Had metal valve steams put in to the trailer rims, then started the break down and packing of trailer with household goods.

Got to do my cooler too. Was up near ice house last weekend and it got to 220* with just camping gear in back. Not pushing it at all although it was around 100*. Cools fast, but to hot for just driving!

Took the camper to the park yesterday for Labor day weekend. Decided to stay here with it over night. We have had some problems with kids around here. So 3 yearld Jasper and I stayed here. Brought my cooker down for the weekend. Its only taken 2 years to build it. Finally going to get some meat on it Saturday.

Well finally was able to make it home from work yesterday afternoon due to Harvey. Had been there since Sunday morning. Wife and daughter were home alone through the whole thing. We didn't have any water damage, closest water came was about 4 ft from the garage so it was getting close. Only spent 36 hours approximately without power. Fortunately everything in the freezer stayed frozen. Unfortunately my daughters birthday was Tuesday si I wasn't able to be with her on her b-day.

There are houses only a mile or so down the road that are flooded as well as many of the streets.

I just thank God that he kept my family and home safe through the storm.

I'm in Anahuac on the east side of Trinity bay about 1/4 mile from the bay. Work in La Porte off of independence pkwy. We got 55" of rain at the plant.

You are correct in that the pictures definitely do not do justice. It will be a long time before lives are back to normal for many folks.

Glad you and the family are safe.

I tell you something that is pleasing to see, people helping people. People from all races, religions, political affiliations, backgrounds, etc. helping others. Shows the true USA as opposed to the BS we see on the media all the time.

Fleas, yeah, bombing run needed.

I'm down south, heading for the national shoot again.
Missed tryouts, work, why do we need it...
But was asked my intentions to go, so my track record speaks for me.

Glad to hear your plan worked Charles, and look forward to the AAR.
55" is a ton of rain, might even fall into the Metric S... Ton category.

So I've been in the city for the past two days...
Been doing some people watching...
MOUTH BREATHERS...they're everywhere.
I'll bet it was 50-60% or maybe better depending on scene.
Reminded me why I dislike this place so much.
That and the stupid that call themselves drivers...

Signals are apparently an unchosen option on a lot of the city vehicles...

One is a traverse I am going to look at this Am and the other is a escalade I really like that is a hybrid.  But me and a friend disagree on the motor it should have in it. http://www.johnwatsonchevrolet.com/VehicleDetails/used-2007-Cadillac-Escalade-AWD_4dr-Ogden-UT/3056763923#close

https://www.ksl.com/auto/listing/4005707

The wife likes the traverse a bit more.  I like that I can tow with the Cadillac if needed

Hybrid escalade with 6.2L... kind of ironic. I believe all Escalades have the 6.2 though, which motor do u think it should have? I think the yukon hybrid of years past had the 5.3L.

I turned 40 today, can't believe I'm saying that......

Rode my mountain bike a little over 22 miles this morning and having left over sesame chicken for breakfast now. No beer to go with it so can't say it's technically the breakfast of champions. Beer will come later today and maybe some good bourbon to wash it all down.

Welcome to the second half of adulthood, now you know the rules, the penalties for infractions and you get down to enjoying the game and all it's subtleties!  Being a veteran now, you get to offer insight to "rookies" and don't intimidate the "old timers" so much!  Beer and Bourbon are good, especially since you know how much is appropriate for a given circumstance so you no longer waste it, allowing you body to enjoy and fully process it before it leaves you.

I'm about to saunter off to the deck and lift some Makers46 in your honor......then go back to assembling my inversion table.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHAWN!

700? Hell if mine was at 700 it would be thirty mph.  I usually am 900

40 is my next big milestone I hope to have school finished and the 9 year old able to clean the bathroom on his own

I think the yukon and Tahoe hybrids had a 6.0
And it was a weird one. Had some very high compression ratio numbers. was a bit of a hot rod. I drove one for a bit. Was considering it for the wife, but they are so heavy and that battery, when it goes will cost as much as a decent used vehicle

I thought the 6.0 GM hybrids just used things like cylinder selection and shut off at stop signs and such. Little research says it has 2 elec motors and uses a battery around town up to 30mph.

Yep, battery tech is there, but not the price!

Shawn, happy birthday brother. I lifted a glass to you and all my texas friends today. My team descended en mass on one of my team members homes who was flooded. We demod everything up to 4ft. Plus all the baths and showers.

My God I am grateful we were spared.  That entire neighborhood was wiped out. You couldn't even navigate the streets with all the vehicles that were at neighbors homes piling furniture and debris. I'm talking massive 30x30x10ft piles of crap. The smell was like a bait shop without refrigeration in July.

There was a Texas sized helping of Git-R-Dun today

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Where are the photos Tex?   I am curious of the damage,

From what I have understood the 09 had a different hybrid feature that used a battery for a portion of mph 1-25 and than kicked on the fuel.  Depending on motors as JR was taking GM had a shut down some cylinders that caused some oil burning which was a bad deal.  Motor that has that issue was the 5.3, 6.0,  the GMC version and Cadillac had the 6.2 which didn't have that as an option to my knowledge.

I passed on the traverse as it made some growling noise in first gear. And needed new tires and the owner didn't want to come off his price even a little

The caddie is still at the dealership and is a very clean rig but I think with the looming home purchase I will wait and see if something better comes my way.  Trying to stay closer to 15k not 20k.

Sounds like a heck of a mess Charles.
I'm really glad to see 'Americans' helping 'Americans' regardless of colour, race or creed.
Definitely a good shot in the arm in this devastating situation.

God bless all of you through this.

You have to have deap pockets to have an Escalade hybrid imo. All wheel drive issues, afm issues, roller lifter issues, $600 shocks, and everything associated with the hybrid system is mucho pricey.
.. I believe they switched from the 6.0 to the 6.2 in late 06 iirc...400 hp all aluminum
