figures i'm out doing armee stuff for the last couple days (that and being sick with a sick daughter) and i come back to find that the first "tire" post is of don's buick.
once i get some free time I am going to make some tire posts as i used to work for cooper tire america and for some reason have a passion for tire performance.
my first post will be about the new nitto exo grappler's that i'm currently running and some of the other tires that i have either ran or experienced multiple failures with in the past.

Cooking equipment / Re: smoker needed
« on: February 15, 2015, 04:51:51 AM »
I have a Master Built that I purchased in 2009. My model had a recall for not producing enough smoke and Master Built sent out a new larger chip hopper and had you remove a metal divider that seperated the chip pan from the element. the newer ones already have this fix. I have smoked whole 22+ lbs turkeys in it and it does great and it has a program feature to set for either max temp, cooking temp, or time.
my cover has held up so far but is starting to come apart but for a machine that sits outside in the elements all year it has held up great.

Don those brakes work both in emergencies and in normal braking situations. The pintle is free floating inside a sleeve and when brakes are applied to the vehicle the trailer will push forward towards the vehicle causing the pintle to slide into the sleeve and pushing on the hydraulic piston applying the brakes. The breakaway cable forces maximum pressure onto the brakes once pulled. It is a fool proof system that has no electronics to wear out or bias valves to freeze up. you do have to grease the sleeve annually (according to the tm) to ensure it slides properly but to be honest every 3-5 years is fine.

the only issue we run into with these trailers is with the wiring and it is mostly operator error. most of the time they push in the pins on the pigtail connector or drive with the parking brakes applied.

Don one thing to look into while doing the wiring is to install a brake light interrupter switch so that if your being followed you can defeat those pesky brake lights.
