Saw this on Facebook, supposedly no problems, runs good and had a recent tuneup/oil change. I could probably push over a few trees and move a little bit of dirt with it. Asking$3500.

Scout campout this weekend. It was cold and windy but we survived. Putting the fire in front of my shelter seemed like a great idea but the wind was just right it blew all the smoke right in.

Mother-in-law had a breast cancer lump removed yesterday. She is doing well. Please add her to your prayers that it doesn't come back. I have to say I amazed at the things doctors can do now. I would never have thought this was an outpatient procedure. I took her to the hospital in the morning and we were home by supper time.

Spent the past 3 days at woodbage. It's leader traing for Boy Scouts. Pretty intense I have 2 more days in a few weeks. I really learned a lot and made some new friends. To pass the course I gave to make and achieve 5 goals in the troop with an 18 month deadline. I got 2 approved by council with 3 to go.

That’s awesome Charles  :likebutton:

The wife and I are in Co Springs staying at The Lodge at Flying Horse for the evening. Getting away from the daily chaos at home currently. We had dinner at their steakhouse on property and we had our first wagyu steak which was like butter. I ate too much but I think that’s the point.
American or Japanese wagyu?

Went to this store in Sioux City. Its in the old Shopco by the mall. I forgot what it's called but they have probably 50-75 bins of junk. Looks to me like it's all the crap people bought on line and returned. Lots of Amazon packages. I found everything from food items to a master cylinder for an old Chevy and quite a few electronics and lots of clothing. Every Saturday they bring in new bins $10 an item. By Friday they are picked over pretty good but it's 90% off.

A few days ago when it was really windy a power line over at my nephew's place blew down and started a fire. He lost the barn. He lost a steer, a bunch of baby pot belly pigs and all his chickens. They were stuck in the house watching because of the live power lines on the ground.
We had a warm room set up in there to start our chicks so now I'm on the hunt for a new chicken coop. I think I am going to remodel the kids playhouse and use that. I was going to trash it because it's in pretty bad shape.  I checked it out this afternoon and I think it's save able.

Dang jon, that sucks and hopefully everybody is ok.  If you or anybody up there needs some assistance, you know how to get a hold of me.

Everyone is good thanks.

I haven't either. Probably just a matter of time. I check and double check and then check again if they are unloaded before they go in the house.

My dad had one fire on him. I was 16 and trying to show him how to unload a revolver, but he knows everything. Ended up with a .22 in the ceiling. Mom and I both chewed him out.

about a week ago i knew they had 4 cases in the state, and one of those places was the costco farm there just outside of fremont. i havent heard any more about it in the news to know that it has gotten this bad?

does nebraska have a coyote season, or are they considered fair game like in south dakota?  does nebraska let you lure them in with a prerecorded coyote call....kind of like baiting them?
A friend of mine called the game Warden when he found a sick goose on his property. That info came straight from him. They didn't even come look at it. Just said to shoot it and bury it.

A couple days ago my nephew's dogs got attacked by coyotes. One torn to shreds and the other severely injured. He only lives 2/3 mile from the farm as the crow flies. He has killed 2 foxes right in his yard recently. But as soon as they coyotes see a light they scatter. all you see is eyes and then they are gone.  They are getting pretty desperate out here. Every few years there is a cycle. We have tons of rabbits then tons of predators. They eat all the rabbits then the predators die off. Last harvest I didn't see near as many rabbits as the years past. Beside that threat I now have a skunk under my front porch and possum under my back porch. I caught one of the possums living under the chicken coop. It's had to trap them because I keep catching the dang stupid cats! If the coyotes are moving in that close to James's place, then I know they are here too. I am suspecting that is one reason the wildlife is moving in closer as well as the fact we haven't had a dog all winter. Speaking of dogs, we went and picked out our puppy last night. He gets to come home in 3 weeks.

I am going to order some more chickens, so I am going to make darn sure my coops are more predator resistant. I am worried about this bird flu going around. The state of Nebraska has stopped testing birds because there are so many cases if it looks like a bird has it then they assume it does.

It just dawned on me as I'm typing this. Maybe the coyotes are chasing the fox. That is why so many have been on his place just ahead of the of coyotes. If they would get a dog, they will tear into a fox.

If opened ground beef, stew meat and it all looked good, tasted good also.

Stuck in that rock and hard place, meat prices are going nutz. The ground beef at the two local stores is at $5.99 a pound. I also don’t want to alienate my employer over the price. I’m thinking $350 a pound for ground beef, a few roasts and some steaks out of it

There is no way that's a military tent.  It may be based on one but it's just nylon like a wally world tent. Directions were in french so no doubt imported.
Nate, I've gotten enough experience winter camping now that I am going to challenge myself to just use a tarp to keep the frost and dew off. It would make getting up to pee lots easier.

Went on a little campout with the Nebraska preparedness network. No scouts on this one. I tried out my pup tent. It's a french troop tent from Coleman's military surplus. Reviews were really bad but this one  appears to be brand new. No problems except the vents that I can't shut off. This is a 3 season tent as best. No bueno for cold weather. The little pond I was next to made 27 degrees feel way colder.

I ordered some new jugs to improve my water storage they're about $20 a piece They stack and lock together neatly. I have some larger 7 gallon blue cans but they don't stack well and are too heavy for my wife and kids to handle them. These are 3 gallons and heavier plastic.

We basically just hung out and visited. We trade gear and more importantly share knowledge. We all have strengths and weaknesses. We help each other get stronger. It's always interesting meeting new people from all over the state.

That is where I ended up getting my cable. I asked the owner of the local napa store if he carried tinned copper 4/0 ends and he said yes. So, I said fine I will get my cable online because I don't need 50 ft and come back for ends. Turns out he didn't really have them. All he had was a hand full of 3/0 full copper.

Last summer I upgraded batteries from lead acid to AGM. I got them used from a friend that upgraded to lithium. We swapped them out in the campground out in Idaho. They are used but have a couple years left in them. They are mismatched but they are the same size and style. one is a year older than the other. I basically paid core price. When these are done I will go to lithium.
When we did the swap we basically just threw it all together. I bought an inverter from another guy that had upgraded his to a bigger one. We had no fuses or anything. It meant to be temporary.
The battery box in these campers are so flimsy frankly I am amazed I made it home. These batteries are so heavy I can't pick one up myself.  The floor pan is just tack welded in with 2 bolts that are only there for the spare tire carrier. One tack weld is burned through and holds nothing. I drilled a few holes and added some bolts.
For the bottom I used 2 2x8 boards full length. They sit on the actual frame on both sides. Then I ripped a 1x10 in half and put that on the back  and front side to add rigidity. I have boards screwed down around each battery to keep them from sliding around.
I used scrap from the 2x8 to make a switch panel to install the fuse link and kill switch.
The inverter is a Xantrex freedom 1800. It is actually an inverter charger mounted to the ceiling in the luggage compartment. It will be used to run a second fridge and I want to hook it into a couple outlets in the camper itself.
To connect it all together I used the blue sea systems kill switch, Xantrex 300 amp fuse holder and a Victron smart shunt. 4/0 welding cable all around. It's not quite done. I should button it up by the end of the day today.
I took a chance on a cheap Chinese hydraulic crimper to make the cables. So far so good.

Redoing the battery box in my camper. Forget trying to source things locally. Oh you need some 4/0 welding cable? Ok You have to buy 50 ft at a time. Cable ends $2.50 online. I should have ordered them because I drove to five stores in two different towns to get what I needed. One store they were $5 another store they were $8. For the exact same thing.
My Chinese hydraulic crimper seems to be working pretty well. I'll have more on this little project later. This is what the battery box looked like before.
Had to buy a new trouble light. I really kind of like this thing. It better be good for $80.

Went to Omaha yesterday for some shopping and hang out with the wife. Stopped off at Duluth Trading. I really like the fire hose pants. Anyway, the store I visit in Sioux Falls SD is really laid back and always packed with good people. But it looks like the Omaha store went woke. I won't go back to that one again. Mask Nazis with their pronouns on the name tags. It was pretty busy but nothing like the other store especially for a Saturday afternoon.

After that we stopped off at a small record store. I walked in and got the usual hi how are you stuff then the gal asked if I wanted a free beer. I must have had a puzzled look she's like yea here have a beer while you browse. Got me a can of some local brew. Not too bad either. I bought the ZZ Top Eliminator album and an old Richard Pryer record.

Ours yanks around my little three rail motorcross trailer with two bikes on it east but you are correct. Homedepot runs and a 6x6 enclosed with balloons in it are about it.   But it’s still an option lol

I was at a camper dealer and this lady kept referring to her traverse as a truck. It was hard not laugh. I know mine wouldn't hardly pull a loaded lawnmower trailer. In all fairness the ramp gate was like a parachute.

All kidding aside the new traverse is real nice vehicle.  I can only imagine how sweet a ride the Caddie version is. God job boss!

Ephesians 6:12-18

12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people

Had to cut the campout short. 7 degrees with -5 windchill. 2 of the boys didn't pack properly and got dangerously cold before I realized it. t-shirt light jacket and kakis. The other one at least had insulated bibs but nothing but a t-shirt under them. We had meeting on how to dress and everyone made a packing list that I approved but they didn't stick to it. At least they brought the proper bedding. Everyone said they were toasty warm overnight.

Too cold to haul rock. They are out of dry only have washed and that likes to freeze in the trailer. So, spend the day in the shop working on the toter.
Had to install a new carrier bearing bracket to correct drive line angle issues. The new bracket came bent and slotted holes. I had cut to the proper length and drill the 3 mounting holes.
After that was done I realized that the angles we achieved will be wrong once the suspension is aired up. Dummy. Well I guess I shouldn't say they will be wrong but they will change from what they are with the air bags deflated. Should be in spec. The front 2 drives shafts we're at the same angle. That is no good as it doesn't let the u joint work. It sits there straight and I guess they don't like that.
When that was done I put 2 layers of kilmat noise dampener in the door. It sounds really solid now. Like a regular car door closing. I just need to find a new interior door panel the door handle won't work because the tabs that hold it in are broke. $200 for used $400 for new. Still deciding which way to go.
Tomorrow we go in a Boy Scout winter campout. We had to skip the last meeting due to covid in our house so all the planning was made through group text chats. Should be interesting.

Took the interior panel off the Freightliner. It was broken and the door handle wouldn't work. I thought I could fix it but pieces were missing. So I have to order a new one or find used that's not broke. I did order some sound deadening material to stick to the door before it goes back together. This door is literally just a thin skin attached to a frame with a plastic panel screwed to the inside. Zero insulation.
