Ok trailer reassembled!!

Ps short wife’s are not for overhead work

Next up. The reason I pulled the trailer out! My Macs custom tie down anchor points

Should work out with one exception. I didn’t count goodernuff and I am short two sets of anchor mounts so I’ll be ordering again

Today I cut and installed my unistrut for the per frame to raise up and down in.

Going for three heights

One for travel, one for bikes loaded and needing to sleep.

Third height is for longer stays lots lower to the ground

I have 94 inches side to side. So I’ll see about a wood box for storage next to the mattress

I finally decided I wasn’t waiting on the fabricator to help me with the bed for my trailer, I ordered steel and will be getting some light welder practice in here real soon

Ordered 70’ of 1x3 square tube and should be able to make do with some other material I have laying around

I have some gear parts coming also next week

The plan is to build the bed so that it has a cable system to pull it up right against the ceiling. I have a envision in my brain and we will see how it turns out

I’ll see if I can get out my color pencils and draw something that might make sense

Today I rolled out the Mig and started making things to look like a way over built bed frame.

1x3 square tube 45degree corners, three cross braces and welded 100% around Heavier then I can move on my own.

Took a min to get the welder set but once we did and turned off the over head fans I was good to go.

I am not sold on his motor/drive location it makes it more complicated.

I want to stay drill powered.

I want to move the drive above the bed at the top of the unistrut and pull them two cables around the bed

Follow Cable route

Drive motor. Down wall> pulley and under the bed > pulley and up the wall to a fixed spot on the other side of the unistrut

I’m concerned the bed will lift in even

I don’t know if that causes a problem but it will mess with the OCD for sure

Other idea is move motor to middle under bed frame end attach cable at the top of unistrut in four corners following the same pulley structure.

Then build a box to hide the motor stuff

I also have another option of building the bed frame with more guides In the unistrut Instead of four pulleys on one cable. Use two but have four guides in the unistrut so the bed can’t travel one side of the other without moving

Some more progress till the helper cut the last long straight for a small scrap instead of using the small scrap.

Left me two inches short of material

Tonight’s goal was to get the foot and head of the bed frames in, I didn’t finish due to the material shortage

Note the recessed pulleys ?

...but. I think you're in for a lifetime of trying to make it work, reliably, and safely (heavy). Might be 10 times easier to have one side attached solid. More like a Murphy bed. You'll obviously lose some space, but would sure be more reliable. Not trying to be negative. Just an opinion.

I think it’s about 200lbs now plus add the mattress, I might drill some speed holes into the frame to cut back on weight lol.

Long as it rides level it should work OK. Beds in my TH are chain driven.

Yes I have four vertical unistrut bars that run floor to ceiling that I have bearings to go in.

I’m going to have 8 bearings in the unistrut that will control up and down and should keep the frame level as it rises

Got the other side of the bed frame on today, also cut the bearing supports to fit

Need to go scratch up a drill press so I get good repeatable holes

I’ll get that quad out of the garage this week, pull the trailer back in and set in place for further mock up of the cables

Need to order cable also lol

Got all of my welds that are easy to get to ground down, then hit with 150 g on an orbital. That way powder coat looks clean.

Got the frame set in place in the trailer, It fits with a decent amount of room to spare for fab and installing the bearings

Need to figure out how to do a few things here

The cable routing

The bearing locations

How to get the bearings in the unistrut

Build some plates at the top of the bed to hold the drive axle

Now that it is built I think the only way to get the bearings in are the ends normally. Maybe cut slots in the top and slide in there?

Many beds like that have a fold out bench or one incorporated. Great for hanging out with extra seating.

I was thinking notching it with the grinder and splitting it in from the bottom

The bearings will bolt onto the bed so I won’t need completely tear the bed apart to get it out.

The bearings are nice, singles and doubles and have some good load ratings. Getting them into the uni is the trick.

That’s a good question Nate

My mastiff is doing pretty ok, Had to nix the tomato’s as that’s one thing he is major allergic to, I’ll post his allergy chart

The chart reads red for his allergy’s, the closer to 100 they don’t highlight but will cause him issues. So his diet is greatly monitored. The places he plays and people who I let him be with.

He gets shots weekly to reduce his reactions

He goes up and down on prednisone and multiple types of allergy meds, antibiotics also

Vet says he will have a shortened life due to his meds but it’s better then a mess of infection he is in otherwise

Ok ok picture dump

I didn’t like bolting the bearings to the angle so I scrubbed that idea

To much thinking involved

So I made the angle to bolt to the frame then I can tac weld the bearings to the angle as centered off a tape measure.

This is my plan to attach the drive system

I’ll bolt this onto the plate, then weld the plate onto the bed frame side. The only thing is the amount of wacks to the forehead I’ll get be use this will need to hang down a few inches for the drive shaft to clear everything
The pillow block will be similar on the other side of the bed frame.

Off to the hardware store to get some nutz n boltz to attach

That’s about as much as I have, I checked google for a cost as of new, a buddy in Florida says they read to be good batteries and the seller said I could bring em back if I had issues or needed wiring help.

Correct, good for RV’s and the newer cars that have stop / start technology. Just a better battery overall I think.
