My weekend in a nutshell...

Picked up excavator - took out a tree at my inlaws.

20170916_150501 by Ryan Parlee, on Flickr

Took it home.

20170916_155636 by Ryan Parlee, on Flickr

Removed post so i could get it in back yard.

Stump #2 out

Thing probably weighed close to a thousand pounds. Made the truck squat a bit.

And one with my oldest daughter (8).

21786240_830783020431386_7825805269467660288_n by Ryan Parlee, on Flickr

And finally, one with the youngest (3.5) - with a little help at the controls from me.

Finally - the aftermath.  Only busted one irrigation pipe -- that for some reason doubles back toward the valve for some unknown reason... oh well, that zone is probably coming out anyway.

Its fun running them little things. Takes a little but to figure out what you can and cant do. If you can get one with a little dozer blade on the front they are awesome.

Lots of uses for a mini x for a guy who knows how to run one. It's really neat that y'all have your kids involved.

After chasing fuses and relays in the rain last night. I called and dropped the D at the dealership.  They were able to Hotwire the seat to move it forward and see the wire harnesses.  Found multiple wires had cracked sleeve and repaired.  Seat and heaters work fine now. Only $300 to fix. Ouch!!!

But school and work and kids will go on and I have little to no time to troubleshoot much more than what I did so I feel ok with the outcome

I forgot about the seat being over it...
It was a real pain.
And given the time crunch totally get it.

I did something on the same topic, anybody want a 2005 impala with about 40k on it?

Finally pulled the trigger today, after a bit of research. Low ride 7x14 and 14k gvw. It's a Load Trail ... similar to a PJ (brother's owned pj then split off)

Nice trailer Ken. Having a load taken from here Sunday. Couple hundred but I have moved the stack off my roof once already.

1 piece formed 10 gauge sides and bottom ( only seam is down the middle and it's welded.and the horizontal ribs down the sides are formed, not welded on), 3" channel support ribs 16 on center, cast hitch (I really like the hitch), 12k jack, drop axles , 6-1/2' ramps, every pivot has zerks (big deal for me), name brand us pump, Parker hoses, 3 way gate, spare tire, covered tarp.  7500

3 Way gate works like pickup tailgate, or a dump truck tailgate for well tail gating or it opens like a double driveway gate too. Great feature btw...

Pivot at top, pivot at bottom, or pivot at sides for those that can't picture it ;)

Kind of like those fugly Honda Ridgelines, but about 100x more useful.

7X14, good size, almost a foot wider than mine so equipment fits better. I like your gate set up, mine is one piece so if I open the gate door to dump it takes lots of clear width to swing it open. Easy to drop if no room but still much easier to swing if possible.

Do you have stake pockets? My trailer only has two ft. sides so I built side boards a couple heights, 16 inch and four ft.  The 16 inch ones help protect the top of the metal sides and nice for hauling ground bark or top soil.  The four ft. ones for hauling brush and other bulky stuff.

Thanks Dawg.
Bob, yeah it has 3 on each side. As soon as hunting season is over, I'll make some out of wood as well. Right now I'm trying to get it set up for a trip to the woods, my neighbors place, to help him clear brush and dig an outhouse pit.
I really wanted the spreader feature because we will be hauling a couple hundred tons of sand from my yard to my brother's. It being a low profile trailer makes the spreading a little more difficult, but can't have everything I suppose.

Looks good Ken. After working with saws and nail guns all day I'm in the kitchen cutting up fajitas. Drop the big chefs knife, it bounces heel first and sticks me with the point right in the leg. Gotta love it. Blood squirting everywhere and kids and wife having a cow.

As Monty Python said..."''tis but a scratch"

Cracks me up that Tapatalk won't take the picture of the gaping wound. I think it looks too much like a certain female anatomy and it's getting screened out.

yeah the first set of steri strips didnt work.  Surgical glue by iteself wouldnt work.  So I shaved it and had the wife hold the sides together.  Hit it with glue and strips and it held.  If that hadnt worked that would have been lidocane and staples.

If it had been a bit bigger it would have been a tampon....

Nearest ER is about 60 miles so out here its all about DIY....

maybe....but then thats what the lidocane is for....

When you're way away from a medical facility it helps to have the right gear.

Walk with all the bending and climbing working in the casita the strips busted loose. Next time it's staples from the get go.
Made a little progress on the casita. Went to town to get a bunch of plywood. Started bracing by sheathing. Using 15/32 apa plywood. Got all the ijiosts trimmed to length. Got the top plate mostly finished. Installed the hurricane strapping from the studs to the foundation beams

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Oh. and had a fun moment today.  Took the trailer into town and got 50 sheets of plywood.  Needless to say it was heavy.  Went to drop the trailer on the drive so I could manuever it to the casita with the tractor (I have a receiver hitch welded on the box blade).  I started to drop it and noted I was on the inclined part of the gravel drive.  Thought to myself "self, its possible this could roll backwards even with the jack down on the gravel".  Nah, it'll be ok....

.I disconnect the safety chains and lights and start cranking..as soon as it cleared the ball......off it went....sliding down the drive backwards...as I grabbed the tongue and tried to stop it I realized I was unable to alter the course of gravity....but I could steer it.

So as I realized it was heading towards the culvert at the bottom of the hill I decided that steering it into the trees would be preferrable...hit a big pine dead on and stopped it.

Fortunately the wife did not see it as she came out a few minutes later and asked if that trailer was supposed to be down there up against the tree.   Sure honey, just left it there so I could get the tractor on it.....

Glad nothing got tore up Tex. Also glad your wife didn't figure out what happened. Mine would ridiculed me relentlessly for something likely that. Staples...those suck. Last time I had staples removed it felt like they had 1/2" barbs on them.

Today I mostly just changed diapers, a bunch of them.

Charles, don't feel bad.

At our first house I took our big Tex 20' deck over trailer & picked up a bundle of 3/8" rebar. Once I returned home I decided that unloading them one by one would suck & it would have I can attest from experience. So I found a big oak tree and tied a slip knot with a large log chain around back end of the bundle. Put the F350 in 4 high and put it to it. After jerking several times on it I then stopped to get out and look at the problem. Well, with 6" of lift & 35" tires I couldn't see rear of the trailer from drivers seat. Anyhow some of those darn pieces of rebar got caught between wood deck and the upper rear 1/4" x 2 x 3" angle that ran across back of trailer and made a big U shape out of it.......

So I got to fix that next......
Living in the remote north hoping Ken doesn’t bring H up here any time soon…..

My driver seat didn't stay fixed for long. Stopped working again today.

Well I couldn't sit still. Went and took some painters tape, tapped the seat forward switch forward and crawled under the back of the seat. The first plug I touched and the seat started moving. Low and behold this must be what the stealer found

Notice the yellow splice connection ( the one that makes it so I can't unplug my seat to remove it with out cutting the damn wire?)
They broke the tab that hold the plug in place, covered it with the black plastic cover and charged me $300 for one crimp cap and some electrical tape. Man oh man!!!  Still not sure why my seat is intermittent, I only touched the wire harness.  Didn't pull it, didn't smack it.  Only poked it I guess
