Floor is still going, been under the weather since last weekend.

No corona or other crap. But after I started coughing blood up a little I got to the DR today. I have that darn RSV or whatever they call it. Lungs clear, ticker looks good but little sleep and hacking will drag you down some.

We did manage to sell the 4Runner tonight, will deliver tomorrow. Made a $100 on it and I got $50 for fuel. Course I blew most of that getting parts already.

Feel better soon JR.  My youngest had RSV at 6 months and it was not fun.

Merry Christmas. May your day be filled with love and joy, and you be surrounded by loved ones.  May the joyous memories of those that are no longer here fill and your heart. I pray that Christ will guide and protect you in the coming year

I think 2024 is going to be what we make it into for our personal lives. I do not believe it is a year of promise and good things to come, much the opposite. But we get to choose how we react to things.

We all did, more like crawled away for some. I can't get over how much everything increased in cost. It is like taking a huge pay cut. No sir, I see a lot more of this coming right up. And a bunch more hands out begging, and looming wars, strategic oil reserve has been almost used up, our military in some woke nightmare. I can't do anything about a meteor hurtling toward Earth any more than I can affect our falling off the cliff. The time of reckoning has come and most people know it. Those same people haven't a clue what to do and will be in a punch bowl swirling down the toilet. I can only do for my own. Good thing I didn't sell my farm, gonna come in handy.

I haven't enjoyed 2023, but I can say the Lord has been with us. April, He was with our son and gave him protection during his work explosion. He didn't come out unhurt, but he was alive and healing still. But most of all, because of that accident, our son has turned back to following God. Our youngest grandson in Nov accepted Christ as his Lord and savior. There are many other things that we have been blessed withbut those are the main ones I'm so very thankful for.

I’m not sure what happened to 2023 frankly. For us it flew by, most years do it seems. I’m just gunna put my head down and keep pushing forward. The better half and I do that best in fact. What else can you do? Giving up isn’t an option and like most around here it’s not our first rodeo. We will keep preparing to help ourselves and others when the need arises.

Well, I'll just stick with walked away for now. Inflation feels more like 20-30%, not even including fuel costs. Plus being on a fixed income doesn't help, best I see is 3%.

Excellent point. Fixed income... Although mine is substantial compared to some people I have lost significant purchasing power over the past 12-18 months. I'd say in the order of 20-25%. I base that on residual cash after just taking care of everything that comes along. That and Northern Kentucky, whose property values soared this past year, just as we got reassessed. I was assessed 50% higher than before!! That just killed any chance of my leaving my home to my wife or anyone in the family. I doubt they could afford the tax and insurance monthly premium, let alone repairs/upkeep/heating and so forth. It forced me into a must-improve the farm and move scenario. I am at the point that when the time comes and I have to leave, I might just abandon the place. If inflation gets bigger and faster, losing a hundred grand or two won't matter. What will matter is the 90+ acres I own that will support us. Drop a willy-Pete grenade behind me as I walk out the front door and never look back.
I don't think we will get to rising columns of smoke everywhere in 24, but we will have more and more running violent crime and soaring costs. War and chilly relations across the planet will create another supply chain issue and millions more open mouths will likely break our support systems like hospitals. Dunno, seems extreme but we are on track for exactly that.
Good luck America, was nice knowin' ya.

And JR. CA just voted to allow 700,000 illegal immigrants to have free healthcare at a cost of 3.1B while having a budget deficit of $68B

Seems to make sense to me.  I just hope my tax dollars don’t go to bail out poorly managed states. Texas has massive surpluses because we don’t spend what we don’t have.

But we will all pay.
As California starts to fail (as the world's, what, 8th largest economy?) the repercussions will reverberate to every corner of America. Second, with China flexing its diminishing muscles, the military that would meet that threat is currently parked and supported by California. Disruptions there would impact military readiness. People migration from Kali would increase. That would weaken Cali but just might help some other states benefiting from the influx of skilled and educated people. People who are used to some terrible rules and oppressive government. There would be local problems all over as these people struggle to fit in. I see it in west coast people coming to KY. It's as if they don't know how to live. They are questioning at every turn who they need to apply to for permission to take a dump in the woods. Telling them we don't have any such control measures seems to short-circuit them. The only problem is that they come with a vote. And should they continue to believe that their new home, KY for example should harbor millions of criminals from Venezuela, Guatemala and everywhere else, well that is in direct conflict with we who have long lived here.

More wood splitting and stacking. Storage shed is half full for next winters fuel. Although, I’ve not used much of this winters fuel as of yet. We’ve only had 4” of snow this winter and temps have been in 30’s and 40’s daily it seems.

Been kinda nice here too. Rain but nothing like last year. Speaking of leaves though the front yard is nasty with those little buggers. Tree is finally done losing em though. Chopped of a branch that overhang the neighbors trailer. Now to see if I can top my tree. Getting out of hand and helps the solar too.

Spent the weekend on a winter campout with the Nebraska Preppers group. I took 2 of my boys and my nephew.
I got second place in the shooting contest with my Henry .22. First time I ever used it.
I slept in the bus with no heat. The boys got the tent. It only got down to 11 but I see a diesel heater in my future. My boots were frozen to the floor this morning.

Drove across NB a few years back around Christmas. Was the longest flattest area I have ever drove through. Lots of cars in the ditches (everyone that past me) and I was no hurry.

Good luck!

Jon, just hunker down
Getting stuck too far from help has killed a lot of folks over the years. Exposure is no joke.
A crew crashed in Afghanistan on a mountainside.
Four people survived the crash and had set up camp. We found them dead the next day. They froze to death.

Pulled the mill head off my Lathe, never have used it (15 years) since I have a smaller mill and now have the BP.

Got the Yeswelder 55pro plasma running yesterday, runs good! For $130 and setup for CNC was a great buy. Cut through 3/16 like butter at 40amps, now to hookup to the Arcdroid. First project will be a universal winch mount plate. Might even sell or give out code if it works.

The weather guy is calling for 1/4" of ice tomorrow night. Would rather have a foot of snow in place of ice

Trying to make a little room and making the garage usable again. I added a hoist on unistrut that has been here since before Christmas.

Just lagged into the beams for now, but still good for several hundred pounds. 660lb from Vevor and it can be doubled (included pully and lift straps). Roller mounts and little things from Az.

Found a larger 6.25in 3 jaw chuck for my lathe, standard 5.25in just always seemed to be just a hair small. Got an 8in (real cheap), but it was BIG and didn't feel right. Fuerda (china) quality looks good and spins true with drill rod. Uses a D1-4 mount and just being a 24 ctr-ctr lathe space gets tight. Probably repurpose the 8in for a rotary table I have.

Redoing the lathe setup after removing the mill. Needs a metal chip plate now, added a shelf on the rear and have a tool cabinet that will fit up there nicely.
