The airbags work well for ya?
Indeed they did well, the equalizer was a new venture for me.  Not sure how I feel about that.  Seemed to create a push pull on the roads that had ruts in Them

Question for the masses

Apparently I burned some oil on my way up here,

I can’t source amsoil in this city

What do I add to it? Walmart and your regular auto store

Tough one but I'd caution you to check that one out completely. Amsoil can be tricky

I think I mentioned my 1994 F-250 PS truck? Had a ZF 5-speed. The Amsoil came to my house, and did a complete swap of fluids, like everything. Immediately afterward I could hardly shift the transmission any more. I fought with them and they did nothing. finally I bit the bullet and paid to have it overhauled. The guy said the phenolic rings/washers inside were all buggered up. Obviously the Amsoil did that.

On another note while I'm bashing the Amsoil product. You may recall I added the bypass oil filter system to my Duramax truck back in 2012 or 2013? Well that darned thing always leaked! I pulled it off here and there and kept replacing the O-rings but it still continued to leak oil all over the underside of my truck. Not much. mind you, but every once in awhile I'd see a drip in the driveway.

Well a couple weeks ago I replaced the O-rings. housing, lines, nuts and bolts and filters with...Nothing. I pulled that piece of junk off and spun an AC-Delco stock filter on in its place and guess what? No more leaking

Amazing

Looks like I have lucked out a line shop in town, carries and does 20 min oil changes.

So $122 for a full oil change with amsoil and wix filter.   I’ll be good for a drive home

I used some oil a few miles back, but none since. I have stuck with rotella and napa golds (get at fleet filter for about 1/2 price)

I also run a amsoil bypass, but only the filter is theirs. I change it every other change.

Thats probably what I paid for my last fluid change with all the filters.

My new lift pump came yesterday, fittings seem small at 1/4 npt but I found an adapter to 1/2 barb in SS. Amazon is too easy sometimes. I was thinking about getting a sump, but they stick down to far for me and I have a bigger tank.

Still running amsoil. 20-25k between changes, which goes against everything I tell my customers, but I absolutely hate changing oil. As long as the tests keep coming back clean, my schedule won't change.
So, my truck is a '12 and I've changed oil 4 times, and I run the piss out of it. Lol

I was running 50k on the oil. Tests said ok still at 50 but I couldn’t leave it.
Did the filters at 25. Did that for 200k.
Got tired of the 40 below oil leaks.
Went back to stock filter and 10-15k on oil. Back to Esso 0w-40.

So yesterdays D.L. and vehicle registration activities only took about 2.5 hours combined from 2 different locations.  Which is a dang good time!

then 2 hours of messing with (trying to lower it) a weight distro hitch i keep in the receiver at all times when not pulling my big trailer with the good hitch.  The old one sat way to high and would not let my dump trailer run level.  1 of the bolts came out really easy, but the other one i had to let soak in wd40 over night, then go get a smaller diameter bolt to BEAT it out with.

Well during that time, i found a 2.5" hitch with a 5" drop and 15k rating with a 2 5/16" 1.5" shank ball with a 14k rating (my good hitch has a 50k ball on it) for $60.  So after $60 lighter in the wallet...i headed to the dump with 5k weight worth of nasty garbage weeds, plants, landscape crap and branches.

So todays activities consisted of being up at 0800 to make sure an acquaintance  actually showed up to take all of the wood and branches of the pine i had to cut down last weekend and got the old bolt out and lowered the hitch.

Well just before i started on cutting the lawn that had 2 weeks growth on it (was out of town for work last week) wendy comes and tells me that there is a water leak in the basement.  When she showed me where it was, my motivation sank and then I called the plumber (dont get me started on the TURD that showed up...)

Well $350 later, i have 3 holes in the wall behind my master bath sink vanity and this one in the basement.

Now i get to let it all dry out and then get the backside ramming from the drywall folks commence!!!

Cub scout campout last night went well. Everyone had a great time. I started the GMC to leave and heard a squeel under the dash and smelled smoke. Diagnosed as blower motor. Also found a bunch of wires held together with wire nuts. Also the transmission started slipping. Stopped on the way home to check out a Ford. 2000 f250 crew cab with 7.3 but its 2 wheel drive for 8,800. 270,000 miles

I was just saying that the 5 1/2 ft box was probably not a good idea. Now that Im a scout leader I need more room. Its like the truck heard me and decided to crap out on me.

Jon, I have the 6.5 box and put a shelf in the back with the shell. Works great as all the light stuff goes up top. 50% more room!

Finished the fence on the side where I cut the cement down. Makes it so I can pull the TH up about a foot and get the lift around back. Also will mount the comp up front with a cover. Still need to wire a plug for that outside.

To be fair each winter a new gallon was added due to leakage.
So relatively speaking it did get changed I suppose.

Reliable, not a ton of power compared to today’s motors. Regularly ran them 500k with routine maintenance. Trans is weak point really, upgrade the trans cooler

Edit: upgrade the tow mirrors too, Seth was right. Huge difference in later mirrors over early ones.

Two of em ^^^^^

And this is how they act

They get together it's like two girls. They immediately like each other and immediately go after the poor guy in charge

But we formation dodgin' warrant officers are the smarter of the breed. We came from em so we are in on all their trickery and foolery.
Just have to stay one step ahead of their ever present plots and you'll be fine.

I got my nephew trained on the drill for planting cover crop. Now I am trying to come up with things that REALLY important and NEED to be done to keep the boss out of the combine. Today I think I really need him to go mow some weeds along the creek on the south place. That should keep him busy for a while.

Replaced the fuel rail plug on the Dmax. I was getting the 0087 code when passing and pulling. Plug was easy to change and I could actually push on the old one just a little.

I could feel a dead spot in the steering, so tightened a 1/4 turn. Was told it was loose when it was aligned a couple months back.

Was about 1/2 way home and about 65 miles to go when the alternator gave up. Picked up a new one at Napa and drove to a buddies house to install it before it killed the batteries. It was the most brutal alternator install. The bushing that we’re supposed to float in the bracket we’re stuck hard. Finally just took about .030 off the ears of the alternator to get it to slide in and then couldn’t get the bolts to line up to save my life. Finally with a block of wood and a big hammer I got it in. I had to move the compressor out of the way and since I upgraded to the 130amp and it was larger I had to bend the AC pipe coming off the muffler.  As careful as I was it seems that may have been a mistake. I now have no AC.

Well. Off to the AC shop in the morning.  I’m over it for the moment.

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Today we are moving to our farthest away field. about 15 miles away. Boss is running the combine today but we are all hands on deck.  We also have to take the seeder for cover crop and I am the only one that has driven it on the road since we put the dual wheels on it. It takes up the entire road. I got into the control panel on the combine and tuned the max speed down a bit.

Ah the second axiom of work, possibly the first as well

1. Before doing any work, one must first work

2. Work creates work. To start some task will cause one or more tasks to become necessary

3. Work once started continues forever. Therefore to avoid working forever, one should never start to work.
