I see the 71a where the voltage is lower. So you are using a 24v system?

I am setting up a 48v system (4x12v 200ah lithiums) and trying to nail which controller I want. I can get a 5000w unit with MPPT and 120/240 output for around $500. Would run about everything for some time. That would get me going and give me power for years, but not the shop too.

The 100 odd volts and 20 amps is from the panels into the charge controller.
That all goes through the charge controller to my battery bank.
I’m running 2 parallel 24 volt battery banks.

I then go to AC via the inverter 3000 watts available.
So about 25 amps of AC power.
That goes to the breaker panel and out from there.

100% off grid.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

Yep, I already have the panels for my system there and a good upgrade here!

Been looking at power stations to. Something in the 1000wh area. The Panasonic looks good, cheapest price is via wally.

Saw this on Facebook, supposedly no problems, runs good and had a recent tuneup/oil change. I could probably push over a few trees and move a little bit of dirt with it. Asking$3500.

No ROPS
I can't say all the times a big piece of some tree smashed down on either of my rubber tracked machines or my Big Case 1150.
Steer clear of that or buy some good life insurance for your wife...

Hartman Rocks Gunnison CO.

Beautiful 4 hour drive in the mountains to get here. Had it not been raining first half it would have been more enjoyable but we desperately need the precipitation.

First day of getting lost. Grabbed a cool little camping spot and then went out for a couple hour ride. It’s a tad chilly today in low 40’s with some cloud cover and 20 mph winds.

I may or may not have laid the bike over on a fairly technical steep hill climb when got near the top in some washouts. Bike is fine as I laid it down softly but my pride didn’t care for it none I can assure you. Denied is the word of the day……

This boy was doing some low fly overs of the place when I arrived.

Front entrance, mountain biking only area.

10 mph winds and 60’s tomorrow, hoping cloud cover moves out so I can enjoy the night sky this evening.

The tornados missed us here in Maud but did hit the pot farm just north of us, does that make it a weednado or potnado? The tornado did damage the law office that Tammy works in and also the sober living house that she started. Will be check more on the damages latter today

We caught a guy on my farm today. Had been there for several hours. He's a known pot head and seemed to be high. We think he was planting some marijuana somewhere. Couldn't do anything except to tell him to get off the property and never come back. We found out he has been making weekly clandestine visits. I'm informing the sheriff tomorrow. See if we can find the planting site. I'd love to have the derelict there to witness my sheading his precious plants.

Ouch, is that from the corner of the trailer and too much articulation or from the hitch itself?

Took youngest daughter (who’s MT ST bound in the fall) and drove 9 hours to Bozeman today for the weekend. Surprised middle daughter Shelby working at the coffee shop, I think she was happy to see us.

Well, this one has her eyes set on an air force rotc young man who is currently going for his ME degree.

The youngest is looking for a cowboy with a family ranch she tells me on the ride up today. Oldest is engaged as of New Years.

Managed to get my truck bed pulling into camp, the slight incline of the terrain and I snagged the carriage light. When the truck came in contact with the plastic light I braked hard and it rolled forward into my bed side

Hope I can get it fixed with some paint less dent repair

Had a truck hit my elky a few years back. Right in the rear corner (think of where our tail lights are), came out working it only from the outside.

How long of a black snake does it take to keep about 12 government employees from coming in the office door but the also so won't walk about 50 yards to the next door?

The answer is about 8"

Now guess who picked it up(I don't know how to gender snakes) and put it under some shrubs?

That would be me.

I could see maybe see the drama if it was venomous but when when the entrance has 3 sets of double doors with a wall between each set. Come on people

Bet
Bet they can’t PDR this

Neighbor down the street turned the corner hot in the rain.

Personally I think he was hammered but he stopped and committed to making it right without going through insurance

Well it was yesterday actually.
Set up my cabin range.
Some will blaze me on location.
I have thought about it and will be rare opportunities to use this one.

This target about two feet by three feet.
1300 meters.

About 18” round.
1100 meters.

You can almost kind of make out the close one. The far one is easier to pick out.

From the west deck. Unfortunately faces south, but it is what it is.

While alone I can use the deck. When others are about I’ll have to give up 35-40 meters and shoot from the dock crib. Gives me a vantage point of the whole lake.

Oh and I’m within a day or so of being land locked at the cabin. Ice has lifted and is starting to candle up.

And for those who do t know where the met goes, I present thee a drain.

Starts as a trickle down a crack and slowly opens up. I’ve seen a few that I could fit down.

Nice range Sam. I still don't understand what that white stuff is.

Guess my buddy needs to lose weight. He took out the up and down gears in my passenger seat.
Company called Gruven makes some nice brass ones....$50 per and I needed 2.
You have to cut off the plastic gears and epoxy the brass ones on.

Ok some ice words for y’all.

As the snow melts and Mother Nature sends us some glorious heat the ice begins its melt.

As it starts the rotting process it “candles”.
This is the surface ice as it sat last night.
It is about 80% candled and os still quite strong.

This crack kind of shows thing candles. I’ll go out and break some off to get a picture. Somehow I do t have one. You can see about the top four inches looks really white. That’s all that’s really bad currently of the three to four odd feet in the current.

This here is a drain hole. It will have started on a crack and at a low point. Literally a drain for the water to run off the surface of the ice. The ice is close to four feet thick here and if you zoom you can sort of make out structures in the hole. They are a thing. Some of these holes have lots some are just a big ole hole on the ice.

This is a just taken picture. All of he dark spots, three circled in blue are drains. They will be the first spots to fail as well.

The surface has went almost pure white today which indicates it is nearly 100% candled on the surface.

To be fair likely could still drive a truck on it.
I won’t. But I don’t when it’s good either.

Getting on and off the shore will be the issue now.

It’s been mid low 70’s a few days.
Might snow this weekend yet. Lol.

Yeah far one is 3/8 checker plate.
The round one is a line cap from something. 1 1/4 thick or so.
Both quite heavy.
I forgot to bring rounds for the 300. Shot the ones off the stock sock.
Then realized that was it…
Got close, but have zero for dope past 500.
When I fired the last one I was a foot low and a foot right.
Found the bullet trail in the snow just in front, didn’t find bullet however.
This will be fun though.

Now I’m trying to figure if I can get back one last time for ammo.

Ive always been taught if your first shot is off just move the splash in your scope view to the target and send it a second time without adjusting.

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Four feet is in the current.
There are spots it’s six.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

Sam-

What's going on with the ice?
I'm interested, as I'm sure loads of folks down here are.
Never knew anything about the process of big ice breakup
I'd like to ask you to document it as we move forward so we can also sort of experience the process
and
bro
Stay off the ice
Please!

On it chief.
Well I will be a few more times lol.
Not to travel home however and not currently.

Based on picture last night from the boss it’s going faster over there.
I am doing a 7 & 7 type thing till it gets interesting.
Any not Jack and 7-up. But that would be ok too.

I’ll keep track for sure and keep you all up to speed.

There are a couple spots that were open on the weekend already in high current areas.
For those that this confuses, the lake is a reservoir for power dams.
This area flows about 4000 cubic meters per second or approximately 140k cubic feet per second.
So a lot of water.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

I once read a study of the Congo river.
I was helping a man running for president of that nation
He wanted to complete the dam downstream from the capitol. Would easily be the largest dan in the world, bigger than that thing in China. That single dam could nearly supply the electrical needs for...AFRICA!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, that river there flows 1.45 million cubic feet of water per second!!!!

So Sam, I am confused. Is it a river or reservoir fed by a river accounting for the flow?
