So my wife and I are in the market for a used UTV for the property. I am browsing craiglists and find a nice machine. I txt.

The guy txt's back like a used car salesman... avid hunter blah blah blah.
I asked if interested in trade (guns, etc). We start talking calibers.
He's 2 hours from me as i need to drive through that hell hole call austin. So obviously i know the geography of the area.
He txts me an hour later and says:

"google says you're a scam!"
"to bad i could not have met you in person!" (was this a threat)?

i responded back with a "you got me mistaken".

"get cash or no deal. google you and said its a scam"

... the internet doesn't lie!!!!

he then calls me and tells me that i am a scammer and google tells him i demand to pay with money orders and i then send couriers to get the item.

Never once did i mention payment...

Told him what i thought of him and his item for sale and what he could do with it.

I've been called a lot of things over the years, but never that!

I suspect he might be from Nigeria, or one of the old east-commie block places.

no, on the phone he sounded like an older guy with the texas accent.

i googled my phone # (which was the only thing he had) and could not find where i was labeled a scammer.

you would be very surprised of how adaptive they have become, they learn and if by the off chance they succeed in getting your money they are way ahead

Back up, homoslist is for dates only. If you're selling something no one has any money and they want to trade for a date. If you want buy an item they still want a date out of the deal.

Now you know & as they say knowing is half the battle or in your case 100%

no scam artist knows the ballistics of the 6.5 creedmoor.

im sure if i did show up at his place with my trailer and cash, he'd either still get in my face (which would get ugly real fast) or feel real stupid.

And it's not worth spending 4 hrs of your fuel (round trip) to find out. I'm guessing he's a scammed and demands payment in travellers checks or aomething and then says delivery has to be on such and such a date bc he needs a new title or some such nonsense.

Funny story, Stewie. I've got a few things for sale on CL and I'm amazed at the stupidity level.

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

You and me both. I gave up trying to sell a 24v cummins because of all of the idiots. " yeah, I want it, can you bring it by so I can look at it? Oh, and I'll have the money at the end of the week"   smh

ken, they probably heard about the bumper sticker & figure it was par for the course. Or they wanted you to come over for a date & being your big motor with you.
