This is a cool thread!

And not a closed one!

All you chickens ( ;-)  ) out there in guest land should do the real man thing, register and make yourself known, then join in right here.

I'm thinking of renaming this the "Fellowship thread" cause that's what it is, but one or several of my moderators would overrule me, change it back, then I'd fire them again, and then, have to apologize once again, so, heck with all that, I'll just ride along.

But I'm hangin' tough with the "Chicken comment!" You chickens git in there, show some and register! Then join in

Who knows, it just might be good for ya!

Koot I was worried about navigating the road to the hunting lease in 2wd with 2500 lbs of corn in the bed. It was a mud hole of calichi. Surprisingly these G2s self clean pretty well and I made it through with no problem. Quite pleased and can't wait to try 4wd

Finished pressure washing the house, knocked out 200 email from work since I've been off almost 2 weeks. Loads up and headed back to the weekend place. Working on sanding, priming and painting the new front driveshaft for the Bus. It stil freaks me out every time the press pops and parts break loose. Joints looked good on the inside but, thanks to El Tate, I have new spicer joints to put in.

Koot, which color for a drive shaft....hmmm

Looks like new. You going to check it for balance? (I don't know if that's needed? Just not sure with something older like that that been worked on to bring it back to life)

Won't be using it above 25mph more than likely. It was all original and in great shape so I don't expect problems. We shall see. With a lift and no cv joint there will likely be vibration above 25-30 mph.

Well today I hopefully changed my power steering hoses for the last time.
Funny how a new pump, regular power steering oil, and -40 kill hoses...

The local garage rebuilds them. He uses a swagelock style fitting to AN hydraulic connectors.

Then came home and made some loading blocks for the 45.
Had some scraps of UHMWPE kicking around from runner material for sleighs.

I like those lines. Never really been happy with my "1/2" aftermarket lines that have 3/8" in all the fittings? They don't leak, but I bet flow could be better.

Got a shed delivered....was going to build one but the cost was only about $800 more than what I would have paid for the materials...I liked that one. The only issue was where I wanted it the guy couldn't drop it just right. It was in the right spot but about 35 degrees off from the direction I wanted it to face.

The shed has 5 4x4's as runners under the whole thing. I threw some big lags in the ends of the 4x4's. Jacked up one end with the Hi-Lift, put a long 4x4 under the mounted ones then got some Sch 40 pvc pipe under the corner I needed to spin. Ran the come along to a tree and spun it on the center axis. Had to reset the chain for the come along a couple of times but it worked slick as hell.

Now I'm like a little kid putting stuff in there and figured out the layout. It will be a workspace as well as storage. I'll wire it for power and run a line off the house. I'll prob make that a plugged version so I just run power when I need it.

Wilbur, you know the rules. Pics or it didn't...........
Sam, I really like those hoses. I don't think that the temperature is the main culprit, because the aftermarket ones just plain suck! I'm getting between 1 and 4 years out of the ones I install.... I think they should go at least 4 years.

To be honest the old ones were likely due as they were in around the four years range. I'm hoping the genuine hydraulic hose lasts a lot better. I think the combination of all factors convinced them to fail. Age being one I had neglected. The OEM ones were less than a winter, I went to a NAPA or Piston Ring, don't remember. They were about half price and way better as it turned out. At least I had the foresight to keep the old ones to rebuild when the time came.

I replaced a drain in the master bath, you see a few months back I slipped and slid my heal into the existing drain, I bent the X that the drain plug screws into.  I was in injured but the tub hasn't held water since.

So I bought this nifty tool

Removed the damaged drain

Cleaned the area and installed the replacement ($14) and filled her up with water

An old memory said to put a drop of food color in the water after it settles and see if the color flows one direction towards a potential leak so to speak.  It appears to be a good seal

Came back from Reno last night. Hit Scheeles and Cabelas (should have driven up there for the AK)

Was a nice drive up, but bumper to bumper on the way home.

Found out late today Mom (79) was in the ER with congestive heart failure and we had a talk about telling me when, not after.

Took a side road near Donner, looked like this.

Been getting a lot of seat time. Ive only been able to get one load a day because the fields get muddy by the time I get back. Then Yesterday I didn't get anything done because parts of my trailer quit working. It would go up but not down. Suspension dump didnt work but the tag axle did. Thought it was ice in the system or other obstruction in the air lines.  Ended up just being the plug but took a couple hours of tracing wires and unplugging air lines to see if they worked. Maybe this afternoon I can get stuff done.

Had a lazy day today. 2 hours in the phone with norm. Then figuring out birthday gifts for some relatives and then an hour drive into town to get some parts to install my new bed cover and some misc supplies and then a stop by harbor freight to get a metal chop saw and some hex bit and torx bit sockets

Now working on a 4 tier log cabin fire with 24 inch oak sticks. Singed my eyebrows but the whiskey is helping.

Took the front driveshaft off the duramax. Got no more vibration in the front but there still a little in the back at 45 mph. Irritating the crap out of me. So much so that I stopped at a couple dealerships today.  I'm going to go look at a 2012 dodge with a Cummins next week. I hate to see it go but I'm tired of dumping money in this pig.

well folks, I have been absent for the most part lately, because of some pretty significant life changing/altering events have occurred, mostly for the better!

so where to start?  how about this!

I am now a Class A CDL holder with Class B&C, tankers, doubles, triples, City bus, School bus, Cement mixer, Dump truck, Fire truck, Hazmat, forklift, ETC endorsements and certifications. thank you to all of you who have paid your taxes and made it possible for me to use $15k of my G. I. Bill.  now the Ironic/funny part!  the day I graduated, I turned right around and had a conversation with the president of the school and was offered a position as an instructor.  so I am now responsible for training people of all different back grounds (and believe you me there are some weirdo's out there) on how to become Truck drivers.  on top of that, the school that I now work for has just signed an 8 year multi million dollar contract with the US Army to train transitioning Soldiers thru tuition assistance on how to become truck drivers.

next, I have started the process of separating myself from the individuals in my life that were not conducive to good order and discipline.  ill just leave that one alone for now.

next, I have picked up a few things that I will test out for a while before I put up a full review in their perspective sections.  here is just a quick glimpse.

first is an alien gear IWB holster for my springfield sub compact XD 40

next is a pair of S&W Bodyguard .380 autos, 2 extra mags and a box each of hornaday critical defense 90 grn hollow points and federal HST 99 grn jhp rounds and 2 boxes of UMC FMJ target rounds (still undecided on which will be the permanent rounds.

and lastly is a kitchenaid burr grinder that I found on my door step one afternoon along with a BRC 20oz titanium coffee mug and a bag of their really strong coffee....lol

Congrads Nate. Looks like you have your hands full.

Kinda wish the 40 was out when I got my XDS. Watch the ejections, they came straight back sometimes.
