Steroids and Canadian Pharmacies
« on: October 11, 2014, 09:08:42 AM »
Just putting this out there, but shouldn't we consider stocking up on behind the counter drugs as well as the over the counter stuff?

With my recent knee surgery, My progress was slow until I got some predesome in me. Days after that I am healing like crazy, albeit while breaking out (Side effect?)

I am now going to include a bottle of those gems in my "Tier-2" Medical kit. You know, not bug out size, but better stocked hide site sized. So one in America just can't go buy the stuff anywhere, but in anywhere else, planet earth you could. With the Canadian pharmacies advertising on my browser for Viagra every 15 minutes, would/couldn't/t they sell something useful just as easily?

I never considered them, but are meds like antibiotics, steroids, and pain killers available from them through the magic of the mail? Is that legal to purchase?

Can someone read in of some experience, sources, factual info or the like?

I'm not an authority, and probably shouldn't be answering, but from what I remember, my parents were able to bring a certain amount of 222's over the border from british Columbia, (Tylenol w/ codeine). Might be the same for other drugs; certain amounts allowed at a time etc.

predesome = Prednisone

Treats inflammation (swelling), severe allergies, complications of chronic illnesses, and other medical problems. Also used to decrease some symptoms of cancer. This medicine is a steroid.

I was reading an article at work, and it was talking about how you can order Viagra or whatnot from those pharmacies, but you might not be getting legit products. They had side by side comparison between actual items and the knockoffs that are passed off as real. Now, I'm not saying all the pharmacies aren't keeping it real, but you never know, until it's too late.

I get scripts from my Vet for my Doggy Triage kit- 250mg Amoxicillin 500 at a crack.  I keep this on hand along with surgical stapler - EASY to use as I've had the Vet examine my dogs and hardly able to find where; first use was 11 in one dogs chest after tearing on barbed wire.  Vet couldn't believe how well it was done.

Just used it last weekend in Iowa for the other dog- front shoulder and under chest.  Didn't find wounds until 6 hours later- scrubbed with saline and gauze until cleaned and bleeding - staples and Amoxicillin and next morning they'd almost completely sealed and well on its way to healing.

I have actually stapled a friends arm- self inflicted stab wound to the bicep with a spey blade on his new pocket knife.  After Kentucky Bourbon taken internally and externally, put in 3 without Novocain - jumped a bit the first one, not on last two.  Healed great in a week, took out staples 7 days later.

Highly recommend one for everyone's emergency kit.  Sold in KV Vet Supply Catalogue along with many other supplies who don't know you're not using them on a Dog/Pet!

Blaine's Fleet & Farm, Farm & Fleet sell all kinds of stuff for treating animals.  Needles for Goats etc. salves and topicals.   Dymethyl Sulfoxide (DMSO) which is a transdermal topical that will carry things mixed in it immediately into the circulatory system- useful for drawing out foreign bodies like thorns mixed with Epsom Salt and a sulfa salve used on horses when applied under a wrap/bandage.

Thanks for the tip.  I just ordered up some staplers, IV kits, ans assorted stuff.

As for the steroids, Don.  Go lightly there.  I've been on steroid therapy before and for longer than average.

Breaking out, weight gain, Fatty deposits on the back of  the neck, increased blood pressure, hardening of the arteries, and in some cases steroid induced psychosis are all side effects.  And if you take a bunch and don't taper the dose off (e.g. stop cold turkey) it can kill you by flooding the tissue around your heart with fluid.

I had a few of the symptions like breaking out, weight gain, psychosis.  I literally wanted to kill some people.  Oh and an insane desire for chocolate.

I am on the search for legitimate sources of behind the counter stuff.  Mail order is tough to trust.   Fortunately I am close to Mexico and also have a few doctor buddies but I'm not sure I can trust them enough to ask them for some supplies.  Plus all that stuff has a shelf life.

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

When my wife and I went to Thailand for our honeymoon, my uncle who is a doc made us a nice little kit... 2-3 different antibiotics, some pres. antidiarrhea meds,l some anti-nausea meds (zofran), some flexoril, and some mild narc pain meds. Shouldn't be too much to ask of a doc to make you a kit for your "travels". Didn't use any of them, now they're in a nice little med kit.

Like tex mentioned, a bunch of that stuff has a shelf life, like antibiotics.

This is one guy that seems to know a bunch more than myself (razadp):
