Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Not sure if the wife took one of me but I tested it out.  I have video of her and she was grinning ear to ear.  Girls said, "mommy you like a little kid with that smile on your face!"

Nice swing! Kids will be loving that for sure.

I did yard crap all day.....moved out our old hot tub...new one sitting on the trailer just waiting to put it in....I'm building a pedestal of sorta for it so if the patio settles or shifts I can adjust it. Getting the old one out was......interesting. ha. Hi-Lift, furniture dollies, pulling with the yukon, all the fun stuff ....but it's on its end waiting to be gone. Did all sorts of other "stuff".....ran the generator, got the snowblower put away with Stabil (hope I'm not jinxing myself! Yeesh!), charged some tools, yada yada yada.....

Time to upgrade the health insurance and homeowners policies

Ha! No kidding!  I have 2M in excess liability so I think I'm covered.  Now had they seen me in my climbing rig, they might have decided to cancel my policy....

Yesterday I used a single foot loop on a prusik knot to climb.  it was tedious and arduous.  Today I used my Petzel ascender with a dual foot loop and did the sit and stand method and it worked much much better.

I'm still not settled on wether to use a single rope technique or a dual rope and pulley like I had today.

I have a rope with a pulley on a figure 8 on a bight that I have over the crotch of the tree and a rope through the pulley with the working end anchored to my Petzel zig zag with a carabiner and the running end through the pulley and through the zig zag.  Then my ascender above on the running side.

It worked great for ascending but I'm still working the descending rate using the zig zag.  Im a bit herky jerky with it and not a smooth descent.

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Gave new life today to an old drill press my dad gave me. It was pretty rusty and dirty. Took it all apart, cleaned off all the gunk, and sanded off the rust. The post, table, chuck, and base were really rusty. Got it all cleaned up and coated the table with paste wax, and the other metal parts with some oil.

Turned out pretty good for a couple hours work.

After searching for the right ones.  I found them.

http://www.roughcountry.com/2-inch-led-square-flush-mount-lights-70803.html

The harness is waaaay to short for rear bumper install but add some 14ga wire and its done.  Very good and solid mod IMO.

Might want to change out the drive belt if it hasn't been already. I picked one up just about like that from my wife's Dad years ago.

Very nice Dawg, I have a Craftsman upright band saw my father gave me.  As a child I can fondly remember the smell of fresh cut wood in the basement workshop.  The machine is 35 yrs old.  Still works like a Champ.

I set up my brooder box yesterday and turned on the heat lamp. Have to check the temps a few times during the day to see if its ok to move my chicks out of the house. They are growing fast and they are more crowded than I like.

Nice work on the RR. Very little from my pops as I am the tool guy. I did a little RR on a Wabeco CNC Mill that was caught in a fire sometime back.

Nice work on the coon, reminds me I need to sight my new 22 airgun in for just that reason. Cats go nuts as they coming right up to the back door for the food.

I really recommend the leg hold trap, and then you wont have to sight anything in.  You are still going to need to be real close for that 22 pellet to do the job

900 fps should do the job just 25ft away or so. I have a live trap but sure the wife would go crazy if I did that and killed it. Plus the cats don't get hung up and they are not all mine, but a few missing would not be a bad idea.

that's why you use these  https://www.amazon.com/Duke-DUKE-DP-Coon-Trap/dp/B005KW3AY6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1488238368&sr=8-2&keywords=coon+traps    Cats, dogs, or other critters wont get caught these are a really good design just for coons, if the coons are urban then it might be a bit much for a 22 air gun, you are going to have to be much closer, trust me I shot one from 10ft away with a 22 and it just pissed it off!!!!!!

No plans on eating it, not even a burial.

Kids were complaining the shower was draining slow (same for the garage sink) and I found this hiding in the pipes.

Found a goose egg in the middle of the floor in the barn. Supprised it wasn't in the nest so I fried it for supper. That and a few duck eggs. Thats a goose egg in a 10 inch skillet.

The brooder didn't quite work out. It was only 60 degrees directly under the heat lamp. Its too cold out. It was In the teens over night. I better wait another week before I move them out.

They taste different. Its hard to explain. Bigger thicker youlk for one thing. One of the boys said it tasted funny and didn't like it but then finished it. My home raised chicken eggs taste different than store bought. They have a thicker youlk also.

While I'm not Jon,

Duck, goose, and turkey eggs seem to bake better than chicken eggs. We've had duck and turkey and enjoy both.

The one big kicker about farm fresh, which you probably know is they are healthier. Basically more of all the goodness that is in an egg. Saw a study once that compared the two and it was pretty incredible how big the difference was. Will see if I can find it.

A big portion of the difference is that farm fresh eggs tend to be, well, fresh. Store bought eggs can be up to 60 days old by the time they are bought. They have thirty days after they are laid to get them packaged, then thirty days for them to be sold. And that's if everyone is being honest, which we all know everyone is. /sarcasm

I for one like me some fresh eggs from some happy chickens.

Dave this is a great point. We've got a friend here who is USDA certified to sell her eggs and run her farm as a business. Well one day inspector was over and they got to talkin' about how she had lots of eggs. The situation was that she was not able to sell all of them so she had a large backlog if you will. Inspector said, well you obviously know you have 60 days to sell them.........however did you know that if they don't sell in that time they can be brought back to the farm rewashed and are acceptable for up to another 30 days.....

Dave thanks for pointing this out!

Freshness does make a difference but the biggest one is nutrition.  Your laying hens are probably eating much better food with much higher nutritional value.  That better nutrition goes directly into the eggs.  You can see the difference.  Just compare the bright color of the yolk to the pale color of a store bought egg.

I've been putzing around in the shop. Welded some handles on the lids on the cooker. Made up my mind I want a front receiver on my pickup to haul the canoe. I'm way over length pulling the trailer behind my 5th wheel. Something like this but with a headache rack instead of the roof rack.

yesterday i salvaged about 40 feet of hardware cloth and enough 2x4's from a busted up rabbit hutch that our friends gave us. The hutch was damaged during the tornados and they were going to just burn it.

HOLD ON THERE PARTNA! that hardware cloth is expensive and in good shape. Gimmedats!

Now i can build about 6 salad tables... at no cost.

Tornado just went by my house. House only took superficial damage. But it tire my shrub bushes right of the ground! I had a pile of brush stacked up against my truck which was the remains of some of my landscaping. Pics later. Still no power. Working off the cell phone
