Got some new boots a few weeks ago. They FINALLY showed up!!

My structural boots are Thorogood. They are a little heavier than some but insanely comfortable.

Speaking of of flag labels, just got back from a church dinner and pulled this pair of Justin boots off. I love seeing that label and the “handcrafted in USA” imprint.

The concrete guy that did my brother's place better not show his face in the near future. Sure making it difficult to lay travertine. Matter of fact, same goes for my brother as well, since he bought the flooring.

Shawn that’s awesome!
Dave where can I get one of those?

Spent the day removing 12 years of patina from the lower rockers on the truck.
Only surface rust so far which I’m happy about. Found out I’ve blasted through the wheel wells on the outside of both sides...not so happy about that.

Used coarse emery paper as the patina scuffer. I have plans to raptor it last spring (2017 May), so I’ll look after the scratches then.

Did a heavy scuff, rust converter, acid etch, colour match, and clear. Need to make spring and don’t want to look like a complete hillbilly.

Time will tell how it holds up.

Technically I think it was a concern for this gentleman’s well being. You see momma is in that house recouping and well dealing with Baylee was the lesser of two evils for this person at said time.

Ok, so exact details to follow at some point in the future with a real build thread.

The low down is I struck a deal with Norm today on an M715 body & frame (minus bed), story is it has no miles. Norm included some extras with this including an NP200 t-case for this build with 800 original miles. With that limited info some who know what I’m talking about should be raising an eyebrow a little right now....

Now the other part is if Norm can figure out how to use a camera we will see two builds get moving as there is an M37 gunna get a cage built too. We hope that this motivates him to get the rest of it assembled. I think he has been planning this for a few years now at least.

Started and finished a lean to for my welder buddy.  Needed a place to park the wife’s Jeep since he took over the garage/shop

The stihl drill is simply that. A trigger turns up the pace, a clutch activates to turn the drill.   He uses it to take up space on his shelf in the garage lol

Wish I could have told you before hand!!! I installed a bathroom of the stuff in 18x18, it is all around fragile. Not sure if you’re done but, be careful pulling up tiles if they’re in mortar and not positioned correctly.... they break WAY TO EASY.

Careful removing from wet saw..... yep stuff may as well come with warning label, BUY WAY MORE THAN NEEDED JUST IN CASE!

I had never laid the stuff before, and probably will never do it again, unless he decides he wants more of it in his house.

Yep, too late!!

The hardest part is making them even as they drop off into the other part of the bathroom, with them being so long and only 6" wide. The floor is way off....like 3/8" high in that area...too much to grind out.  (we ground down the humps that were like 1/8"-1/4" higher than surrounding). I'd have to use leveling compound in the entire main part of the bathroom to get it to work right. I'm not doing that. lol

Dang! Sorry to hear that, but also glad it wasn’t just me! I used leveling compound around the toilet, because a plumber earlier this year had to take out that part of the floor to remove a root from the drain. His concrete re install looked like it was done by my 5 year old son in art class, or maybe he just mixed in the hole. Either way it was about an inch lower than the rest of the bathroom.

Sure looks nice when done though.

Dave, do you not bird-mouth the rafters so they sit on the beam with more than just a point touching? I know it’s a just a basic structure so probably not really needed, just curious is all.

So the first one I built this weeekend I did. The dog kennel I did yesterday I would have only had a notch of 3/8.  The 2 feet of slop in the 12 feet wasn’t worth it.   By blocking in between the rafters and nailing them down to the LVL I gained more than the birds mouth would have given in the long run.

Ya know, I don't always do it

Sometimes I just lay the rafter onto the beam and tun two 3.5" screws crossing and call it a day

Sometimes I use the metal strap or hurricane strap. Especially on a lightweight awning thing like Dave is building.

Experts??? Are we wrong doing it that way? (Not that it matters, I'll still do it my way :-0 )

If an inspector were to pop in he would tell me hurricane H2.5 need to be added but that would be it.  If I wanted to make an augment about the blocking it wouldn’t be worth it.

Most inspectors want hangers or straps on everything.

MAde the most epic smore for the daughters.

2 chocolate chip cookies. About. 5 inches indiameter. 3 jumbo marshmallows toasted. And 1 1/2 bars of Hershey’s chocolate.  Cut in half for the girls.

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Finished getting house ready to list today. Officially on market & showings set up for tomorrow. Have been moving some stuff to the new shop but haven’t spent much time there as wife is still recouping from surgery. All is well there now btw, first 5 days were not fun for anyone under this roof. Need to start running electrical in shop next week. Need to figure out where machines will be setup first....
Living in the remote north hoping Ken doesn’t bring H up here any time soon…..

Spent a few hours putting together a list of filters, gaskets, fluids, grease and some other things for a major fluid change on Chief

I'm concerned...and nervous...
