Crazy town: Fuel injection or Carb?
« on: December 18, 2018, 11:50:43 AM »
Ya know, I am at a crossroads

I could stay on track, buy the TBSS intake ($250), adapt the fuel rail ($50), get a 90mm TB($250) buy the adapter cable ($250)
Procure 36 pph injectors ($175), Get some tuning ($200+ $600) and maybe some more tuning (???) and get this thing going

or

I could buy an edelbrock intake and carb and MSD timing thingahmulator and also be done with it with no need for future tuning. ($1000) Hmmm...

I used to love tuning carbs, but not with the advancements in modern injection.  Do yourself a favor and stay with the injection track.  Plus your fuel mileage will take a nose dive.

That is the question.

The new vehicle I'd agree with TRN. If it was an older model that was close that the carb era then I'd say stay carb. But I'm not the one wrenching on it and/or opening the wallet.

EFI, high temp, muggy, wet, high alt or low it will always run its best.

Before you get big injectors talk to me. I have a new take off set but I just the new intake with 5.7 so I may not need them.

Yea, had so much feedback on the plus side for keeping the architecture fuel injected...

That's what I'll do. But if I ever add one of these motors to an older chassis, I'll use a carb.

Don you probably know this but Dorman makes a replacement for the TBSS that performs the same and is a little lower profile

I saw that Tex

But talking to the cam guy, he recommends against a TBSS for my heavy Suburban. He thinks the truck intake and 78mm TB (Stock) will keep velocities up for better everything in my application.
