is going to get a light & couple outlets too.......

SOooooo, went to the HD & found an uber cool double pole breaker that that has a single 20 amp 120 on one side. The middle is a double pole 30 amp 220 followed up by another single 20 amp on that side so essentially 3 breakers in one. How cool, made things so simple......

Basically I took back two breakers which paid for the triple double breaker setup. I am very happy, garage is completely wired now with the exception of attaching wire to heater once it's mounted. Should finish up insulation & hanging osb on the walls early this coming week.

Ran and bought an old cast iron kitchen warmer... Basically a small cast iron stove. Some old guy's dad bought it, used it, and then it sat in storage for 33 years, it does have some rust holes in the sheet metal, so my friend looked at it and said he can fix it or make a new body for it. So we shall see what happens. I can't remember the name on it but the company started making them in 1880/90s and went out of business in 1950s, was made in Milwaukee. Cool little burner, mom wants it for her 3 season room she wants the deck converted into.

No pics... sorry.

Well started blasting a cast iron skillet and the door might as well not be on it. Dust is puffing out. Door is bowed and seal is not tight. And for that matter the little light they have with it is worthless. Time for upgrades.

Some leds and new gasket are next as well as a second air line teed to the first so I can have a air nozzle to blow parts off and blow dust off the glass befor opening the door.

Rofl....

Started with a 10.2 mile bike ride (my longest ride to date) working towards a 15 mile ride several times a week. Came home watered garden & washed off deck due to muddy dog. Made girls frozen fruit smoothies for breakfast. Then accompanied wife to main hospital to do her administrative rounding of newly admitted patients. No church today with her on call status.

Been awhile since posting as I've been so busy here lately with work as well as moving. Wife and I bought our first house a little less than a month ago. Been trying to get things situated and get settled and still have a long way to go. Also had to get the munchkin registered for school as she starts kindergarten. Man does time fly?!

For today it was finishing up making solar screens for the windows on the back of the house. (Well the windows I had material for.) That material can get expensive so I will have to wait until next paycheck to finish the rest of the windows.

Followed that up with taping off and starting the tedious and time consuming task of painting around the edges and windows in the garage. Painted the upstairs room a couple of days ago that is designated as my "man cave"/reloading room. Went with steel gray for the reloading room and garage. Will continue with the painting after dropping the kiddo off at school in the morning.

I know I know pics or it didn't happen...
Have to figure out how to post them using my phone as we do not have Internet service yet.

Imgur has an app

Congrats on the first house!  Lots of fun!

Tinypic also has an app
Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Congrats on the new house. One big step in life for sure.
Given time and resources you will make it 'yours'.

Started the day off with a hike into the woods to look for a birch stand we seen on google earth.
About a mile round trip through some nasty thick bush on the way in. So thick it was not looking good other than heli-logging. Found a better way on the hike out. I'll say it was well worth the trip. Probably enough firewood there for my lifetime.

Then started picking away at the honey do list for the cabin.
Finished installing the laminate.
Finished trim on gazebo.
Cleaned and finally braced the chimney.
Cut up old wood for mama to burn in the pit.
Somewhere in there I went and caught four nice walleye.
Ribeye and fresh potatoes and carrots for dinner.
And I know I'm missing a couple other trivial items from the list.

Now that I write it down, I understand why I feel tired.

I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

Shows the pics for me so I'm guessing I got it figured out.

Thanks for the heads up about the apps.
